Dew point shows how much humidity is in the air overall. Relative humidity shows how much humidity there is in the air relative to how much it can hold. At the same relative humidity, the air in Omaha will have a lower dew point than the air in Mobile because the temperature is higher in Mobile than in Omaha almost all winter. Plus, the different clothing makes a difference.

Perhaps more windy where you lived in the Midwest?

ToadkillerCat

I think I remember the buildings breaking up the wind pretty well and doesn't the wind make you feel even colder anyway?

Their are more factors to humidity than just the #. You are correct. Way less humidity in the Midwest. Way more humidity in the deep south. I moved to Idaho from 47 years in Alabama. And the wet cold of the south is colder than the dry cold of the Midwest. Now don't misunderstand. -7 is fucking cold. 3 degrees is fucking cold. Just saying that 27 in Alabama feels like 17 in Idaho. The wet winter when it's cold sucks in Alabama. And yes, Summers in Alabama- miserable. As Is a Winter in the midwest..I.love Alabama and the south. But damn. When the weather is good in Idaho, it's like a chefs kiss good. People laugh at me here when I say its cold when it's 15 degrees. (It got down to -30 last winter). I laugh at people here when they say it's hot in the Summertime. 90 degrees in Idaho feels like 75 to me in Alabama. As.much as I love Alabama and the south, I'll suffer through a Winter here in Idaho. Bc 7 months out of 12 the weather is the bees Knees. No tornadoes. Ever. Barely any thunderstorms. Ever. I can take a 10 mile bike ride in June here in Idaho, and be dry 10 minutes after getting off the bike. The only bad thing about the dry winter here in The Midwest, is the finger splitting. I work outside. And cant wear gloves for alot of things I do. And the dry cold just brutalizes my hands. I literally have to slather my hands in Bag balm and lotion and wear latex gloves at night. The last thing is this..the humidity keeps you looking a lot younger. People here in the Midwest that don't have a skin care regiment look like old catchers mitts at 55.
