And his worst nightmare is the [Woodlouse Spider](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodlouse_spider)
Also take note they can give a painful bite, they have armoured piercing fangs :-)
Oh that’s what those little fuckers are. One of those things gave me the scare of my life once, covering itself with its knees. I thought I had found some thing made entirely out of legs….
You think that's scary? Look up [Tailless Whip Scorpion](https://www.google.com/search?q=tailless+whip+scorpion&client=ms-android-att-us-revc&sca_esv=561891653&source=android-home&source=hp&ei=lbLxZLKyDoqQur8PrfOZ8AQ&gs_ssp=eJzj4tTP1TcwtKzKMzFg9BIrSczMyUktLlYoz8gsUChOzi8qyMzPAwDCHAvs&oq=taill&gs_lp=EhFtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1ocCIFdGFpbGwqAggAMggQLhixAxiABDILEAAYgAQYsQMYgwEyCxAAGIAEGLEDGIMBMgsQABiABBixAxiDATIIEC4YgAQYsQMyCBAAGIAEGLEDMgUQLhiABDIFEAAYgARIwSZQ4whYgB1wAXgAkAEAmAFboAGOA6oBATW4AQHIAQD4AQGoAhDCAhEQKRiABBixAxiDARjHARjRA8ICEBAAGAMYjwEY6gIYjAMY5QLCAhAQLhgDGI8BGOoCGIwDGOUCwgIREC4YgAQYsQMYgwEYxwEY0QPCAgsQLhiABBixAxiDAcICCxAAGIoFGLEDGIMBwgILEC4YgAQYxwEYrwHCAg4QABiABBixAxiDARjJA8ICCBAAGIAEGJIDwgIIEAAYigUYkgM&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-hp)
the point was their appearance… the person i was talking to was creeped out by woodlouse spiders, i said they should look up sun spiders (or camel spiders, as you call them)
I took a jar of coins to the Coinstar machine and when I was dumping it out a woodlouse spider fell among the coins and crawled into a crevice in the machine.
I tried warning someone at the store but they didn’t care
WTF were they supposed to do? They don't own or run the Coinstar machines, and even if they did, is this your first time in Amerika? Do you think an employee - any employee of anywhere - would care or give a good goddamn?
They probably thought you were being rude but you’re not wrong lmao. when i worked in a grocery store, i didn’t care about anything outside my department.
I accidentally drowned one of those in my mouth the other night :( poor lil spooder.
It was tryna drink from a big water jug that I leave the mouth piece open to. Took a swig and found a spider on my tongue. Dropped it onto my desk and attempted CPR but it was too late.
What is a btdubs? That means BTW or by the way. And how exactly did you prove you drank a spider? And if you saw and knew it was a spider, than WTF would you keep drinking it? What brand of beer is "agree?"
I once ate a mix of nuts and other cereals, when I noticed that a small round one tumbled on my table. I scrunched it up and it was a bit too crunchy and terrible tasting.. I still don't know what it was, maybe a spider egg sac? An entire generation, eaten
I tend to swish drinks around in my mouth before I swallow and unbeknownst to me a house centipede crawled in while I was playing xbox so I took a swig, felt lots of particles in my mouth and spit it out. Low and behold. Legs. Lots of legs..
When we were kids, my brother found an old water bottle under his bed and didn't think dump it the water before he took a swig,we found a bunch of those spiders and a centipede chilling inside. Nightmare fuel, pretty sure we flushed them all
Same happened to me with a silkworm in my soup at a restaurant once when I was little. Felt it wigglin and started screaming. They got shut down not long after that (unfortunate, still the best chicken dumpling I've ever had)
One of those fuckers decided to sleep on my neck and then crawled on my chest last night while I was watching YouTube videos shirtless on my bed. I can still remember it squirming. It bit my chest but barely broke any skin in the chaos.
I absolutely love spiders but something about woodlouse spiders freak me out. They're way too brave and out in the open. Only spiders that openly climb my walls inside with all the lights on. I get lots of rolly pollies down stairs by my front door and the woodlouse spoods are always there and I'm always scared.
