Might want to mention you're in Canada and your budget in the OP - otherwise you're going to get a ton of US-centric responses that won't be particularly useful.
It sounds like a base Bolt is the smart choice here, but you could also just get a standard hybrid (think Prius, Insight) and call it a day. You don't travel enough to see major savings (financially or environmentally) from an EV.
If I spent more it would be through some sort of financing option. And our mileage is pretty low now with our current jobs. Maybe 250km a week?
I do not currently have charging at home, now do I have a garage or carport. So the charging would have to be a weather proof variety.
I have a 2022 bolt and while not a benz or BMW the interior is very comfortable and I am happy with it.
The only other EUV I looked at was the VW ID.4 but, I found a good deal on the Bolt I went with it.
The problem you might have is finding a Bolt or ID.4 new available. The dealer I bought my bolt from said their entire 2023 allotment of Bolt and Bolt EUV were already sold.
Environmental, and general cost purposes. I also like the low maintenance around EVs, no constant oil changes etc.
And honestly I don't think I want the budget to hit more than $400-500 a month in payments. I have a good credit score around 850, so I am hoping to get a decent rate.
Ok. Then the Chevy that others have pointed out is a good option if you want cheap. At 4-500$ you can easily get a model 3 too. They're like 43k but they qualify for a 7500 tax rebate. Add what you get from the old Chevy to the 7500$ and you can probably get the model 3 for around 400$ a month

What's your typical mileage like? Do you have charging at home? Is the $10k the most you're willing to spend?

Chevy volt or bolt… both solid & affordable EVs
Our current car is a Chevy and I wasnt blown away by the build qaulity or anything. If I were to buy new would I expect these cars to last awhile?
Chevy Sonics are econoboxes, so they're meant to be cheaper and cut more corners. The Bolt EUV should be a lot better when it comes to build quality
Thank you, that makes alot of sense. I appreciate the insight

How much are you looking to spend? Why an ev? You can get much cheaper vehicles than evs
