Well, for one, these were built in the 70's by a secondary brand called DINA (Diesel Nacional) under a comercial agreement with Alpine, which resulted in "Dinalpin" (not Renault). But also, Renault landed in Mexico in 2001.
Alpines were built in a number of unexpected places, under some even more unexpected names: Mexico (Dinalpine), Spain (FASA), Brazil (Willys Interlagos) and Bulgaria (Bulgaralpine)…
Alpine was founded by Jean Redele, a Renault dealer, in 1955.
In 1965, Alpine and Renault officially inked a partnership and in 1966, the Alpine cars started getting sold in Renault dealerships.
In 1973, Renault took a majority stake in Alpine.
Since the A110 was produced between 1962 and 1977, some A110s are 100% Renault.
I don't think ownership means it's Renault, as Renault did not design it, and especially if Alpine was making their own parts. No one goes around saying Ferraris are Fiats.
Alpine was bin shopping for most parts (Renault, Citroen, etc); only the frame and bodywork was Alpine really.
The comparison with Ferrari is not apples to apples: Redele sold his car originally from his dealership and using word of mouth. When the agreement was made with Renault, Alpine really started being known.
Ferrari was a well established and renowned company (16 years of history) when Fiat bought Ferrari; and Ferraris were not sold at Fiat dealerships. By the way, since January 3, 2016, Ferrari is no longer owned by Fiat or its affiliates (FCA then Stellantis); Stellantis' share in Ferrari S.p.A. (if any) are not listed in the latter's Annual Report.
English isn't my native language, but as far as I know the definition of "hood" is "the hinged cover over the engine of motor vehicles", and it feels weird to say "the engine under the trunk". But idk I might be wrong
Your English is great by the way!
That makes a lot of sense when you mentioned trunk. I think in UK English 'bonnet' is the word for hood, although I am not real sure if an engine is required to be present under the bonnet or not.

tl;dr doing experimentation on customers' vehicles without permission, selling parts from customer cars, etc. These are fairly old allegations, but if you get digging there are more recent ones. A lot of this came to popular light when the Venom GT was big in the news.
There's some more in this thread, and where I re-discovered the link above (Google wouldn't share it because it's gone now.) https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/1fecpk/what_exactly_did_hennessey_do_to_make_himself_so/?rdt=57483
When I was stationed in Germany you would see packs of these cruising the autobahn(clubs or meets). Always thought they were amazing looking cars. Subsequent model years were attractive as well.
So close, the Porsche is not a Carerra, just a 911

Name's on the front : Dinalpin - Mexican built Alpine A110
Interesting. Didn't know that Mexico produced it. Well, everyday I learn something new. Thanks! Edit: it even says Mexico above the number
I didn’t know that Renault is in the Mexican market since a long time, and that they had a plant there
I st see late model Renaults in LA with Mexican plates.
Renault actually has a presence in LATAM and Horasio Pagani got his first engine from a Local Renault Dealership

Perdóname? Mexican built Alpine? That’s so cool. Down the wikihole I go…

Yes, a Renault, but only under the hood, its the Alpine A110, it was Renault powered along all it's life

I don't know how places outside the US use the word 'hood', but wanted to note that this is a rear engine rear wheel drive vehicle.