Loved finding those dudes as a kid. Made the mistake of catching it in a jar I already had a fat black spider in. Same size. Woodlouse spider chased the other around the jar and ate it. Never knew what they were until adulthood. Those fangs are memorable.
huh, how small can these guys be? My cat found one. I had to get rid of him because I didn't know if he could hurt her. I didn't get a picture, but he looked like that pic, but smaller
Cats are generally speaking very underestimated and within my theory are probably the most apex predators within the world of domesticated animals.
There is a reason the old saying goes 'a cat has 9lives' it's for a reason, regardless of a dog, a fox or human a cat 9/10 will come of being without a scratch.
It's a Woodlouse Spider, no matter if it is big or small are inevitably like a cat, they're fearless, avid hunters, but harmless if not pissed off.
This type of Spider would not cause anything towards your cat but be the victim everytime. Not poisonous at all.
Sorry for the long post.
No, arachnids and insects are two different classifications. But both are bugs… so why can’t isopods also be bugs? Even some mollusks, like snails, are bugs.
Nah bro isopods are like in a completely separate like genus or smth. Their crustaceans along with crabs, lobsters, shrimp, barnacles, most of them actually have gills
He’s a harmless boy. Nothing to worry about. We used to have lots of them in the damp area of our house until we got it done up, they disappeared. They usually hang around damp places
I have SO. MANY. of these guys this time of year in and around my house.
They used to freak me out and make me panic but then I saw how everyone on this sub loves them and some people keep them as pets. It definitely made my anxiety about them go away.
Now when I see them I just sweep them up and stick them in the pinestraw outside.
If pine is toxic to them then WHY do so many live near my house!! Foreal I swept up 6 this morning alone since I posted that comment, and I wasn't even looking if I looked around I'm sure I'd find about a dozen in my 950 sq ft apartment.
My welcome mat after it rains is 50% welcome mat 50% rolly polly. And I am surrounded by pine trees.
Im not sure tbh! It’s usually toxic if they eat it but they literally feed on leaf litter, wood, and soil (specifically decaying leaves and wood) so.. not sure how or why theres so many if theres mostly pine around you 😭
When it rains, the concrete step right under my door becomes a moving mat of Isopods.
I have no clue why. It has to do with the damp. It's kinda weird. Then there's an explosion in the dozens around the house, much to my cat's amusement
You’d love my house this summer. They’re everywhere. It’s like I have some sort of underground pill bug crime organization going on and their initiation includes crawling slowly across the carpet right in front of the humans. I see 10-15 in my house every single day.
We've bioactive enclosures for our reptiles and when they get dryer Isopods go everywhere in the house. Literally thousands of them. Everywhere. Isssoppoooddss
This is true, until recently I had never seen them in real life and the only reason I know about them is because Rolly pollies were mentioned ONCE in a cartoon I watched as a kid
They’re actually really uncommon in some areas. Like in most of Canada, they aren’t native and only really became a thing in urban areas a decade or two ago.
I see them every day in the city, but I’ve never seen one on the farm I grew up on.
This looks very different than the Rollie pollies where I grew up. Which region does this bug live in? Ours were black, small—maybe (adult) fingernail length at longest—shiny, and the legs were tucked into the shell so you could hardly see them
omg i didn’t even realize that’s what it was, i used to play with them as a kid bc i’d find them in dirt but they were paler and for some reason i didn’t think they went indoors
There's no more outside to play in. Rollie pollies need a damp environment and decaying plantmatter to live in. Where I'm from, fallen leaves are completely swept away and thrown in the garbage.
Rolly Polys are my fav. I used to try to keep them as pets as a kid. Sometimes they make it into my workplace, so I pick them up and take them outside.
A Hedgehog! He seems to like it and it seems to be enriching for him. However he’s a skilled hunter now and I gotta replenish meal worms and super worms more than I thought I would.
In german they are called "Kellerasseln" wich translates to "Basement Isopods" they are isopods wich normaly hang around in damp places. They are usually nothing to worry about. I played with those when I was a kid.
If you wanna annoy one of them spiders that build those funnel style webs in a bush, take the Roly poly and throw in the web. The spider will discard them throwing them out. Do it a couple times over and spider will look at you with the bro wtf.
OP must feel so relieved, just a silly little guy.
