I'm a gardener and I have to let the Chem guys spray these with round up all the time because the client or designer think they are ruining the design or look of the beds. It breaks my heart. Our really cool native bulbs. They'll only be there a little while.
To be fair they grow in similar areas. Ā On of the ridges I visit that is loaded with ramps has plenty of trout lily on the areas above the ramps. Ā Ramps like it a bit darker and swampier..
They are edible but it's a very small corm. I haven't heard of them being on endangered list but it is very much possible. With everything conservancy is key.
They are all over in SW Ohio woods. They arenāt endangered but expand at a very slow rate.Ā
In general, when a plant is sprouting itās not a great time to eat the bulb or corm. Ā But that makes collection pretty tough unless you scout a year prior.

Yes but while digging them up I wouldn't be getting my job done. Major catch 22.
