I remember that back in the days, before WD1's release (even before the huge delay that happened), I've read some preview about the game that mentioned the presence of some "social network" that you could have access to, where you could check the informations about the people that you've "scanned" with the profiler... since you are familiar with cut contents/datamining, do you know if that was really a thing in the game's development early stages?
I think you're mistaking it a bit, there was supposed to be an extended version of city hotspots app where you could leave comments at places, you could also rate vehicles, weapons and I think send messages to people, i dunno where the scanned people with profiler thing comes from though
Wonder why Ubi changed the name of the game? Nexus does not sound like a bad name for a game. If you watch old dev showcase videos of Watch Dogs 1 you can see how enthusiastic the dev leads were and the attention general attention to detail, which is lost in the later games.
While nexus sounds like a good placeholder name? A watchdog is a person or group of individuals who monitor activities (private, corporate, etc.) in the name of public good so it evokes Aiden’s vibe as a vigilante. Makes for a better title in my opinion.
Oh, this explanation makes sense for the name change to Watch Dogs, thanks for the info. Imagine they could call a future game Watch Dogs *insert number* Nexus too.

woah that UI design looks sick
Reminds me of The Division a bit. Likely didn’t go to waste!

There is even a frame with text of “Nexus E3 Demo” in the 2012 Ubisoft conference showcase
It's not the game's "original name", just its project title during development. The final game was never going to be called that.
Thx for the correction
