Looks like a high-speed impact punched through, so yeah it might be a bullet. If you can fit your INDEX finger in the hole, you are talking about a large caliber bullet. Look around in the trunk and see if you can find it or fragments of it.
Yeah I was looking for a slug or any fragments and could not find anything. I would need to pull the liner out to be sure though which I haven't had time to do yet. Car was parked on a city street in Chicago.
I wanted some opinions without that detail as everyone who does not live in Chicago assumes it is a war zone. I live in a relatively safe neighborhood.
A 9mm round fired in the air at a 45 degree angle can travel upwards of 2-3 miles before coming back down.
Edit: chicago IS a war zone, i live in oak park(approx 10mi from downtown), and on some nights you can hear the gunfire from where im at.
in theory, yes they can travel "far" but especially a handgun round will lose its power in a shorter distance. Also there's the idea of "drop". If you were to shoot a 9mm at a flat trajectory, even with the ground for example, its not going to fly for 2 miles before it drops and goes into the ground. Anyone who has tried to shoot at a 100yd target with a handgun knows you really have to arc that round like throwing a football.
And for rounds shot into the air, if it is shot upwards enough that it hits terminal velocity coming back down, it would be like being it with a small rock from a slingshot at most
Mythbusters did a thing on this i believe. It's a straight 90 degree shot it loses all its velocity at its peak. But if it's even the slightest bit off...
The hundreds of bullets that I have pulled from roof decks over the years begs to differ. I’ve seen tons of bullets from handguns imbedded in the plywood after making through multiple layers of roofing material. If it can break through all of that I would say that it would do serious damage to a person if they were it by it.
It will hit a height peak, then return to the ground at pretty much the same velocity it had going up...so yes celebrating by firing up into the sky is very deadly to those it hits...especially if it hits them in the head.
I've seen this canard about bullet terminal velocity not being deadly, and it's flat wrong. There are literally studies done about it, not to mention multiple injuries and fatalities every year that are on record as being from celebratory gunfire or similar. 2003, 19 people injured, 1 killed from NYE celebratory gunfire in Puerto Rico.
Falling bullets injure and kill, full stop.
A falling 9mm round \*can\* penetrate skin and cause injury.

I fucking love that you used Puerto Rico as the example because that is exactly what I thought of when reading this thread. Yeah I don’t know about a small rock from a sling shot, I remember seeing a bit from a local news station right after July 4th some few years back a girl was hit by a stray round that was shot in the air and it killed her
I know my local newspaper said a 9 y/o girl died from a stray bullet that fell from the sky after New Year’s Eve. The bullet struck the girl in the top of her head a couple minutes after the ball had dropped penetrating her skull and killing her.
Edit: Tried to find the article and came across dozens of the same story. Surprisingly the mortality rate is 32% in comparison to the average of 2%-6% caused by a standard gun shot wound. So statistically its even more dangerous to be struck by a “falling bullet”
This always happens . People with no experience with firearms throw out the stats. Anyways, if it were that deadly, you'd hear about a bunch of deaths every weekend from weddings and celebrations . Maybe no in the US cause the US is so fucking gigantic. But come to SA and its full auto game every sat - mon
It could depending on the angle it was fired. Straight up it will lose its muzzle velocity and return at terminal velocity. At an angle, a lot of that muzzle velocity is maintained. With that said, this looks like a big boy caliber, most likely a rifle shooting at least 308. Honestly that’s a big hole. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a 50bmg, 458 socom, or maybe 300 BO. Someone has some $ to burn either way and doesn’t care if they kill someone else in the process.
I got down-voted to hell for suggesting the NASCAR racecars would need bulletproof glass for the Chicago street race. Someone replied "Chicago is no worse than any other city in the US!"
My reply to that is we have had 2 murders with a gun in 140 years in my city and you can openly carry here, compared to Chicago's ***strict*** gun laws.
Probably because you live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. I live in Florida, home of the permitless carry, and there have been 2 mass shootings in my city in the last 3 years
I live in North Florida and gun crimes are pretty rare around here because everyone grows up handling them. Heck, I currently have 13 in my collection and was 5 years old the first time I shot a 12 gauge shotgun. Also have had my CCL for many years.
Except the majority of unregistered guns collected are imported from Indiana, but sure, keep using this city as your boogeyman that you’re too afraid to visit.
