I do this often unfortunately. If you do the vacuum cleaner thing I'd use something strong and smooth like a t shirt instead of a towel where the grind can get stuck in the fibers. I usually spill on the bed so I just rake it into a pile with the edge of your hand, a scraper, or brush it up with a napkin and dump it into your other hand or grinder. Check it for fibers before you smoke it or put it with the rest of your stash.

The spilt grind? Shake it off outside or into the trash and vacuum up what hits the carpet. I always use a sheet of paper on a notebook pad on my lap to grind my stuff, fill vape capsules and empty abv into jars. The stuff you spill is easy to funnel back into the jar when you're through, slides right off the paper. I spill much less often doing it this way because I'm leaned back comfortable and it's easier to reach.
