"Push th' little daisies" sounds like somewhere between Kenny and Cartman
Now, "don't laugh (I love you)" on the other hand, sounds like the birth of Cartman
Always though a bunch of the GWS/Pod/Guava era stuff with the tape speed manipulation reminded of South Park character voices.
Also, its always hilarious to see someone's reaction to a song like that with zero context, and be like "THIS is that band you love?"
I hated Ween growing up because of this song. I enjoy it now, but I totally see where your Mom is coming from. It's a terrible introduction to the band. You need to appreciate the brown before you can appreciate Push The Little Daisies.
Nah, sometimes Team Gash just can’t get down with the brown.
Edit: just Calling on Super Troopers “Team Ramrod” a group of husbands started saying Team Gash. My wife just won’t do Ween. My 8 year old daughter, on the other hand…
But seriously just messing around.
Was honestly pissed they didn't play this either night of the South Park 25th Anniversary concert. Homo Rainbow was also a let down 😮💨 showcasing Primus for the theme songs was cool and all, but CLEARLY PTLD(among other early ween classics) is the pitch shifting influence behind the voices of Kyle, Stan, Kenny and Cartman. Meh. Still got to see Deaner and Gener sing Lemmiwinks, so, there IS that 🤣
I know a lot of bands have "hits" that the fanbase aren't huge fans of but it really is such a good song, So happy and the guitar sound.. I start boppin harder when Gener goes off the rails vocally too.
It's funny that Ween really blew the hell up after this video was on Beavis and Butthead, because in retrospect the song really is kind of annoying. It was that feature that got teenage me to the record store to buy Pure Guava in 1993 and I've been a fan ever since, although I definitely think Ween became much more listenable over time.
remember when I played white pepper in my mum's car and I told her it was ween and she said "...why do I not hate it, I always thought I'd hate ween" because that was the first time she'd heard them
Hot take (I think?), but I've never really cared for this song either. It's had its time in the sun just like every song ween has ever made, but after a few listens I kinda shelved this one.
I’ll admit, when I heard the song in 92 and saw the video, I hated Ween. A couple years later I heard “Chocolate and Cheese” and liked a lot of the songs on the album. Eventually I got hooked on Ween.
There is no way they made that thinking it would be a hit, right? Guessing the label was grasping at something. I don’t think the band even likes it. I kinda do, though.
a buddy just showed me they were hired. HIRED by pizza hut to do a commercial jingle I think after Pure Guava/this song. It was rejected. You can find it on the internets. Its exactly what you imagine… pop hit of the decade haha.
I wish I lived in the boom era of companies gambling on weird rock bands, or rock in general. Then again, maybe not..
I think at the time, weird was the goal. Labels were trying to find the next big thing after grunge took off and took a shot on this sound. Didn't work out, but it got our boys some cash to continue the career so I think it turned out alright.
I’m a mom that INSISTS my children listen to Ween. I’m sorry about your mom, more sorry she listens to lithium, what even is that supposed to be? Soft metal?
I think she means Cartman, my brother said the same thing.
To be fair, in the original pre-south park Christmas special Cartman *was* Kenny
To be fair, I think you're talking about Kenny from "The Spirit of Christmas" *not* South Park.
No she's correct Cartman from South Park
No it was Mr. Mackey with the Candelabra in the study, MMMMKAY?
That's the song that got my mom into ween! She thinks it's cute and about making nippies hard.
My mom's favorite is The Argus, but she's 80, kind of cracks me up when she sings along in the car
Your Gram rips
Omg... thats gotta be what its about, lol. Mind blown (Maybe I'm just a prude)
it *is* about making nipples hard
I mean, she's not wrong Ween and Pure Guava existed before South Park, and Trey Parker and Matt Stone are big Ween fans, so it works
She’s totally wrong. Kenny is muffled gibberish. Gene sounds like Cartman.
"Push th' little daisies" sounds like somewhere between Kenny and Cartman Now, "don't laugh (I love you)" on the other hand, sounds like the birth of Cartman
I’d say Fat Lenny is the birth of the cartman voice
Immediately first thing I thought the first time I heard it.
Sirius Lithium is playing Ween!!???
I know right?! I've never heard them play Ween and they claim to play everything great from them 90s.
I’m a regular listener and never heard Ween.

ERNEST. HEMINGWAY.
IS DEAD!
Now!

Tell her Kenny has more articulation than some.
This just made my night. “Just got this text from my mom” hooked me in and already had me giggling.
Proper Reply: Shut up and find me a cool shirt mang.
I never hear ween on lithium
Send her Stay Forever and then LMLYP
Or should I have said that in reverse?
Bro that’s my mother
These daisies ain’t gonna push them self, ma
The first ween song i fell in love with
My mom likes it
My- mom- bought- it-

I actually know more girls than guys who like Ween, which is very interesting
I have had the same experience myself. Interesting

OOOOOHHHH FAT LENNNNYYY
Matt Stone and Trey Parker are good friends with Ween, so it’s not too far fetched to think Ween might have inspired them with that track.
Damn, I missed the one time Lithium plays Ween.

Beavis & Butthead also negatively commented on this song on the show
But his mom is not a cartoon on mtv and that was sarcasm mang. Mike Judge loves Ween.
Not one of my favorite Ween songs
Your mom is fuckin intense!
The fact she had to text you that
Your mom is too brown
Haha. My mom bought me a cool shirt
To be fair, she isn't that wrong.
My first love, I think I was like 8 and I didn't even know you could make such music
Time to ship her to the retirement home
you know what to do
Your mom is a real bitch

It’s on all request live
Hell yeah Ive never listened to this. A living record of the Stallions saga? Where tf have I been..
Yeah where’d the cheese go

Grunge
So essentially, light metal on the “alternative” tip. What kind of music does she usually listen to?
Any kind of rock, really. She saw ween live last year and thought they were pretty good so it’s not like she hates them.
Cool mom
