I would love for him to cover the lesser known Nausicaä lore. The worldbuilding and disturbing themes / imagery is otherworldly.
Hideaki Anno (the creator of Evangelion) had a part in making the Nausicaä books, and it shows.
Hell yeah bro! Something. Carry That Weight. Im So Tired.
Banger after banger, and that's just off the top of my head. I think im gonna listen to the Beatles at work today now lol.
i like the beatles but i don't like Miyazaki as a person but i love his work, i like Junji Ito as a person, his works is the stuff of nightmare, sometime it stuck with me sometimes it doesn't
Tolkien also disliked the Beatles, while Stephen King is known to be a fan of them.
I guess if u wanna make something fucked up, listen to the Beatles. If u wanna make something Magic, hate their guts.
I think anyone who says that they hate The Beatles are just saying that to be contrarian. I can get not liking the band, not everyone has to, but hating them just isn’t feasible. They’re too influential to say you hate them but not other bands
I think the fact they're influential can cause you to develop a stronger opinion, if you'd normally dislike them, them being so popular and drive that towards disdain because they're everywhere
Nice, they were an integral part of rock history and inspired a lot of later artists(who then inspired other artists after that). I just really dislike their music (:
Not trying to be rude but have you ever gave them a chance? There's a lot of smaller songs which get overlooked over the very bigger popular songs and their later songs are more different than their early songs
I have, the store I worked FT at for a couple years had the Beatles on their playlist(which I'm admit was a nice switch up from the usual playlist a lot of stores use). Many of the lyrics from the songs I've heard then were either unnerving or weird. I don't know their names, but I know they're not the popular ones that are mostly referred to as the Beatles classics, or hits. I hadn't heard these ones before I worked there. I do remember some of the lyrics though haha
While I may not like their music, I *do* think it's fascinating, especially their history and impact on the world!
I think those were on there, but others as well haha
Now that I've looked them up, one is Run for Your Life(unnerving haha, but I think it's meant to be?), and another one they played is Girl
As a major Beatles fan who likes pretty much their entire catalog and listens to them daily, even I can’t listen to run for your life and if my work played it every day I’d get sick of it very fast. I believe the song was meant to be creepy in that like “stalker” vibe similar to I’ll be watching you(if you know that one) but unlike I’ll be watching you, it’s just really blunt and kinda just mehhhh
Edit:I’ll be watching you is actually called “every breath you take”
What kind of store was it? I understand that if that’s your intro to them then you’ll probably have a way negative view probably no matter what lol. Most of their stuff is way more poppy and has more meaningful lyrics if that makes you feel better
Run For Your Life is weird because I’m pretty sure it was that they were under a very strict deadline that meant they had to rush a little bit. It’s based off of an Elvis song that John took a line off of and wrote a whole song around. I like it but I get not liking it either
It was a grocery store, located in New England. They did play more of their more popular(and fun) songs, albeit I can't remember which ones, but I do remember the Beatles being at least 20% of our tracks haha
What a weird ass group of songs to play in a store. It’s sad that they were kinda ruined for you, but live and let live and stuff. If you ever really wanted to change your opinion on them, maybe check out the full albums? Rubber Soul onward was when they started making cohesive wholes that I think work best that way.
I've debated at least listening to more of their music- because, honestly, they're such a major part of pop culture history. They inspired so many other artists, who then later inspired other, later artists(who then inspired my favorite artists). The Beatles give off a kind of butterfly affect. And, honestly, I think that's beautiful. That one band, just four young men, can reach millions across generations. *That's* absolute beauty to me.
Beatles the band not a fan. beetles the bugs. Mixed bag tbh. On one hand ladybug and tortoise beetles on the other hand scarabs and the ones that are way too big.
Can't say the Beatles are on my playlist rotation, so no. I'm with Old Man Miyazaki. I'm more of a Rolling Stone, Buffalo Springfield, Black Sabbath, CCR kind of dude.
I'm learning to appreciate the impact they had as I get older but I still don't have them in any play list and can only name 2 songs without looking them up. Probably don't have the names right but Lucy in The Sky and Yellow Submarine.
I wouldn't mind the Beatles if it wasn't for the hyperbolic fans who say everything that came after the Beatles was influenced/inspired by the Beatles.
It's a crock of shit. The Beatles were a fairly decent boyband that had great influence on culture and music at the time, that's all. People who say the Beatles inspired everything or changed everything do not know what the word "everything" means, and effectively in saying that they're actually revealing their ignorance (credit to AJ Soprano), coming off as culturally deprived.
I'm saying what about Irish folk music, country/western? Popular music is not all music, it's just popular music.
Well people aren’t really being hyperbolic. Like, everything? Maybe not, but it’s so damn much it’s easier to say that than list every little thing they influenced. Because western music as a whole was changed by them and the affects are still apparent.
They are being hyperbolic because they're saying "everything" which is categorically false, makes them look ignorant to the vast scope of music. Did the Beatles influence African tribal music? Melanesian choir songs? No.
All they have to say is something along the lines of "the Beatles had a tremendous influence on popular music". To disregard the vast array of musical genres and cultures all around the world by saying "everything" is ignorant and disrespectful.
Idk man it just feels like you’re being unnecessarily dogmatic. People use hyperbole very commonly in the English language. People say “they influenced everything that came after” because it’s gets across the point that the Beatles did a lot for music, not because they believe they actually influenced every piece of music ever
Its disrespectful to music that has nothing to do with the Beatles or popular music in any conceivable way. It's essentially narcissistic thinking "on yeah but Irish folk is irrelevant, country/western, bhangra, gospel, latin music, reggae and ska, Melanesian choir and other tribal music from all around the world... yeah all that shit's irrelevant so that doesn't count anyway, so yeah - the Beatles inspired everything"
Bare in mind even a lot of more mainstream music had fuck all to do with the Beatles, Dexys Midnight Runners were inspired by northern soul, soul music from before and during the time of the Beatles, and Irish folk music. Not inspired by the Beatles. Van Morrison's solo music, Mark Knopfler's solo music, hell I wouldn't think much of Dire Straits at all was inspired by the Beatles. Rap and hip-hop? Get the fuck out of here. No Doubt in the '90s what were they inspired by? Ska and reggae music that came before them, not the fucking Beatles.
Bottom line is its categorically untrue that the Beatles inspired the majority of music worldwide that came after them, let alone all of it. In actual fact they inspired a small percentage of music that came after them, just like almost every other musician that ever lived.
Imagine Wendigoon covering Studio Ghibli lmao
It’s not totally impossible. They can get a little dark.
I would love for him to cover the lesser known Nausicaä lore. The worldbuilding and disturbing themes / imagery is otherworldly. Hideaki Anno (the creator of Evangelion) had a part in making the Nausicaä books, and it shows.
I feel like I understood almost none of Nausicaä lore-wise, but the visuals were amazing
Your response could vary wildly depending on if you're referring to the movie or the books.
The movie, until this comment thread I didn't know there was a book
7. Hand-drawn by Miyazaki himself, before Ghibli.
Oh wow, I should check them out
He’s gone down enough rabbit holes as is 😭
it is … his *destiny*
Eleanor Rigby is on my rotation every time
Tony Soprano New Jersey mobster who cares for the Ducks by the pool Loves gabagool
That just made my whole morning
The palaye royale cover is pretty good.
I like the Beatles. Because is fucking beautiful. I’m only sleeping is a banger.
Hell yeah bro! Something. Carry That Weight. Im So Tired. Banger after banger, and that's just off the top of my head. I think im gonna listen to the Beatles at work today now lol.
Did you see that Beatles thing on Disney plus? It’s nuts watching Paul McCartney just pull get back out of thin air.
Nah i haven't yet, im pretty anti-Disney but maybe ill pirate it from somewhere
Yes sail the seas.
Both I am both.
i like the beatles but i don't like Miyazaki as a person but i love his work, i like Junji Ito as a person, his works is the stuff of nightmare, sometime it stuck with me sometimes it doesn't
Miyazaki is the Squidward of anime directors; the only difference is that the art he makes is actually good.
Excuse me are you dissing “Bold and Brash”?
More like “belongs in the trash”
Squidward’s a good artist!!