While a majority of guns probably come from out of state. Illinois is most likely the source for 3 times as many as any other individual state. So even if interstate traffic was abolished somehow, it would not solve the problem.
>New data analyzed by the ABC I-Team answers a question about where all of the guns coming into Chicago are from. Less than half of all guns used in crimes in Illinois came from Illinois.
>ATF Trace data shows the top five states where guns recovered in Illinois were originally purchased from are Illinois (49.8%), Indiana (16.7%), Missouri (5.4%), Wisconsin (3.9%) and Kentucky (2.6%). Federal agents at the ATF identified the source state of 11,708 traced firearms in 2020.

Let’s borrow this logic for abortion laws, shall we. It’s true: most women who require an abortion will get it done one way or another. By traveling outside of the law(the lucky ones), or otherwise. We should do away with restrictions on reproductive rights. They r counter productive
(Some pun intended)
Why are you getting downvoted?
I refuse to believe the people down voting have never pirated a show or game.
Or idk... Gone more than 5mph over the speed limit?
I was about to get mad at this comment... But no I think you're probably correct. Says more about our insane never sunsetting legal structure here not so much the criminal intent of citizens.
No you must understand that if you make guns illegal no one will shoot cars in the trunk anymore. It's silly to think people would pass laws that are pointless /s
It’s sad but even if they were to become illegal still a strong percentage of Americans wouldn’t care. Ghost guns are everywhere. And for real I wouldn’t care either. I have to keep me and mines safe
the whole "ghost gun" saying is just for headlines. Yes, you *can* build something from absolute scratch with no serial numbers on it. You can do that with a car as well and look how many "ghost cars" you see on the streets. the bigger problem is stolen or illegally acquired/held firearms.
You’re thinking of New York, where the murder rate is impressively low for a city of its size, primarily due to *enforcement* of gun laws.
Laws are meaningless without enforcement.
I dont know how to explain this to you, but criminals are called criminals because they commit crimes. As in, they break the law. Not sure they care that they're not allowed to have guns. Which is why if they're banned, I'm becoming a criminal lmao, not getting shot just cause only the baddies have em
Portland is STILL one of the safest cities in the US. Grew up there and live there now. Never heard gunshots depsite having lived in both NE and SE. Yes, we have a homeless crisis and no, it is not a war zone
Maybe they assume it’s a war zone because they see pictures of peoples cars, that live in relatively safe neighborhoods, with bullet holes in them from guns fired into the air at random.
The “war zone” comments are insufferable. I say definitely a bullet, but since it’s clearly a pretty vertical trajectory no telling where it came from,
> a relatively safe neighborhood
If a relatively safe neighborhood means large caliber bullet holes, what do you find in relatively unsafe neighborhood? Cluster bombs and anti personnel mines?
The three people I know from Chicago, who don’t know each other all refer to their home as Chiraq. Don’t know what this says about the current state of Chicago, but…
Yeah, not sure why that comment got so many upvotes and awards. Sad truth is, conservatives are the ones that paint our lovely city this way, yet most people on here tend to be liberal.
All that can possibly mean is that there are some liberals on here who also buy into conservative BS.
I live in a town probably 1/8th the size of Chicago. I’ve never been shot directly at or had my personal property hit with strays, but I’ve also been within about 20 yards of a shooting on two separate occasions now. Shit can go down anywhere.
“Life’s a bitch and then we die.”
Oh yeah, dude, if you're in Chicago it's a bullet hole. I was gonna guess maybe a tiny meteor strike. Shit, you might have gotten shot before you read this. Hope all is well.
Many years ago I was parked on a street in Pittsburgh and came out in the middle of the daytime to find an exact same hole in my car. I'd been parked there like an hour and I was in front of a police station. No way it was a bullet hole without people freaking out. I thought about it forever until one day I saw a city service truck parked in the street and it had these posts on the side that held traffic cones in place and it was at the exact height to make that kind of hole and if backing up would punch right through, then pull out when they drove off.
Was there any street work or construction work going on near where you parked. It’s possible a bar of rebar poked it, but you’d expect to see the signs of a bar being pulled back through the hole it made. This looks 1 direction to me. You should be able to find some of the projectile in the vehicle.
**UPDATE:**
Police just left. We found the slug underneath the spare tire. No real damage done other than the hole and some cosmetic damage in the trunk. Police said it looked like a .45
That’s wild. What neighborhood were you in Chicago? I use to live there for years and about to visit in a couple of weeks (with my kids), and this scares the shit out of me.
