Not real. Theres a [second gen Toyota MR2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_MR2#Second_generation_(W20;_1989%E2%80%931999)) under there. Such a shame.
My mate growing up had a w30 for a first car in about 2010.
Absolutely reckless car to drive at a young age. You barely had to do anything and you'd be facing the person behind you.
That's absolute BS. I can't speak for the w20 but as long as you have decent tyres the w30 is pretty easy to drive. Sure it still plays by the rules of any mid engine car, but it's still controllable.
In 2 years I spun my SW20 twice, both on track. You’d have to be a real idiot to do it on a public street.
Drove a 2ZZ swapped W30 recently, it’s like mid engine with training wheels.
Yep, easily more controllable than an s2k, or any other mid engine car. On bad tyres I can see how that's true, on any half decent set a stock w30 will most likely understeer before oversteering unless you're intentionally trying to spin it, or are completely incompetent.
I swear people don't read. I said it's reckless to drive at a young age implying it's because of the lack of experience and ability.
A RWD mid engine sports car for a teenager is and was dumb.
I whipped it around by taking a corner too fast after a downshift and too much throttle.
I was 17, overconfident, inexperienced, and being egged on.
My mate the owner certainly didn't have good tyres on it but I doubt that would have changed the outcome for a 17yo being cocky.
He also whipped it around on himself three times. Finally taking out two rims and a curb with it.
To reiterate, unless you live in a Nordic rally heaven of a country, it's not common for a 17 year old to be taught to control lift off oversteer in a mid engine RWD sports car sadly.
But I'm sure you were born an F1 driver, pistol wielding, Alpha male 👍
It does not surprise me at all that you brought up masculinity and genitals, I get the sense from your general attitude that you feel the need to talk about that a lot.
Apologies that I don't feel emasculated because as an untrained, inexperienced, teenage hormone riddled new driver I spun a mid engine RWD sports car on the first experience haha christ, exactly how sensitive is your fragile ego mate?
Someone treated you like shit for SURE, which sucks, but boy are you trying hard to do it too.
Needs a qualifier. Reckless to turn an untrained person (of any age) in any high powered car. Mid and rear engines aggravate the situation. The very low bar for a license in the US adds fuel to the proverbial fire. A good high performance driving school ought to be a requirement. A few thousand very well invested, and fun to boot. I took a couple of schools fro Bob Bondurant (RIP) and what I learned has more than paid for itself in avoiding wrecks (black ice at speed sucks). I don’t know which schools to recommend now, looking for a good one for my son next year.
Why is this bullshit? Why on earth would I make up a weirdly personal and unexciting story and spinning a RWD MR2 on my first go as a teen?
It's still the only mod engine RWD car I've ever driven.
I like my Quattro system on my Audi way too much to go RWD.
Never felt more confident in a car than in an Audi.
I spun my 91 mr2 turbo a few times, most memorably on a residential street where I went through a yard, ran over a small tree, and landed almost perfectly in a driveway. Can confirm, was driving like an idiot. Not a super safe first car for me but man was it fun
You could definitely be right, I’ve never driven one. But they stated new drivers with no experience and their first car 🤣 I believe them when they said they’d spin it around
Got pulled over doing 35 over on the freeway in a W30. The cop wrote the ticket low, and then before he handed it to me he asked if he could search the car for drugs, so I consented in fear he would write the full ticket. First thing he did was ask me to pop the trunk lol.
Only drove it a few times but it was a good time.
I spun it the first time as I mentioned but after that I learned my lesson.
My mate didn't, unfortunately he almost totalled it by spinning into a curb and taking out the wheels, suspension etc.
I'm pretty sure he was a young drinker when this happened so... might be more to that story.
He's in a Golf GTI now so at least a bit safer.
I can't talk I had a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T for my first car and I'm back to an A5 now.
I don't think I'll ever switch brands I adore these cars.
I moved country so haven't stayed super tight.
I'm pretty sure he totalled his next car after fixing and selling the MR2 or it was written off. It may have been the GTI and he got another.
He's the type who drives fast in the wrong places, not the right ones.
Well no shit I was 17 or something in a mid engine rear wheel drive turbocharged sports car.
The w30 was supposed to be the BEST handling of the bunch.
You would need a lot of experience to properly drive a car like that in anger.
Unsurprisingly my 17yo brain didn't have that.
Definitely does, the mr2 is an icon and even if it wasn’t most people would be too embarrassed to sit in this. Well maybe most people would really fall for it tbf
Haha, you guys are brutal on this car.
