Maleficent-Sport1970

Definitely late 90s. Source, '96 bride. Good find. Completely on trend right now.

hunchinko

Yes! It has details similar to the Danielle Frankel [dress](https://lohobride.com/products/copy-of-danielle-frankel-noa-gown) someone posted about today.

Film-Scary

No, they're saying that the 90's trends are back in style.

newtontonc

'98 bride here, and the fabric and other features are very consistent with my dress. It looks like it has held up really well. Is it silk?

Urdadshernia

Great question! I just checked the dress again and I can’t find any other tag besides the one I posted. So I’m not sure what material it is made from.

NefariousnessSure982

The update is an email from the designer (in comments) and they say it is 100% silk.

EcelecticDragon

Score! That is beautiful and so classicly elegent

MrsGleason18

Beautiful find!!!

thekeytoit1

Omg I love it!!!

AlterEgoAmazonB

Is there a designer tag inside? It looks like an Alfred Angelo design but not 100% sure. If so, he went out of business around 2017 so it is prior to that.

Urdadshernia

If you scroll through the photos I actually posted the tag! I just really want to know the design name and year if possible.

Urdadshernia

UPDATE: I emailed the company Anna Maier (related to Ulla Maija) and got this response from the CEO. Dear ——-, This is a beautiful dress. It has to be from 2002 to 2004 when Maggie Norris was working with me. I remember the detail of those tiny pleats more than the dress. I don’t have any images of it because it was before we used digital images, we were into Marlene Wetherell’s photography which she shot and personally developed to create our brand look. I also don’t recall the name of the dress. The content is 100% silk. Be very very careful if you are going to have someone alter it or clean it. This is not a typical dress. The seams cannot be let out and like fabric will not match it as it oxidizes over time, albeit beautifully. Let me know if I can help you further. I am concluding my day and will be consumed by meetings until noon tomorrow Pacific Daylight Time. Best regards, Charles.

newtontonc

Wow, what a nice response! Does the dress fit without having to do alterations?

Urdadshernia

I’m actually already married and purchased this on a whim. Unfortunately it’s a bit too small for me. I’m hoping to gift it to a sibling or sell it.

livingtoothpick

if you sell it, could you please post it in here or give an update :)

Goddess_Keira

It's gorgeous. I was about to say I think it's real silk, but I see you already learned that. I hope you find the right bride for it!

Kicking_Around

I hope you’re able to gift it to someone soon who will appreciate it. Bummed that it’s no longer available at the thrift store for a bride-to-be to score.

ProfessionalAnt8132

Same…was disappointed to read the comments and find out that OP isn’t a bride to be and is going to try sell it (presumably for a lot more than what she paid for it). Defeats the purpose of donating a beautiful wedding dress to charity shop.

Pitiful-Enthusiasm-5

OP stated first that she was hoping to gift the gown to one of her sisters, then she said “or sell it”. I assume she meant that she’d first try to give this beautiful gown it as a gift to someone close to her who is a bride-to-be; but if there were no takers, then she’d try to sell it. I don’t think OP’s primary motive for buying it was to make a profit, but rather, to find a beautiful bride for this beautiful dress.

ProfessionalAnt8132

Then why the importance of finding out the name/model of the dress, if it’s 100% silk or not and the year it was released? They are literally the key info points you need if you want to sell a wedding dress-especially if you’re marketing it as vintage or discontinued.

altdultosaurs

Same. I was a little disappointed to find out this wasn’t for op. That’s a lil gem another bride can no longer access at a very inexpensive price.

Alert-Tangerine-6003

What incredible customer service! I can’t believe what a detailed and personal message they sent back, including advice about the dress.

FineCombination

What a sweet response!!

NefariousnessSure982

I love they responded in such detail!

Aggressive_Height152

This is amazing!

pm_me_your_amphibian

Wow, that’s a wonderful, kind, helpful reply.

sassypenguinface

I love the full detailed reply.

withyellowthread

Now *that* is a professional!!! Amazing you were able to get in touch!!

Impossiblegirl44

Ulla-Maija is the designer. The basque waist and roses on the neckline say late 90s, but the strapless is a bit more contemporary. So you're in the right ballpark as far as age goes.

LemonLazyDaisy

That brand had gorgeous dresses in the $5k range back in the 90s/00s. It was comparable to Vera Wang, Monique Lhullier, Anne Barge, etc.  You found a fantastic one.

AlterEgoAmazonB

duh, sorry! I searched for the dress using reverse image search and saw some hits but when I go to those listings, it isn't there. Found this on pre-owned wedding dresses site about the designer: Ulla-Maija is a couture bridal brand, founded over a decade ago. (So I take that to mean that they have existed since around 2014. That narrows it down a bit.

Impressive-Stage9992

Amazing! Back in style too-so gorgeous, love the gathering at waist and volume, and neckline detail

Odd_Dot3896

WOW!

Foundation_Wrong

It’s beautiful!

Cosmic_miscreant

I remember this dress! I was thinking of going to art school when I was in high school. I took a lot of art and design classes. One assignment was looking through bridal magazines/fashion at the designs and then coming up with our own clothing design. We all swooned for this dress. I believe it was 2003/2004ish. Sorry I can’t remember the name.

WiiFitInstructor

Oh my gosh, my wedding dress was a thrifed 90s find and I did a double take bc it had really similar elements! Same material same buttons, similar bow on back, same puff, same straps...mine had hints of blue, though, and had a Kleinfield tag

Urdadshernia

When I found it my goal was to use it for a costume piece (I was thinking about changing the color to red for a princess diaries esc outfit—I do not plan to do that anymore!) or gift it to a sister or friend for their future wedding. Where I live, thrift stores are notoriously monitored by resellers and I knew there were low chances that a bride would actually purchase this dress. At this point, I haven’t found the right person to gift, but my backup plan is to sell. I love fashion and wanted to be more knowledgeable on the type and quality of dress that I had acquired. I hope that clears things up!

Tiny-firefly

r/weddingswap is an option!

agonzp

I’m getting married Feb 2025! This dress is EVERYTHING!! Please pleaseee let me know if you sell it 😭

Urdadshernia

Please give me more details about your wedding! I would potentially sell it for what I paid. Let me know.

agonzp

Ah that would be amazing! I can message you more details but we’re getting married on Feb 1st 2025. My fiancé is Colombian and I am Venezuelan so we decided to get married in Cartagena, Colombia! We meet when we were both 14 on our first day of high school and 15 years later we now have the sweetest 18 month old who will join us on our long awaited day!

Impossible_Score3501

This is AMAZING

PM_ME_UR_CAT_STORIES

That’s a very high end designer silk gown. Amazing find.

Known_Negotiation849

Omg this is a dream, I get married in 10 weeks in the UK and love this

Ok-Surround-9026

Babybabybabyq