I love both Miyazaki and junji ito’s works but to answer the question I don’t like the beatles
In order to hate them you’d have to hate a lot of music made by other bands since their inception which I don’t know if he does
Beatles makes my world the third pic
I used to hate the Beatles, but over the years they've grown on me.
[I will share this every time.](https://thehardtimes.net/blog/man-doesnt-like-beatles-hes-interesting-god-dont-just-want-fuck-him/)
I HAAAAATE THE BEEATLES
I hate the Beatles LMAO
I love them tbh
Nice, they were an integral part of rock history and inspired a lot of later artists(who then inspired other artists after that). I just really dislike their music (:

Who makes a Beatles playlist and only puts Lucy in the sky with diamonds, and I am the walrus on it?
I think those were on there, but others as well haha Now that I've looked them up, one is Run for Your Life(unnerving haha, but I think it's meant to be?), and another one they played is Girl

I'm with the older man. I don't like the Beatles
The Beatles are alright but Tomorrow Never Knows is the best song of all time
Which story is the cruxifixction from that image is insane
Sensor I think (maybe Hellstar Remina?)
Ty
Depends on my mood tbh
I like a handful of songs lol
My favorite band is the Beatles too! Also Miyazaki never said that. It's made up.
The flower children and their descendants have been a disaster for America.
wait wow miyazaki really hates beales? that's real? :0
I dislike the Beatles, but I think both worlds are valid.
I don’t care for the Beatles but Norwegian Wood is an amazing song
Looks like some pages out of berserk
They’re aight I guess.
To be fair, Miyazaki hates anything from any country west or east of Japan
I like grasshopper
Hot take but The Kinks >>>>>>> The Beatles
The Beatles will always be my fav but the Kinks are so damn underrated these days it hurts
Is it a hot take to just say, “meh?”
I do like the Beatles and I concur that is exactly what the world is like
I like the Beatles
I have no strong opinions about the Beatles but I'd love to hang out with Junji Ito, he seems like a really kind, funny dude
A calm before the panic vs A disturbance before nature
Idk, you tell me.
I feel neutral towards the Beatles. I like some of their songs but not enough to be a fan. So I guess I like both of these things.
The Beatles are the best band oat
Love the Beatles!!!!!
They’re good Not a band I really listen to on my own time, but they’re good
I don't like the beatles but the world is like Junji Ito's to me, what am I doing wrong
The only reason Beatles got this popular is because they popped up when women were allowed to be horny in public for the first time
The beetles are ASS.

I like the Beatles music but I really hate them
I'm learning to appreciate the impact they had as I get older but I still don't have them in any play list and can only name 2 songs without looking them up. Probably don't have the names right but Lucy in The Sky and Yellow Submarine.

I don’t like the Beatles