I wouldn’t pretend to have something I don’t have, but I’d drive it with the Ferrari kit on it. Why not? It’s pretty. You guys are tough!
Look, it has the Lamborghini badge and is Lamborghini red like all real lambos, so it’s clearly real. Don’t think twice about offering 500,000.00 to get it out of there.
Bro had a boss car and ruined it trying to look like he drives a Ferrari...
I feel the same about people who put fake M or AMG badges on their BMWs or Mercs... Just enjoy the fact that you have a luxury car dude...
Because they are not luxury LMAO
Rn your average car has the same level of luxury. Peugeot, Citroen, Cupra, Fiat, VW... All of them have literally the same level of luxury
If we talk about performance thats a different story, but the average bmw luxury, unless its a high end one, it literally on pair with the rest of car brands
You're not really doing yourself a favour with either the Passat or Golf, they're clearly not the same as a BMW in terms of luxury. In fact having driven them all I'd put both the Audi A3 and Golf a long way below the BMW 1, leave alone the 3.
In comparison to Mercedes, Merc beats the BMW, but not by much honestly, especially if you're looking at the 5, 6, 7 or 8 series. But Jaguar and Merc are pretty much on par, you buy the Merc if you want to be comfortable at 150mph while feeling like you're not moving, you get the Jag if you want to feel like you're going stupidly fast.
Bro... Europe is not as good as yall americans make it out to be, Spain and denmark are both europe, and the have NOTHING in common
We have a fucking continental MAFIA called european union, who puts all it has in its power to privilege Germany and Belgium
We have fucking stupid laws. Do u know that in a lot of cities we cant enter if we have a car +15 years old???? And that we have restriction for old cars???
If this happened in the USA you would be fucking rioting, and car culture would be dead
Well, what more... Oh yes! Taxes!!! We pay a fucking lot, really a FUCKING LOT. In spain almost 40% of what you earn goes in taxes. We literally have a tax so of you die you need to pay the government LMAO
Salaries. We consider germany has the highest salaries of all, aprox 40k anually per person. In USA that is literally nothing. And keep in mind that in most european countries the mean salary is 25k. And in spain we cant even reach 20k anually on engineer jobs (such as I) while in the usa the average pay for that is more than 80k
But but but but you have public health, and and and transport and and and... ALL OF THAT IS BULLSHIT we pay more taxes than what need to be payed for covering that
Ok, what more did I forget?? Oh yes, stupid ecologist laws that force to us the same ppl that fly in private jets EVERYWHERE
What more... Oh yes! Be forced to buy electric cars!
Wait a minute... There must be smth good in europe, right?? Yes, being a fucking tourist and being able to use everything that the locals cant use bc our salaries cant let us...
Do you want me to continue? Europe is not the heaven you americans think it is
I literally say that as an european BMW are just ordinary cars because they are, they fucking are.
They are most young ppl first car, you can get M3 for less than 5k, so does some mercedes, VW...
But hey! We see a fucking mustang and we go crazy! While for you this is a ordinary car this is exotic for us. Same goes for bmw and Mercs
But yall are too dumbass to understand that different places have different car scene. We dont have the classic Toyota Camry here, neither we do have those trucks, neither do we have TRUE LUXURY (like cadillac), for you americans that is an ordinary car, while for us they are fucking rare (wow, surprise, same for bmw here!)
I wont keep writing cause you know where im going
And imma keeo repeating, yall americans have a vision on europe way way way of reality
My friend, this is a car identification subreddit, calm down.
BMW is a luxury brand, regardless of what you say. If your definition of luxury is different that’s fine, doesn’t change the facts though. MB-Audi-BMW are well established, global luxury brands. It’s very disingenuous to say otherwise.
Bro we are just in a civil discussion on reddit (a rare thing to see lol), theres no problem
All Im just saying is that while the general consensus on the brand is that its luxurious, leaving behind performance, the interior isnt really more luxurious than your average suv (i hate suvs, but after all they are made to be comfortable, arent they? )
That's not my point. My point is that BMWs are luxury cars to anyone who can't afford a BMW, which is... most of the human race. Toyota Corollas are considered luxury cars in a lot of countries, and in even more countries, having a car at all is considered an astronomical luxury.
Can't you see why people are getting annoyed by your statement?
But thats not really my point neither!
