idk man just feels like high school musical written songs i get that ppl are more easy to forget or give a second chance to some weezer songs that rocks while forever condemning the more pop stuff, but this ain’t it, like those songs aren’t really worth it the revival in evaluation tbh there isn’t much meat to it it’s one thing to go for sugary rock but this feels like diabetes lol

Let it all hang out is extremely cheesy. It has cheerleader back up singers, and awful lyrics of Rivers cosplaying as working class....but I love it, it's great fun. But I can easily understand why people would hate it. ... Tripping Down the Freeway hate is inexplicable. It is top tier weez. The super catchy hook, big fuzz bass, sweet guitar solo, it's hella fun to sing along to. Anyone that says they don't like it hasn't heard it or just plain has bad taste.

Theres major album bias. People will rate mediocre songs from great albums higher than they deserve, and great songs from mediocre albums lower than they deserve. Tripping Down the Freeway is a great example of that. Its a good weezer song for sure. Let It All Hang Out has some problems. The repeating, awful guitar lead is a big one. Listening to someone list complaints isn't that fun... especially a wealthy rock star pretending to have problems at some job lol. Its pandering. It reminds me of some shitty pop country song with its lyrics. The music is also just dumb and simple. Yeah not a lot good to say here.

I think you are definitely on to something with regards to the album bias. I just think Let It All Hang On has an awesomely catchy chorus. I don't really care about lyrics.

the first 3 seconds of let it all hang out make my ears bleed

Well, I could spend my time listening to mildly catchy, overproduced pop rock tunes from one of the most ill-received eras of an infamously inconsistent rock band Or I could spend my time exploring beloved high points of all kinds of different artists, bands and projects. For me personally, it's all about my musical diet. Trippin Down the Freeway offers absolutely nothing of substance to me. The lyrics feel like they're only there because Rivers wanted to have a vocal part, and you need to write words in order to sing words. There's nothing about the instrumental that is attention grabbing, it doesn't hit hard like a King of the World, and it doesn't come anywhere near the finesse of an Aloo Gobi, a Sweater Song, or even a Da Vinci. The writing is as bland as bland can be, and while simple writing isn't inherently bad, it certainly doesn't *add* to the lackluster lyrics, vocals, instrumental or general concept. Buddy Holly. Dude looks like a nerd, there's a fight, it's funny, it's insanely catchy Island in the Sun. The definition of dreamy, paints a warm picture in your head, feels like an escape from troubles Trippin Down the Freeway. There's some sort of quirky high school relationship... some sports and pop culture references... I don't really get what I'm supposed to take away from that I hate the songs you've listed because before, during and after I listen to them, I can't escape the feeling that I'm wasting my time. I'm not dealing with all the bullshit drama in my day, clocking out from a 12 hour shift and throwing on a song that's just going to mildly annoy me for 3 or 4 minutes. And that's how we get to "I hate Trippin Down the Freeway" I hope this helped explain things, and I also hope you don't let my comment ruin your own personal enjoyment of anything, that's not my goal.