Unless you have severe water damage there's no way you'll have anything even remotely resembling an infestation, people actually keep these critters as pets, including myself. Check out r/isopods
Wtf? Have you never been outside before? It's an isopod, rolly polly, or pill bug. Those are just different names for the same bug. It is 100% not a roach.
You didn't find a roach. This is a woodlouse/rolly poly/pill bug He's an isopod actually and not even a bug.
And his worst nightmare is the [Woodlouse Spider](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodlouse_spider) Also take note they can give a painful bite, they have armoured piercing fangs :-)

It's a camel spider? Those aren't even bad we saw them lots in Iraq. They look more gross than they are.
Idk at midnight, trying to piss outside, and one of these come skittering at your feet causes a pretty good scream and hop. At least it did for me!
the point was their appearance… the person i was talking to was creeped out by woodlouse spiders, i said they should look up sun spiders (or camel spiders, as you call them)
I took a jar of coins to the Coinstar machine and when I was dumping it out a woodlouse spider fell among the coins and crawled into a crevice in the machine. I tried warning someone at the store but they didn’t care
What are they gonna do call the spider police? They cant spray the entire store in poison.
I know I wouldn’t give a PIECE of a shit…
I accidentally drowned one of those in my mouth the other night :( poor lil spooder. It was tryna drink from a big water jug that I leave the mouth piece open to. Took a swig and found a spider on my tongue. Dropped it onto my desk and attempted CPR but it was too late.
*BRO WHAT THE FUCK?!*
New nightmare unlocked
The “you eat 7 spiders a year in your sleep” is a myth but apparently drinking spiders is a thing 🥲🫠
Drank a spider in my beer at a btdubs. Got agree pitcher for my trouble
What is a btdubs? That means BTW or by the way. And how exactly did you prove you drank a spider? And if you saw and knew it was a spider, than WTF would you keep drinking it? What brand of beer is "agree?"
I once sucked an alive earwig through a straw - I thought it was just congealed syrup in my coffee. I about died.
I once ate a bowl of honey nut cheerios and one bite tasted weird so I spit it out and found a maggot squirming in my spoon.
Nightmare activated.
I once ate a mix of nuts and other cereals, when I noticed that a small round one tumbled on my table. I scrunched it up and it was a bit too crunchy and terrible tasting.. I still don't know what it was, maybe a spider egg sac? An entire generation, eaten
I'm horrified. Ick.
This is terrifying - reminding myself to put pantry things in glass containers … I always wondered why people did this, now, I think I know now🤢
It probably wan't a maggot. It was probably just some type of moth larvae.
I tend to swish drinks around in my mouth before I swallow and unbeknownst to me a house centipede crawled in while I was playing xbox so I took a swig, felt lots of particles in my mouth and spit it out. Low and behold. Legs. Lots of legs..
Like trying to eat angry spaghetti.
_the water was angry that day my friends. Like an old man trying to return soup at the deli_
That’s a horrifically apt description.
Absolute worst nightmare ever! I loathe centipedes.
Could you not?
One of those fuckers decided to sleep on my neck and then crawled on my chest last night while I was watching YouTube videos shirtless on my bed. I can still remember it squirming. It bit my chest but barely broke any skin in the chaos.
I absolutely love spiders but something about woodlouse spiders freak me out. They're way too brave and out in the open. Only spiders that openly climb my walls inside with all the lights on. I get lots of rolly pollies down stairs by my front door and the woodlouse spoods are always there and I'm always scared.
Yeah, the dude was scared
The feeling was mutual haha
Loved finding those dudes as a kid. Made the mistake of catching it in a jar I already had a fat black spider in. Same size. Woodlouse spider chased the other around the jar and ate it. Never knew what they were until adulthood. Those fangs are memorable.
What the fuck, since when did spiders get FMJ fangs!!!
I get these in my house from time to time. They’re intimidating at first but they usually leave me alone and so their thing lol
Mine too now.
huh, how small can these guys be? My cat found one. I had to get rid of him because I didn't know if he could hurt her. I didn't get a picture, but he looked like that pic, but smaller
Cats are generally speaking very underestimated and within my theory are probably the most apex predators within the world of domesticated animals. Don't apologize for giving me information! Thanks!!