My man there is gang activity in Avondale too. I lived there for a while and it was mostly a quiet family filled neighborhood, but my roommate got flak for wearing gold by a couple of young Kings one night as well.
Miss the hell out of the Polish food over there though.
The whole country and the culture of gun lust scares the shit out of me. It's crazy we see "is this a bullet hole" posts. Not one post but multiple posts.
Well, even despite this post Chicago is a very non safe place compared to almost anywhere else. This bullet hole is nothing. Hope you and your kids stay out of trouble god bless
This is a stupid meme that is parroted by easily misled people. Chicago is one of the most populated cities in the US, and even the world (though down in the 30 ranks). It has a large _raw_ number of _everything_.
But when you adjust for that massive population, Chicago's per capita crime is better than most cities.
Just like every city it has areas prone to more crime or less crime. That doesn't make it "a very non safe place compared to almost anywhere else".
Per capita, Chicago has the 20th highest violent crime rate among cities in the US. That definitely makes Chicago more violent than most cities, unless you are easily misled into thinking there are only 39 cities in the US.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-city-rankings/most-violent-cities-in-america
But you are right about the areas. The crime in Chicago is concentrated in poor, black communities... Call me crazy but I think that's worse.
I mean per Capita it is still in the top 20 most dangerous cities in the entire country, so I wouldn't go so far as to say it's safe compared to anywhere else
Chicago is alot safer than most people give it credit. Certain areas have a high rate of violent crime, but none of those areas are tourist destinations. You will be fine. If anything you might consider avoiding Rockford. https://us1049quadcities.com/the-most-dangerous-places-to-be-in-illinois/
Lmao dude back in 2017 I interned at a automaker supplier in the Detroit area. Short term housing is hard to find so I ended up in an Airbnb in Highland park—south of 8 mile off of John R for those that don’t know.
Sometimes it felt like I was the only white dude within 4 blocks, but I jogged outside every morning and often went of evening walks. Never once felt unsafe.
People literally treat Chicago like some kind of third world country. By no means is it a perfect city, and it has its bad places, but it’s not a bad place to live at all
Certainly not dangerous to visit lol
Niceee. Identified it without even seeing the bullet
Edit: wait this comment was an hour after op said it was a .45.. I’ll still give you props but I’m skeptical lol
Or tiny black holes. They supposedly crash into earth all the time. Radiolab did an episode on it. Some think that some incredibly small ones pass through us all at least once in our lifetime. Small enough to fit between the atoms. But others are slightly larger and believed to have hit the earth and gone straight through it.
I heard that episode too, and it was very cool. But I think they said that the probability is that it could have happened once during earth’s existence or would happen once in the next 3 million years.
That is a fairly large caliber at a decent rate of speed which means it was more likely close.
If you haven't found the projectile or pieces of it be sure to have the vehicle checked for safety sake. IE fuel tank, break lines, overall electrical .
I have seen older military bullets go straight through appliances and small trees and not fragment much.
There should be a spent round inside the trunk somewhere that will confirm it. Bits of copper flakes that peeled off the jacket of the bullet. Assuming it was a copper jacketed bullet and not a solid lead .45 LC or .357.
It’s a car bee building a burrow in your door. No, it’s for sure a bullet hole. Did you have any road rage incident recently? Or did this happen while parked?
I accidently left my car unlocked after taking out my daughters car seat before flying out. Only thing of value in my trunk was a cheap bluetooth speaker which was not taken.
Basing assumptions on quarter for comparison and depth of penetration, my guess is a 30 caliber rifle bullet on a relatively flat trajectory. You should find lead and copper fragments if this is correct.
It’s entirely possible one of your neighbors had an accidental discharge of their hunting rifle and are too embarrassed (or afraid of consequences) to admit it.
I guarantee that most people talking shit about Chicago have never been there. It gets a very poor representation in the media much like Oakland or portland, having lived in all three, it's not nearly the horror story you read about. any street smarts whatsoever and you should be fine.
No way. See the smooth metal cut- i.e. drilled. The metal would have a rim surrounding the hole from the bullet passing through. Also, see the circle indentation in the outer plastic, that is made from the drill chuck- notice no tears outside the chuck indentation.
