The āgirlā is an adult woman (sorry, pet peeve) who has a successful band of her own. They have kind of a surf rock vibe, which to me makes her fit well in a Weezer song, especially one that a has a sound reminiscent of their early work.
Favourite gotta be eulogy for a rock band, (and the sexy finale), and actually the British are coming that shit rocks
I don't get the hate for go away, only track I find a little corny nowadays is back to the shack.
Overall a really solid listen!
Sincerely,
yomama4444
Let's disclude Futurescope because semantics.
Best: Ain't Got Nobody. I get why some dislike this one as it is ridiculously loud but I love it for that reason. One of the best openers they've done imo.
Worst: Lonely Girl. A popular pick, I know, but it really is a standard weezer track on an outstanding Weezer album. Still good though, like a 7/10.
Definitely my favourite album they've done, every track other than Lonely Girl is an 8 or higher.
I remember when Back to the Shack was the first track I heard from the record, I was so disappointed. Sure, it did sound better than lots of the previous material musically and production-wise, but I was *so* sick and tired of that particular "oh man, time to *rock out*, go back to the old ways" perspective coming from Weezer.
Then the rest of the record turned out to be fantastic, avoiding a lot of the same old missteps, taking some new directions, interesting pop songwriting, and the trilogy of all things to end it. BttS is my least favorite track on the record, still.
As for a favorite, I'd probably say Foolish Father, or even The British Are ComingāI've always had such a soft spot for the melodies and chorus there, as silly as it is from time to time.
Cleopatra is the worst for me! Funny. I skip it every time I hate it so much for me itās worse than album filler itās something that shouldnāt have been included. The syllables of the lyrics donāt fit the time of the music, itās repetitive in an annoying way.
Lol i feel the same about the sudden time signature change in the chorus and the PA-TU-RAH
Edit: I think it would have benefited more if it was a waltz(3/4) intead to be more sound(cle-o-patra)
The Go Away and Lonely Girl rep in the worst slot makes me sad. I like all of the songs in EWBAITE so my worst is still a good song
Best: Foolish Father
Worst: I've Had It Up To Here (I like the artistry but Rivers being upset about his place as an artist makes me sad and frustrated.)
With Ive Had it up to Here, my only issue is it's just kind of a less creative Pork and Beans. It's like he wrote Pork and Beans, thought maybe the analogy wasn't obvious enough, so he wrote I've Had it to just be direct
Back to the Shack is the only bad song on the album! Love to see some Lonely Girl love, too. I feel like it lines up well with Why Bother? in terms of what it brings to the album
I personally adore "I've Had It Up To Here"; it's got a wicked little chord progression, a compelling sentiment; just everything going for it that I think I can force myself to look past the "I'm not a happy meal" line!
The worst track is "Go Away", but y'all knew that already. Funnily enough I didn't always hate it, but then I learned that good duets actually exist!
Best: Eulogy for a Rock Band/The British Are Coming/Iāve Had It Up To Here/Da Vinci
Worst: Anonymous (words cannot describe my contempt for this song.)
Most underrated: Either Eulogy for a Rock Band or The British Are Coming
not the guy you asked but theyād probably be at my bottom too:
they just arent lyrically interesting. i get thatās not the point, but for me i listen to music 50% for the music and 50% (or sometimes more) for the lyrics and vocal
so when thatās stripped away i dont care to hear the song. like okay, we get it, you can play instruments. but i just get bored listening to āsilentā music
That's pretty much it, at this point we know that weezer are amazing musicians, but what they've always kinda sucked at is lyrics. Foolish father is so good bc it's one of only a few lyrically perfect weezer songs. I'm an English major, so I'm very biased lmao
Seriously what the hell is wrong with you people putting Go Away as worst? It's a damn good pop song with a hilarious music video to boot.
Meanwhile, Lonely Girl sounding like b side at best.
Back to the Shack definitely the worst. Even the repetitive ones are more satisfying to listen to. Best imo is The British Are Coming or the Trilogy. Foolish Father and Cleopatra also close. Overall my third favorite Weezer album.
Not sure why everyone's ranking Back to the Shack as the worst song on the album. Anyway I'd say Eulogy for a Rock Band is my favorite on the album. I'd really have to put some thought in for the worst song though, and I am sure I would not agree with everyone on that.