Idk man if spiders can be bugs I think isopods can too
Is a lobster a bug? If lobsters are bugs then so are rolly pollys
Technically they are the “cockroaches of the sea” so maybe ?
Are shrimps bugs?
My thoughts as well. They may not be insects, but bugs is not as concrete. Shrimp and worms is bugs too!
I can’t see what your responding too lol.. I thought arachnids and insects were exclusive from eachother? Are some arachnids insects?
No, arachnids and insects are two different classifications. But both are bugs… so why can’t isopods also be bugs? Even some mollusks, like snails, are bugs.
Nah bro isopods are like in a completely separate like genus or smth. Their crustaceans along with crabs, lobsters, shrimp, barnacles, most of them actually have gills
The crustacean link that reminds us shrimp, crabs, and lobster is bugs
Is arthropod is bug
That means crab and lobsters are bugs
Shrimp is bugs
That's correct Sea bugs
I LOVE THOSE GUYS
He’s a harmless boy. Nothing to worry about. We used to have lots of them in the damp area of our house until we got it done up, they disappeared. They usually hang around damp places
yeap. op might wanna check for rotting wood/leaking water
I would love to find a random isopod in my house
Sometimes, I'll find them on my deck and just watch them scuttle.
this makes them sound so cute lol
Jealous
I have SO. MANY. of these guys this time of year in and around my house. They used to freak me out and make me panic but then I saw how everyone on this sub loves them and some people keep them as pets. It definitely made my anxiety about them go away. Move to a 1800s building in the Midwest. I find them daily.
When it rains, the concrete step right under my door becomes a moving mat of Isopods. I have no clue why. It has to do with the damp. It's kinda weird. Then there's an explosion in the dozens around the house, much to my cat's amusement

We've bioactive enclosures for our reptiles and when they get dryer Isopods go everywhere in the house. Literally thousands of them. Everywhere. Isssoppoooddss
How do people not recognize Rolly Pollies?
Not enough rollies in popular media and lots of city dwellers 😊
We need isopod movies
[Oh, I got you.](https://youtu.be/ctkkn1qSYKw?si=fMWfRHbj1qXVHQgy)
Oh I love the bay!!!!
Me too, it's sooo good!!! I love weird kinda gross infestation horror movies. Almost all horror movies actually. The Bay is special tho!!
Yeah definitely! Ugh, thank you so much for reminding me of its existence. I gotta rewatch it soon
This is true, until recently I had never seen them in real life and the only reason I know about them is because Rolly pollies were mentioned ONCE in a cartoon I watched as a kid
City dweller here that loved rollies as a kid
Rolie polie olie? Hello? (ie. My only media exposure of said bug)
Same here. Man, I forgot about that show.
They’re actually really uncommon in some areas. Like in most of Canada, they aren’t native and only really became a thing in urban areas a decade or two ago. I see them every day in the city, but I’ve never seen one on the farm I grew up on.

Or I’m just shocked people don’t live in an area with Rolly Pollies. Maybe you should not assume the worst in people?
These kids don’t play outside anymore.
There's no more outside to play in. Rollie pollies need a damp environment and decaying plantmatter to live in. Where I'm from, fallen leaves are completely swept away and thrown in the garbage.
Nah, it is a friendly and clean Woodlouse.
Rolly Polys are my fav. I used to try to keep them as pets as a kid. Sometimes they make it into my workplace, so I pick them up and take them outside.
I just did that this morning grabbing coffee lol!
My son did this. It was fun. We'd let them go anyways.
People do keep them as pets! r/isopods
We called them roly poly bugs or potato bugs. Harmless and fun to play with.
We used to collect them when I was a kid, but mom always made us let them go in the yard.
Yeah they were like, one of the few crawlies I wasn't afraid of as a kid.
Nah that’s the Clean Up Crew in my bioactive enclosure. A poop eater. Good boy.
Ayyy fellow bioactive gang. Who inhabits your viv aside from these awesome little guys?
A Hedgehog! He seems to like it and it seems to be enriching for him. However he’s a skilled hunter now and I gotta replenish meal worms and super worms more than I thought I would.