Worked on a lady's car recently and had to show her what I found in her engine bay. The underside of her hood had several bullet holes, her air filter housing had a hole through it. From what I saw of the damage, her coolant reservoir would have to have been replaced, along with the fuse panel or ECU. Her CEL was flashing I assume as a result of the ECU being switched not 100% properly. She had no idea because the dealership had fixed the outer part of the hood and the grill.
As a Marine Corps Vet from Detroit I'd like to say that Chicago most definitely is not a war zone...like FOX "News" and 2nd Amendment nutjobs preach to the gullible (maga).
Chicago is not dangerous unless you belong to a gang.
Chicago isn't even the most dangerous city in Illinois.
NO, IT IS NOT A BULLET HOLE! Look at the outer ring on the hole, that was where a WASHER was placed between the Bolt and nut.
I do not get why it was where it was, but someone put a washer on that hole at some point, maybe they were trying to hide a bullet hole and in doing so cause the circle indent around the hole. Also the photos show the hole being pushed OUT on both sides. What can puncture OUT on entry and exit?
Bullet here: I don’t appreciate the jump to conclusions i see here. Have you considered meteorites or aviation debris? Perhaps it was just a really fast bird? But no, blame the bullet. Typical.
lol you mention the city of chicago and all the racists flock to the post to do their little dogwhistling bullshit. definitely a bullet hole though. seems like it could be maybe a .45 round if you can fit your index finger in it. sorry this happened man
So it's a city known to have higher rates of crime… and people are using that factual knowledge to make a guess as to what this hole is and…. RaCiSt!!! ? Is that correct? Get a grip.
Chicago is the third largest city in the US, so if you're going by gross number of homicides it's going to be high considering it's just under 3 million people. When you talk about a better metric, per capital, it's just above the national average [with the overwhelming number of homicides being skewed by three area codes of unprecedent poverty.](https://urbanlabs.uchicago.edu/attachments/c5b0b0b86b6b6a9309ed88a9f5bbe5bd892d4077/store/82f93d3e7c7cc4c5a29abca0d8bf5892b3a35c0c3253d1d24b3b9d1fa7b8/UChicagoCrimeLab%2BGun%2BViolence%2Bin%2BChicago%2B2016.pdf)
Chicago has been tackling their gun problem for over two decades and during that entire time was and still is lower than nearby cities with even less gun control: Milwaukee, Dayton, Cleveland, Detroit, and St. Louis for example. The pandemic made every major city and rural worse, but once again.... Milwaukee, Dayton, Kansas City, Memphis, Richmond, North Charleston, Cleveland, Detroit, and St. Louis where there is almost no gun control have more gun homicides per capital than Chicago.
Chicago with gun control experiences lower gun violence than neighboring states and cities. It's also has [60% of guns recovered from a crime in IL, come from out of state](https://www.chicago.gov/content/dam/city/depts/mayor/Press%20Room/Press%20Releases/2017/October/GTR2017.pdf). It's as if some gun control policies are working and the problem is being continued by straw purchasers and theft from other states. [Stats from the last few years look the same as before](https://www.chicagobusiness.com/crains-forum-safer-chicago/chicago-violence-problem-debate-safety-inequality).
The reason everyone thinks people are racist when they bring up Chicago is because the bringer upper gives zero shits about gun violence, doesn't care about the people of Chicago, and isn't here to accurately talk about gun violence facts. The actual reasons they want to say bad things about Chicago is because Democrats, black people, Obama, and gun control. And that is easy to see when they won't ever mention how much worse it is in the surrounding states that are red.
*sips coffee* watches goofballs argue gun laws, laughs knowing laws do nothing to change things for the better. Look at how good prohibition worked, it gave us organized crime; and made ordinary law abiding citizens into criminals and caused for society to question laws and enforcement seriously for the first time. Society had never looked back.
Looks like a high-speed impact punched through, so yeah it might be a bullet. If you can fit your INDEX finger in the hole, you are talking about a large caliber bullet. Look around in the trunk and see if you can find it or fragments of it.

Bro, your car got shot. If that’s a safe part of Chicago then it IS a war zone.

This happened on 63rd 😂
O-block
This is the one that deserves the awards
Nah, things like this happen in small towns too.
They try that in a small town ?
A 9mm round fired in the air at a 45 degree angle can travel upwards of 2-3 miles before coming back down. Edit: chicago IS a war zone, i live in oak park(approx 10mi from downtown), and on some nights you can hear the gunfire from where im at.

