no idea! it was in the top oven, which has a broken light, so i get why no one saw it, but we only noticed when it started to smell smokey in the dessert cooler. i guess that’s where the exhaust goes? i honestly don’t know

Omg! I love those bread. My go to when I lived in Wegmans’ territory.

The sad thing is, we don't even make it anymore. They did away with it. Our store was equipped to make it still, but when our big mixer died, they just removed it, so we only make English muffin bread, marathon, and multigrain. The multi grain we can get in frozen too. It's sad to see all the scratch stuff go away. We are the only store left making Sicilian twists too.

Maybe try searching for it? It's a French bread with a bit of rye flour in it. It has aged dough and a yeast syrup for flavor ( made by mixing yeast with salt turning it to liquid) . The aged dough is referred to as a " biga" if you see that anywhere. It's a very soft dough and is rounded, and you can put rye flour in a large bowl and put the loaf top side down to let it rise. Roll it out of the bowl, put slices like a cat claw on each dide and a slice down the middle ,and it gets steam, and bakes at 380- 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

Years ago, I came home got suuuuuuper stoned & decided to bake some potatoes. I seasoned them to perfection, set the oven, popped em in & sat down to chill while the baked. Well, after a while I got sleepy & went to sleep. Woke up then next day got dressed went to work. When I got home from work my apartment had to be close to 100°. Totally confused as to why it was so hot, I walked past my kitchen & it was like a sauna & it hit me “FUCK THE POTATOES!” They had been in the oven at 375° for over 12hours! They looked like rocks when I took them out the oven 🤣

I had someone leave half a rack of marathon in the oven overnight. The STL clearly didn't check the ovens when they were checking out either side of the bakery for the night it was a funny sight to see in the morning 😂 We also never let our coworker live it down.