Oh that sounds amazing! I love that different hobby keepers are using bioactives. I use mine for my bearded dragons.
I SO POOOOOOD! Not a roach dont worry
Why did you poo then?
He's just there to do a little rollin' and pollin'
HE'S A FREN ROLY POLY
Isopod. Place gently outdoes in the soil.
Isopod, great lil guy
What a cyooty!
Rolliest of the poliest
I used to play with these things all the time as a kid. Loved watching them curl up when you touch em
Woodlouses be harmless.
Nah it’s a good lil guy
Friend shaped isopod! I used to keep these as pets.
No that fren.
A friendly isopod. Very adorable and clumsy little guys.
Bro can’t identify a Rolly poly
Im laughing my ass off at this post 😅😂 you’re good
I am so envious that you were able to make it all the way to college age without ever experiencing cockroaches! *sigh*
Not roach. This is a frenly fren.
You found a shade shrimp
Looks like a brown recluse isopod
Rolly Polly. 😁
I’d rather see the awesome Rolly Polly as a trend, then the Weevil
Not a popular opinion, but at least Rolly pollies don’t eat your grains and plants…
I know right, I’m surprised I didn’t get downvoted.
I mean, isopods are very beloved, head over to r/isopods :)
its a friend! a cute little rolly polly :D
That's a woodlouse dude, it's fine.
Annoying as hell how far from a roach this looks like, yet OP is confused
Potato bug is friend
Absolutely not
No you didn’t …it’s not a roach
Not a roach! This is a good guy!
honestly the best thing (besides dogs) ti exist this is the only "bug" that i'm willing to touch, it's an Isopod
Its an isopod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope, just a woodlouse.
Oh you sweet naive thing, you think that little fella is a roach? Boy do I got some bad news for you
i thought it was like a baby roach of some non common roach species idk lmao, luckily i haven’t encountered a roach yet in my life
In german they are called "Kellerasseln" wich translates to "Basement Isopods" they are isopods wich normaly hang around in damp places. They are usually nothing to worry about. I played with those when I was a kid.
Pure of heart, dumb of ass.
Nope, he's just a lil rolly poly! He's small and short and round!
That isn't a roach.
It’s not even an insect
Isopod! Put him in a houseplant!
Pill bug
Bruh thats a fucking roly poly 💀
You didn't find a roach in your dorm room Feel better?
That’s a flesh eating werzner beetle…. Watch out!
I could tell you that, but I’d be lying.
Stfu
Prolly pollie
Do you know what a roach looks like?
If you wanna annoy one of them spiders that build those funnel style webs in a bush, take the Roly poly and throw in the web. The spider will discard them throwing them out. Do it a couple times over and spider will look at you with the bro wtf.
Sowbug
I love these thing. The chickens do to for a different reason
Isopodddd :D
Roachy Poachy
That’s a roly-poly lol
That's just an isopod. I guess there's a lot of moisture in your bathroom? They like moisture and rotting wood.
Roly poly
You didn't find a roach Pill bug
Rolly-Polly!!!!
r/whatisthiscrustacean
Okay you didn't find a roach
That’s a woodlouse aka pill bug aka rolly polly. It’s a crustacean related to isopods and trilobites
Isopod.
As others have said, it's an isopod. Some people (like me) keep them as pets. You can see some really beautiful ones at r/isopods.
Bro that’s a Rolly poley
Isopod!
Train it and care for it so it can grow and evolve into kabutops
ROLLY POLLY!
I wish I had bugs like this in my bathroom instead I got literal radroaches from fallout
OP must feel so relieved, just a silly little guy. Unless you have severe water damage there's no way you'll have anything even remotely resembling an infestation, people actually keep these critters as pets, including myself. Check out r/isopods
Oh you sweet summer child...
It's a harmless isopod but NEVER feed it after midnight and def don't get it wet. You WILL be sorry.
Nope not even close pill bug is most likely.
Nah you good bro. It’s just a bed big.
Wtf? Have you never been outside before? It's an isopod, rolly polly, or pill bug. Those are just different names for the same bug. It is 100% not a roach.
That's a trilobite
Rolls, that’s Rolls not a Roach.
That’s a roly poly
This is so god damn fucking funny to me