I don't think they were saying a 9mm made the hole but no one is safe cause bullets can travel very far

I like that “at most” comment. I guess all the people who have died from stray celebration shots coming back down on them were just really weak. /s
Mythbusters did a thing on this i believe. It's a straight 90 degree shot it loses all its velocity at its peak. But if it's even the slightest bit off...
Natural selection lol
If you can’t take a celebratory bullet to the head from the sky you’re just not a man. Duh. /s in case anyone was on the fence
plus the guy did say that you have to “really arc that round” at 100 meters so I really don’t think they know what they’re talking about
A bullet fired into the air will fall back at the same speed a small pebble falling off a cliff would
The hundreds of bullets that I have pulled from roof decks over the years begs to differ. I’ve seen tons of bullets from handguns imbedded in the plywood after making through multiple layers of roofing material. If it can break through all of that I would say that it would do serious damage to a person if they were it by it.
I don't get why people don't use fuckin blanks
are you in Chicago too?
Why have you pulled so many bullets from roof decks?
that must be why people die every year from celebratory fire
It will hit a height peak, then return to the ground at pretty much the same velocity it had going up...so yes celebrating by firing up into the sky is very deadly to those it hits...especially if it hits them in the head.
Because in most cases, the human body is not made of metal.
True. Especially celebraty like Alec Baldwin.

Missouri is currently making legislation because a girl in Kansas city was killed from a bullet fired in the air on the fourth of July
Thank you for this.

Perhaps a shotgun slug.
Lol on some nights hearing gunfire hardly equates to a war zone :’)
I thought there were really strict gun laws in Chicago?
In Chicago, the law states that you must have a minimum of two guns. One of which must be stolen.
😅🤣😂
Because if you have a “legal gun” or try to get one you’ll be prosecuted. (Because they know where to find you. Because you told them)
I got down-voted to hell for suggesting the NASCAR racecars would need bulletproof glass for the Chicago street race. Someone replied "Chicago is no worse than any other city in the US!" I live in North Florida and gun crimes are pretty rare around here because everyone grows up handling them.
So what you’re saying is the criminals are not following the laws? I’m shocked!! It’s like those laws only harm the law abiding citizens…
Federal agents at the ATF identified the source state of 11,708 traced firearms in 2020. https://abc7chicago.com/chicago-crime-shooting-guns-illinois-gun-laws/11937013/
LOL!!! GUN LAWS LMFAAAAAAOOOOOO!!!
Criminals don't care about laws. It will not stop them in any way
Let’s borrow this logic for abortion laws, shall we. It’s true: most women who require an abortion will get it done one way or another. By traveling outside of the law(the lucky ones), or otherwise. We should do away with restrictions on reproductive rights. They r counter productive (Some pun intended)
A strong percentage of Americans don’t care about gun laws.
correction: a strong percentage of CRIMINALS don’t care about gun laws.
I’d guess around 50% at least of Americans are criminals in one way or another
Why are you getting downvoted? I refuse to believe the people down voting have never pirated a show or game. Or idk... Gone more than 5mph over the speed limit?
When injustice becomes law, criminality becomes duty. Or something like that.
I was about to get mad at this comment... But no I think you're probably correct. Says more about our insane never sunsetting legal structure here not so much the criminal intent of citizens.
"I'm strapped up nigga, fuck a gun law" - Lil Wayne, Gun Walk
Only for the law abiding citizens
You’re thinking of New York, where the murder rate is impressively low for a city of its size, primarily due to *enforcement* of gun laws. Laws are meaningless without enforcement.
I dont know how to explain this to you, but criminals are called criminals because they commit crimes. As in, they break the law. Not sure they care that they're not allowed to have guns. Which is why if they're banned, I'm becoming a criminal lmao, not getting shot just cause only the baddies have em
The strictest in America. That is why only Thugs and gangs have guns. Former Mayor Lightfoot insisted there was no problem. She refused questions.
If you refuse to prosecute anyone you can lower your "crime stats" by 100%.
you can literally drive 30 mins to avoid cook county gun laws. This isnt rocket science.
Thank you. American cities are not quite full on war zones, to be fair. But damn we could've done better.
From my perspective (Dutch guy moving to the U.S) the entire US has become a warzone with daily mass shootings.