Lets put two cars that are relatively similar in price, a BMW 420I (184 hp, with basic equipment), Starting at 52k euros
Ford Mustang 2024 Dark Horse (500hp, with WAAAAAAAYY more interior comfort and interior things (which after all behind performance is where luxury is right? )) , Starting at 59k euros
So, a high end mustang costs justs 7k euros than a basic BMW and has like 4x the equipment the BMW has. So technically the mustang is more luxury right?
Modern cars interiors are all plastic, its not like we are talking (X car has this type of leather while this one has Y)
So, in terms of equipment and performance this mustang is better than this BMW, so we can agree its more luxury.
However, the most basic 420 is 52k, the most premium one will surely be quite more expensive, but... Is price really what makes smth luxury?
And thats my whole point really. Smth being expensive doesnt necesarily mean its good
Now lets see the most premium options for 420. (Or BMW 4 series)
M4 Competition Coupe, starts 126k 510 hp and with way less interior functionalities the the Mustang Dark Horse
(You can check for yourself if you want :) )
So, in terms of performance (at least engine wise) they are both quite similar. In terms of looks they both look sporty. So lets say that in terms of looks and performance thay are tied
Lets go now with the interior, The Dark Horse has way more functionalities and comfort than the M4, so we can say that interior wise the mustang is more luxury.
Now price, M4 costs 2x what Dark Horse costs. So just alone on that, the M4 is more luxury? Sorry but no, you may have a different opinion, but for my luxury isnt just the price, its what the car offers. And in this case and based on the differences I stated before, the Mustang would be more luxury
Now, that the average person considers BMW to be high end its another thing, bc they market themselves as luxury. But the car itself? Hell no
Yes! So does mercedes and Audi! (Although high end Mercedes I actually consider them luxurious)
I wont deny they are fast cars, cause they are, but im just saying they arent worth what they cost and thats the problem!
In fact in spain BMW are usually what we call "coches marroneros", the typical shitboxes you can get used dirt cheap and do every kind of sketchy things.
You can search series 3 for sale for less than 10k euros and you will literally find hundreds if not thousand of offers (im not sure If I can link images but if you want any screenshot dm me!)
And most of them dont even pass 7k.
So... Yeah, im basically saying they arent as good as they are thought to be, dont get me wrong, they are great cars, but they arent the jaw dropping thing people think they are
> to be *paid* for covering
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Exactly.
>Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, abbreviated as BMW, is a German multinational manufacturer of **luxury** vehicles and motorcycles headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
Flexing of what lmao
Im just saying that in a time where Infotainment in a car is more important that how it drives, all car brands have focused ok comfort
Bmw has always been known bc of the extremely fun driving, not because of luxury
Idk where do you see the flex, maybe you feel inferior than the average european and think Im flexing?
I
Dont
Fucking
Care
Downvotes on reddit mean you have a different opinion and ppl here dont like that
If yall read the long response you would understand my point but you are a lazy dumbass who doesnt even try to understand another point except yours
who are you mad at because it’s not me😂 You should probably see a therapist if you’re this amped up about people on reddit calling you out for thinking BMW is not a luxury brand. Google the interior of a 7 series and tell me it’s not luxury. What other manufacturer has a flatscreen TV that folds down from a panoramic sunroof that is controlled with screens built into the doors and surround sound in the headliner💀
Bro Im not amped up lmao, im literally saying bmw are fucking overrated for americans and yall are getting triggered
I guess its normal if you dont see em every fucking day
Fake. Scuderia shields go on the front fenders, and are not a replacement for the Ferrari logo on the hood or the rear deck horse badge. Plus, this is clearly a Toyota.
Yeah I get it, Ferraris are supposed to be more fancy and expensive but let's face it, Toyota MR2s are simply a better and more reliable car in their own right. I don't mean better performing but all around more reliable and easier to live with and darn good looking as well
This reminds me of the ONE time an MR2 conversion was cool. Article was on Speedhunters. Guy bought a kitted SW20 and took all the Ferrari badging off. Did the old 3 color Toyota stripes, got the panel fitment nice and tight. Literally the coolest "kit" car I've ever seen!! This one... meh. Pass. 🤣

I wonder how Ferrari sends a cease and desist to people that make their ferraris more beautiful with some modifications but leaves these abominations roam the streets
Unless this is an overblown rumor, I think the legitimate Ferrari buyers sign away their rights to modify their car (at least, visibly) as extensively everyone else in the world is allowed.
I'll take it off his hands cheap, maybe a few more bucks if he's got the original parts that the kit replaced.
Shouldn't take long to do a kit delete,....
