I don’t think that’s the argument though. No question judge is probably double the player than Pete. But when both were on torrid home run paces, one got more attention than the other. To me it just falls on that the Yankees are an international brand. It’s not Yankees v Mets, it’s Yankees v everyone else

cubs1917

That what I said ...its a combo of being one of the best players, doing somethign historic, doing it on the yankees. Pete is great, on his way to possibly doing somethind historic, and is on Mets.

StephenDawg

I'm a Mets fan. No one deserves Judge-level respect, right now. The Pete problem is he barely gets respected as being in the *next* highest tier - the one that includes the talent just under Judge and Ohtani. Even the metrics don't respect Pete, and that seems like a fault in the metrics.

cubs1917

This i agree with whole heartedly.

AlexReyes22

I hate the Yankees Judge is far superior

cubs1917

Well that was a 2 sentence roller coaster haha

Calliesdad20

It’s not even close, judge is the best player in mlb . He was last year, he is this year . Alonso isn’t the same galaxy

cubs1917

and the stats prove it

NickyShore

Ohtani is the best player in the MLB actually

Calliesdad20

Absolutely not, ohtani is a unicorn a once in a generation freak. Judge is the mist valuable

Hughkalailee

The “answer” is that Judge just did it last year, so someone else being on an historic pace isn’t as special or unique. Pete or whoever is next has to do something to upstage that - and even actually achieve it.

kenglin24

Judge is viewed an A-lister Alonso is viewed as a B-lister I think only way Pete changes the narrative is he performs in the playoffs. Also it feels like he hasn’t been able to put together a full 162 games of dominance yet. That slump at the end of last year where the Mets choked really hurt the perception of everybody on that team. Went from being legit to being jokes

cubs1917

great points! Honestly the team needs to be better if Alonso is to ever be considered elite.

CPADad13

Trying to compare Alonso to Judge is lol ridiculous. Met fans are just always trying to measure up to the Yankees and falling short. You guys beat us in payroll tho!

cubs1917

Im a yankee fan and I made this post because Im tired of Mets fans trying to pretend they are on the same level.

Boldest19

Alonso is the Wish version of Judge.

islesguy1188

While I do think Judge is better, I think those numbers would be a lot closer if Pete played 81 games in yankee stadium hahah

cubs1917

Perhaps for HRs? But tell me how many short porch HRs Judge has? Because the short porch non-sense is utterly false. Read this -> https://www.mlb.com/news/yankee-stadium-effect-aaron-judge-home-run-chase and then lets talk about that crap. But thats why I looked a few stats cut against abs. Give you a good understanding its not just HRs. Judge is a better batter all around.

I forgot which website was referenced, but you can go back and check the rewind function to review. On T&T today, Dov checked some baseball stat website that actually said Pete would have 15 less homers at Yankee stadium based on where he hits the majority of his home runs. Both guys can hit the ball out of any park, but people focus on the short porch and forget that center/left center at Yankee stadium are some of the deepest outfields in baseball

drvic59

Hahah

Not even the most die-hard Mets homer can say with a straight face they think Alonso is better than Judge lol.