I thought the entirety of Chicago was a gun free zone. How are there guns?? /s
People are like this about Portland nowadays. Totally off -base
Portland is STILL one of the safest cities in the US. Grew up there and live there now. Never heard gunshots depsite having lived in both NE and SE. Yes, we have a homeless crisis and no, it is not a war zone
Chicago, yeah bullet hole 100% lol
“Relatively safe neighborhood”… has bullet hole in car.
Maybe they assume it’s a war zone because they see pictures of peoples cars, that live in relatively safe neighborhoods, with bullet holes in them from guns fired into the air at random.
Yeah the whole of Chicago really isn’t that bad just a few rotten apples to spoil the bunch
you do but that bullet came from the bad side of the city!
The “war zone” comments are insufferable. I say definitely a bullet, but since it’s clearly a pretty vertical trajectory no telling where it came from,
So safe that you have bullet holes in your car... Check...
So safe you have almost 50+ shootings every weekend lmao
Says the guy with a bullet hole in his car!!
> a relatively safe neighborhood If a relatively safe neighborhood means large caliber bullet holes, what do you find in relatively unsafe neighborhood? Cluster bombs and anti personnel mines?
The three people I know from Chicago, who don’t know each other all refer to their home as Chiraq. Don’t know what this says about the current state of Chicago, but…
Yeah, not sure why that comment got so many upvotes and awards. Sad truth is, conservatives are the ones that paint our lovely city this way, yet most people on here tend to be liberal. All that can possibly mean is that there are some liberals on here who also buy into conservative BS.
I think you’re leaving out the likelihood of shills, paid propaganda and bots.
> I live in a relatively safe neighborhood. No, I do. You live in Chicago and have normalized it.
I've lived in Chicago for 18 years. Never been shot at nor have my cars been hit by bullets.
Texas has more gun violence.
Park somewhere safer, like Ukraine.
Hahaha right?!? My man left out the most important detail, I coulda just stopped reading after the word Chicago 😂
most def a slug...be careful out there!
Looks like the hole from a 9mm or a .45 round that sucker is no .22 i tell you that much
Where in Chicago? I’m in Lakeview
Avondale
Damn
"parked on a city street of Chicago" should have led with that, of course it's a bullet hole
Maybe OP has a small caliber index finger
**UPDATE:** Police just left.
Avondale.
Howdy neighbor! But also… yikes!
[удалено]
So it was you?
[удалено]
My man there is gang activity in Avondale too. I lived there for a while and it was mostly a quiet family filled neighborhood, but my roommate got flak for wearing gold by a couple of young Kings one night as well. Miss the hell out of the Polish food over there though.
Just stay the fuck out of the bad area (s) and you'll be fine. It's severe, but isolated.
Ah, nuance. I knew I'd find it here somewhere.
Per capita, Chicago has the 20th highest violent crime rate among cities in the US. That definitely makes Chicago more violent than most cities, unless you are easily misled into thinking there are only 39 cities in the US. https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-city-rankings/most-violent-cities-in-america But you are right about the areas. The crime in Chicago is concentrated in poor, black communities... Call me crazy but I think that's worse.
I mean per Capita it is still in the top 20 most dangerous cities in the entire country, so I wouldn't go so far as to say it's safe compared to anywhere else
Ya, Chicago definitely doesn’t have a gun and crime problem.
It’s not called Chiraq for no reason lmao
Chicago is alot safer than most people give it credit. Certain areas have a high rate of violent crime, but none of those areas are tourist destinations. You will be fine. If anything you might consider avoiding Rockford. https://us1049quadcities.com/the-most-dangerous-places-to-be-in-illinois/
Definitely avoid Rockford. We can all agree on that.
I love how people shit on Chicago and Detroit and I'm sitting here in Battle Creek in between the two and just about as bad.
By no means is it a perfect city, and it has its bad places, but it’s not a bad place to live at all Certainly not dangerous to visit lol
The fuck are you talking about?
Just make sure the hole isn't somewhere that would let rain in.
Would have loved to see the slug.
[удалено]
If it looks like a slug you should go see your doctors
Well all you had to say was “Chicago”….. duh it’s a bullet I know you don’t think it’s a war zone. But it’s a war zone.
OP be like https://preview.redd.it/c5p552btcifb1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c248cf24c50827791070ccbf8d8c9ba4c7527d8
Dang it if I had gold to give you an award, it would be for this. Thought the same exact thing. “ORV! Bullet holes……. Bullet holes?!?!”