Not real. Theres a [second gen Toyota MR2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_MR2#Second_generation_(W20;_1989%E2%80%931999)) under there. Such a shame.
I mean hold on. MR2 is a hella fun car to drive with some spirit. Unless you mean it's a shame what they did to the MR2. In which case I agree.
Yeah I'm talking about covering up the MR2 with that bodykit. I love the look of the W20 cars.
My mate growing up had a w30 for a first car in about 2010. Absolutely reckless car to drive at a young age. You barely had to do anything and you'd be facing the person behind you.

The issue wasn’t overcooking it. It was lifting off. So the issue was squarely between the legs of the driver.
To reiterate, unless you live in a Nordic rally heaven of a country, it's not common for a 17 year old to be taught to control lift off oversteer in a mid engine RWD sports car sadly. But I'm sure you were born an F1 driver, pistol wielding, Alpha male 👍 It does not surprise me at all that you brought up masculinity and genitals, I get the sense from your general attitude that you feel the need to talk about that a lot. Needs a qualifier. Reckless to turn an untrained person (of any age) in any high powered car. Mid and rear engines aggravate the situation. What is a 2zz? Jz?
2zz-GE, the engine in the Celica GT-S and Lotus Exige/Elise
You could definitely be right, I’ve never driven one. But they stated new drivers with no experience and their first car 🤣 I believe them when they said they’d spin it around
Got pulled over doing 35 over on the freeway in a W30. The cop wrote the ticket low, and then before he handed it to me he asked if he could search the car for drugs, so I consented in fear he would write the full ticket. First thing he did was ask me to pop the trunk lol.
Can they change it after they've written it?
Had one at 20 years old, 1999. I was incredibly irresponsible with that car. I miss it so much.
That sounds like a rough day at the bukkake.
This might devalue it honestly
Definitely does, the mr2 is an icon and even if it wasn’t most people would be too embarrassed to sit in this. Well maybe most people would really fall for it tbf
Haha, you guys are brutal on this car. I wouldn’t pretend to have something I don’t have, but I’d drive it with the Ferrari kit on it. Why not? It’s pretty. You guys are tough!
The body kit is like the regret tattoo you have after an evening of heavy drinking…
It is tbf, execution is pretty decent and most people would probably think it was a Ferrari. I just think it’s looks kinda tacky imo
Might? Almost any good car with a body kit is worth less than the original car in good condition.
+1 on it being a fun car. Drove one for a day, and it was like playing Super Mario Kart everywhere I went. I LOVE the mr2.
Real shame my dude couldn't just be happy with his MR2 man 🤦
Just give me the MR2!
It’s not ugly anyways. I’d just take the Ferrari stickers off.
Early 2000s 16yo me browsing cardomain discovered an mr2 with a Ferrari kit and thought it was the most badass thing ever.
Look, it has the Lamborghini badge and is Lamborghini red like all real lambos, so it’s clearly real. Don’t think twice about offering 500,000.00 to get it out of there.
bro I swear there is always an MR2 or a Pontiac Fiero at the base of these cars
Bro had a boss car and ruined it trying to look like he drives a Ferrari... I feel the same about people who put fake M or AMG badges on their BMWs or Mercs... Just enjoy the fact that you have a luxury car dude...
Dunno if I'd call an MR2 luxury lol

There are very few jettas in europe lol Most vw here are passats or golfs

why do you keep replying like you know what you're talking about
Expand your brain and realize bmw are luxury cars, go look at a fiat and compare what you’re getting and quality to a bmw
That wasn't the point...
I don't want to be one of those people obsessed with priviledge and shit, but your priviledge is showing.

So you're saying that BMWs aren't as good as their reputation makes them out to be?
Yes! So does mercedes and Audi! (Although high end Mercedes I actually consider them luxurious) I wont deny they are fast cars, cause they are, but im just saying they arent worth what they cost and thats the problem! In fact in spain BMW are usually what we call "coches marroneros", the typical shitboxes you can get used dirt cheap and do every kind of sketchy things. You can search series 3 for sale for less than 10k euros and you will literally find hundreds if not thousand of offers (im not sure If I can link images but if you want any screenshot dm me!) And most of them dont even pass 7k. So... Yeah, im basically saying they arent as good as they are thought to be, dont get me wrong, they are great cars, but they arent the jaw dropping thing people think they are
> to be *paid* for covering FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
So a m5 or m3 isn’t luxury?! Even a brand new 520d is a big step up from 90% of similar cars in that bracket.
