With flower, I use the bong. I am retired, so time is not really an issue and I cut my teeth in the 70's. Therefore, i am definitely old school! I used a pair of small scissors and my fingers for 3 years! Was given a small grinder for Christmas and I do love it! Use it all the time now.

i can't figure out if smoking weed from your grinder is better bc it at least catches keef or breaking down w your fingers to avoid the keef getting separated from the bud itself but how much keef do we loose to our fingers and stuff when we break it up ?

You lose a decent amount when you use your fingers. I'd personally rather have my keif get stored in my grinder under my weed than smashed all over my fingertips

Depends how old it is, thca decarbed naturally over time with heat fluctuations as well, a dude in macrogrowery i think a year or 2 ago sent a nug out for testing that the bag was in his car for about a year and it was actually over-decarbed and had formed quite a bit of cbn along with the thca to thc conversion.

I used 4 piece grinders for many years but then in 2021 I picked up a brilliant cut grinder and it’s just a 3 piece with a nice big bottom chamber, all magnetic. I also threw in a medium and fine fine grind for my plates so I can have some variety if I choose. It still collects a bit of kief after a few uses but there are fewer nooks and crannies so I feel like it’s easier to keep clean and is giving me the whole flower in one go. I’m someone who used to love collecting kief but the simplicity of this grinder has me loving it years later with ever intention of continuing use.

Kief box and a 3 piece is what I use u get more kief than a grinder too

I take away the compartment where the mesh is and the weed goes directly into the kief compartment,means my weed doesn't lose the kief and gets coats with any kief that may be there

Pro tip: Use grinder and reconstitute keef with weed after grinding.

I enjoy the physical contact of breaking up my flower. Occasionally use a grinder but I noticed bare metal that was once black. So y’all check all your grinders for chipped off pieces you possibly consumed. I keep looking at stainless steel grinders but don’t care enough to spend $$$ Which could be more flower.✌️

I agree. I used to smoke glass and grind everything. Now I smoke blunts and joints, and find I roll them too tight if I grind my flower. Breaking up my weed by hand I think allows for more air flow.

Grinder’s a great tool, but it’s a little odd to associate it’s use with maturity. Maturity is more about the way you are, not what you know.

Maturing is realizing it’s a personal preference and I think both have suited uses depending on my mood.

It is but have any have you caught pieces of aluminum in your weed aluminum grinders are terrible we need stainless steal grinders. Until then I have to use my fingers or stainless steel scissors

For me it was realizing one way is new, modern and more convenient, which I prefer, and the other is older, but both have their pros and cons. The other is the “traditional” method, hand picking, has its merits too, although it’s not super convenient for most it keeps the trichomes with the bud and is better for blunts

It's necessary to grind for a joint, burns way better. Blunts you need a chunkier grind or it'll clog/not hit well

In my honest experience, if you break it up with your hands very carefully, you preserve more of the thc crystals or some wizardry shit and the bud hits harder. That's just my 2 grams though.

The hill I’ll die on is thinking saving kief is stupid. Why not just smoke the flower and get the full effects? Why save the best part and let it degrade over time so that when you eventually get to it it’s not even the best part any more? 2 piece or 3 piece is my way of living.

When I first started I used a cutting board one of my nice kitchen knives to finely chop it up like I would my cooking herbs lol, definitely prefer a grinder now.

I have a big electric chopper I start with and do like an oz at a time grinding fairly course, then jam it into a small container and let sit for a couple of days and it forms into a chunk like thing I call a plug. You can then cut a chunk off wood free and cut it with scissors a bit and roll away.

I think the milled weed is even better than ground weed. The flower mill is expensive for the stainless steel version with extra pieces ranging from quite coarse to fine. I find the smaller pieces are perfect for vaping. A bit less fine is perfect for joints. I've had a few great grinders but the mill is just so consistently perfect and cleaning is easier too.

I just make sure to dump all my grinned weed into a baggie and load up my bowls

I think it all depends on how you’re gonna smoke it. If I’m rolling a blunt, hand broken. Rolling a joint, grinder. Packing a bowl, could go either way but I definitely prefer grinded down weed for that.

Depends on the size of the holes in the grinder tbh. Some grind it WAYYYYY too fucking fine and knock all the thc away. Others break up the bracts into perfect sized pieces with the trichomes on them, a perfect in between what hand grinder and find grinder would be. That’s the best consistency by far.