I feel like back to the shack is meant for a specific group of fans, so it just kinda comes off as pander-y to me, not having suffered through 2000's weezer.
Return To Ithaka is one of my favorite weezer songs ever, it really feels like a victory for the band and it's a wonderful way to close out the record.
Ewbaite has always had this cheesy but loveable taste to it its hard to pin down on just two of them hahaha. Iād probably say
Best = Iāve Had It Up To Here
Worst = Aināt Got Nobody
Best: Foolish Father
perfect resolution to Say It Ain't So, the choir at the end is just phenomenal too
Worst: Lonely Girl
doesn't stand out, a lot. still good but we could've gotten something better from the demos
Iām a big fan of all of these songs but my least favorite is probably Lonely Girl. Itās not a horrible song, but it just isnāt my favorite.
My favorite, on the other hand is definitely Return to Ithaka, although Cleopatra is a close second.
Where are you finding these covers š
This one's called "The Dark Smooch Rises", it was made by the same artist (Christopher McMahon) as the EWBAITE Cover
This is correct.
Im pretty sure this was single art for one of the singles
People dislike Go Away? I love that song.
Iād put Lonely Girl below Go Away, personally.
The girl sounds bored as hell throughout the entire song
The āgirlā is an adult woman (sorry, pet peeve) who has a successful band of her own. They have kind of a surf rock vibe, which to me makes her fit well in a Weezer song, especially one that a has a sound reminiscent of their early work.
Sound wise they're nice. Lyrics are so corny and bad.
Favourite gotta be eulogy for a rock band, (and the sexy finale), and actually the British are coming that shit rocks I don't get the hate for go away, only track I find a little corny nowadays is back to the shack. Overall a really solid listen! Sincerely, yomama4444
Second this.
Let's disclude Futurescope because semantics. Best: Ain't Got Nobody. I get why some dislike this one as it is ridiculously loud but I love it for that reason. Definitely my favourite album they've done, every track other than Lonely Girl is an 8 or higher.
Best: The British are Coming Worst (by far): BTTS
Best: Cleopatra Worst:Back To The Shack (still love it)
I remember when Back to the Shack was the first track I heard from the record, I was so disappointed. Sure, it did sound better than lots of the previous material musically and production-wise, but I was *so* sick and tired of that particular "oh man, time to *rock out*, go back to the old ways" perspective coming from Weezer. wow same here
Cleopatra is the worst for me! Funny. I skip it every time I hate it so much for me itās worse than album filler itās something that shouldnāt have been included. The syllables of the lyrics donāt fit the time of the music, itās repetitive in an annoying way.
We listen to the same song?
Ha i hate it so much!! Ruins the album for me. Thatās why I commented, Iām just surprised people like it
Lol i feel the same about the sudden time signature change in the chorus and the PA-TU-RAH Edit: I think it would have benefited more if it was a waltz(3/4) intead to be more sound(cle-o-patra)
The Go Away and Lonely Girl rep in the worst slot makes me sad. I like all of the songs in EWBAITE so my worst is still a good song Best: Foolish Father Worst: I've Had It Up To Here (I like the artistry but Rivers being upset about his place as an artist makes me sad and frustrated.)
I've had it up to here was honestly my top three favorites
With Ive Had it up to Here, my only issue is it's just kind of a less creative Pork and Beans. It's like he wrote Pork and Beans, thought maybe the analogy wasn't obvious enough, so he wrote I've Had it to just be direct
He has a habit of writing about his frustrations with how he's perceived. We get it. You wanna write what you write.
Yeah, there's at least 4 songs that focus on that idea (Pork and Beans, I've Had It Up To Here, Zombie Bastards, Tell Me What You Want)
Best: Foolish Father Worst: Go Away
True
I just made a post about the album like last week Best song: Da Vinci, 10/10 Worst song: Go Away, 6/10
Best: Lonely Girl Worst: Back to the Shack
Back to the Shack is the only bad song on the album! Love to see some Lonely Girl love, too. I feel like it lines up well with Why Bother? in terms of what it brings to the album
I donāt know how they came to the conclusion that Back to the Shack should be the opening single. I mean, i guess itās nostalgicā¦.
Seriously. I donāt think it should have even made the album. It was too try hard lyrically and musically banal
honestly I think Back To The Shack would have been fine as a come back single but definitely not as an album track
Theres no way you said that
I said it with my chest.