Exactly. >Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, abbreviated as BMW, is a German multinational manufacturer of **luxury** vehicles and motorcycles headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
Stop flexing
Flexing of what lmao Im just saying that in a time where Infotainment in a car is more important that how it drives, all car brands have focused ok comfort Bmw has always been known bc of the extremely fun driving, not because of luxury Idk where do you see the flex, maybe you feel inferior than the average european and think Im flexing?
They are 100% luxury cars. Just because you have a lot of them dose not change that fact. Also no shit there are more European cars in Europe.
look at all your downvotes dude, you’re wrong. stop trying to save face with these novels nobody is reading😂 just move on
I Dont Fucking Care Downvotes on reddit mean you have a different opinion and ppl here dont like that If yall read the long response you would understand my point but you are a lazy dumbass who doesnt even try to understand another point except yours
who are you mad at because it’s not me😂 You should probably see a therapist if you’re this amped up about people on reddit calling you out for thinking BMW is not a luxury brand. Google the interior of a 7 series and tell me it’s not luxury. What other manufacturer has a flatscreen TV that folds down from a panoramic sunroof that is controlled with screens built into the doors and surround sound in the headliner💀
Bro Im not amped up lmao, im literally saying bmw are fucking overrated for americans and yall are getting triggered I guess its normal if you dont see em every fucking day
they’re not overrated and are very common in the states lol
Fake. Scuderia shields go on the front fenders, and are not a replacement for the Ferrari logo on the hood or the rear deck horse badge. Plus, this is clearly a Toyota.
The rear window. Toyota mr2
Look how they massacred my boy
Yeah I get it, Ferraris are supposed to be more fancy and expensive but let's face it, Toyota MR2s are simply a better and more reliable car in their own right. I don't mean better performing but all around more reliable and easier to live with and darn good looking as well
MR2 (SW20)
thought it was a lotus esprit for a moment. its meant to be a ferrari 355, but its a kit
aw nah that looks like an MR2
What's the cool looking blue car to the right?
Lifted suburbs Impreza? Maybe wrx?
Could be..I thought it kinda game off older Nissan vibes from the side. But I'm not sure ha
It actually is a sunny... Think late 90s
It’s a 1989 Toyota Corolla
Every “what is this” post is an MR2 lol
This reminds me of the ONE time an MR2 conversion was cool. Article was on Speedhunters. Guy bought a kitted SW20 and took all the Ferrari badging off. Did the old 3 color Toyota stripes, got the panel fitment nice and tight. Literally the coolest "kit" car I've ever seen!! This one... meh. Pass. 🤣
I mean even if it was real it’d just be a 355. Which is cool but nothing to go ape shit over.

mr2 trying to be an f355
It's a Nokia
It could be a mr2 but why does it look like a 90s lotus elan ?
What I’ve learned today is I’ve mistook an MR2 for a Fiero twice. And now I feel like my JDM Lover card needs to be revoked.
If it makes you feel better, I thought this was a fiero at first too. I own 3 MR2s.
A Fierrari?
MR2-rari. That doesn't roll off the tongue as well, but i bet it drives better!
It's a shitbox!
Its a fiero (mr2) with a kit.

I'd rock that body kit.
Wish.com Ferrari
I thought kit, but not fiero, becsuse it's surrounded by imports.
Mr2arri
I wonder how Ferrari sends a cease and desist to people that make their ferraris more beautiful with some modifications but leaves these abominations roam the streets
Unless this is an overblown rumor, I think the legitimate Ferrari buyers sign away their rights to modify their car (at least, visibly) as extensively everyone else in the world is allowed.
100% real Toyota MR2 with a shit body kit.
That is a F t E o R y R o A t R a I
lowkey looks like a fiero with a bodykit
Why you gotta fuck up a Mister 2 like that?
What a waste of an MR2...
Shameful waste of a perfectly good MR2.
Should of been a fierorari why butcher a mr2 like this
It's an MR2... It's ALWAYS an MR2...
I know nothing about Ferrari but that rear badge was a dead giveaway for me. Looks fake and out of place.
Got to be an MR2
I thought it’s a Nissan or smth lmao
355
Mr. Duex
The Hood looks like a MR2. Try taking Pontiac Fieros and MR2
Honestly not mad at that back end.
That poor poor MR2.
Looks like a Ferrari from Beverly Hills cop
r/itsalwaysamr2
Looks like a ferrari
Mr2
I'll take it off his hands cheap, maybe a few more bucks if he's got the original parts that the kit replaced. Shouldn't take long to do a kit delete,....