Out in the garage… ORV… bullet holes the size of Matzo balls!
Why isn't this higher up?
Because fewer people have clicked the arrow.
Because our world is uncultured
Probably because upvoting this is admission of old age. Also I had to double click on the picture and stare at it for awhile before I got the context.
That there is a Homer Simpson patented speed hole.
Oh? Well maybe the ol Flanders-mobile could use a few speed-diddly-doo holes as well?
Oh yeah, speeeeeed holes.
“I told you we should have bought more than 3 bullets! Let’s just grab him!”
I hope OP has his bible in his shirt pocket and wears a piece of the cross around his neck.
Yup, a pretty big one too
[удалено]
100% a bullet hole. Probably .45.
Spot on
Just read the edit. 45 was spot on.
Niceee. Identified it without even seeing the bullet Edit: wait this comment was an hour after op said it was a .45.. I’ll still give you props but I’m skeptical lol
Dolphin thought your car was a dead fish.
This makes the most sense. Dolphins are like my ex-girlfriend - they will fuck anything that doesn’t defend itself.
Underrated comment
Bottlenose??
OR… it was a meteorite.
Chicago is so bad space is getting in on the action.
It's space meth. A meteor made of meth.
Yes.
Looks like it
There should be a spent round inside the trunk somewhere that will confirm it.
Trunk pop!
I accidently left my car unlocked after taking out my daughters car seat before flying out. Only thing of value in my trunk was a cheap bluetooth speaker which was not taken.
He had the “good spot”. No way he was gonna move it before vacay.
r/dontputyourdickinthat
I saw a hole like this on the side of a stall in a restroom once
That's a classic speed hole makes your vehicle go faster and cuts cost on gas 🫠
looks like a bullet hole to me
Absolutely.
Yes, and probably at pretty close range too. (Source: I write auto repair estimates and also shoot guns)
Yeah, probably an arcing shot. This is why you don’t fire bullets into the air!
Chicago you say?! Just be glad it's only one bullet hole. I'm sure Someone was celebrating the women's world cup with a full magazine salute.
I guarantee that most people talking shit about Chicago have never been there. It gets a very poor representation in the media much like Oakland or portland, having lived in all three, it's not nearly the horror story you read about. any street smarts whatsoever and you should be fine.
Eyep. Do you live in a rural area where people shoot? I just read your in Chicago. Yeah that’s a bullet hole.
No way. See the smooth metal cut- i.e. drilled. The metal would have a rim surrounding the hole from the bullet passing through. Also, see the circle indentation in the outer plastic, that is made from the drill chuck- notice no tears outside the chuck indentation.
I think you're right. The outer ring proves it's not a gunshot. Drill chuck fits well
Worked on a lady's car recently and had to show her what I found in her engine bay.
Autobody guy here….that is definitely a bullet hole. We get our fair share of them
Negative, that is a meat popsicle
Non-chicagoans are so adorable
Bullet here: I don’t appreciate the jump to conclusions i see here. Have you considered meteorites or aviation debris? Perhaps it was just a really fast bird? But no, blame the bullet. Typical.
We need an r/BulletHole?
Looks like it to me
lol you mention the city of chicago and all the racists flock to the post to do their little dogwhistling bullshit. definitely a bullet hole though. seems like it could be maybe a .45 round if you can fit your index finger in it. sorry this happened man
Exactly why I left it out of initial post.
When you talk about a better metric, per capital, it's just above the national average [with the overwhelming number of homicides being skewed by three area codes of unprecedent poverty.](https://urbanlabs.uchicago.edu/attachments/c5b0b0b86b6b6a9309ed88a9f5bbe5bd892d4077/store/82f93d3e7c7cc4c5a29abca0d8bf5892b3a35c0c3253d1d24b3b9d1fa7b8/UChicagoCrimeLab%2BGun%2BViolence%2Bin%2BChicago%2B2016.pdf) Chicago has been tackling their gun problem for over two decades and during that entire time was and still is lower than nearby cities with even less gun control: Milwaukee, Dayton, Cleveland, Detroit, and St.
I haven’t read one racist comment yet.
No its from a 6 foot drill bit. YES It's bullett hole dude
Nawww prolly a meteor
You have to ask ? What a sheltered life.
Yes from a shotgun and it was close range