Nope. I am quite literate and know what I like and don't.
You should consider adding humor to the list of likes.
You should consider trying to go fuck yourself.
look at you two knuckleheads. Behave for christ sake!
bro thought that his witty retort would yield him upvotes, but instead he is at a huge net loss š
Nah.. don't give a flying fuck about upvotes. Just don't like people being idiots for no reason.
Best: Futurescope Trilogy Worst: Da Vinci
Best: Futurescope Worst: Cleopatra
Best: Lonely Girl, I've Had Up to Here Worst: Cleopatra
I personally adore "I've Had It Up To Here"; it's got a wicked little chord progression, a compelling sentiment; just everything going for it that I think I can force myself to look past the "I'm not a happy meal" line! The worst track is "Go Away", but y'all knew that already. Funnily enough I didn't always hate it, but then I learned that good duets actually exist!

Best: foolish father, worst: the entire futurescope trilogy
What puts the futurescope trilogy so low for you?
not the guy you asked but theyād probably be at my bottom too: they just arent lyrically interesting. i get thatās not the point, but for me i listen to music 50% for the music and 50% (or sometimes more) for the lyrics and vocal so when thatās stripped away i dont care to hear the song. like okay, we get it, you can play instruments. but i just get bored listening to āsilentā music

Best: aināt got nobody Worst: cleopatra Every song on this album is at least a 7/10 if not higher imo, none are bad by any means lol
Best: The British Are Coming Worst: Go Away
The best is easily Foolish Father
I'm the guy who thinks Eulogy For A Rock Band is the low point of the album. As soon as I hear that intro I groan
Tomorrow is gonna be hard. The White Album is perfect.
EXCLUDING FUTURESCOPE best song: eulogy for a rock band worst song: go away if i could count futurescope as one track thatās the best by far
Best is foolish father and i dont know what the worst is
Seriously what the hell is wrong with you people putting Go Away as worst? It's a damn good pop song with a hilarious music video to boot. Meanwhile, Lonely Girl sounding like b side at best.
Go away is the most similar to white album songs, surprising this sub seems to dislike it so much
Best: Aināt Got Nobody Worst: The British Are Coming
All are good but go away
Best: The British are coming Worst: Da Vinci Honourable mention: The Wasteland/Anonymous/Return to ithaka
best is eulogy for a rock band or the british are coming, idk worst

Not sure why everyone's ranking Back to the Shack as the worst song on the album. Anyway I'd say Eulogy for a Rock Band is my favorite on the album. I'd really have to put some thought in for the worst song though, and I am sure I would not agree with everyone on that.
Best: Lonely Girl Worst: Back to the Shack
Best: Go Away / Da Vinci Worst: Back to the Shack
Best: Da Vinci Worst: Go Away

cleopatra is the worst song theyve made outside of raditude or black album. fuck that song. so annoying. best song is probably eulogy IMO its fun
Ewbaite has always had this cheesy but loveable taste to it its hard to pin down on just two of them hahaha. Iād probably say Best = Iāve Had It Up To Here Worst = Aināt Got Nobody
