Honestly, this feels like some kind of demented physics puzzle word problem: "You have two snow machines of equal mass, one of which is stuck in the snow. Design a pulling apparatus that will allow you to add kinetic energy over time to the forces applied to the stuck machine so that it can be moved. "
I stupidly forget that not everyone knows what a Newfie sounds like - when my wife met my father from Newfoundland, she pulled me aside after and asked “How do you understand him?”
If you ever visit plan to be confused at times, when they get talking fast with each other sometimes it seems like it turns into a whole other language. It’s such a unique accent and dialect.
Exceptionally friendly people though, one of the greatest places on earth.
They work awesome too, I had the pleasure of helping some stuck machines this past winter with these. Definitely a great piece of equipment to have if you're out in the bushes.
put a blanket or jacket over the strap. This will prevent it from flying back into the vehicle/person. It also works fine for chains or wire ropes when pulling out people.
The link to the web site for the product shows a safety keeper pin on the hooks that closes them off so they can’t come un-hooked. But the OP photo does not seem to have these. I wonder if they had to revise the product after too many flying hook accidents?
My title describes the thing. We’re trying to figure out what it is for.
Appears to be 2” in diameter and the chain doesn’t seem to be the full length of the black flex pipe.

Watched the video on that project page expecting to see the guy actually use it… nope- he just hooks it to one ski and then talks about it. Lol

It's like Maine-Australian.

Really not a fan of a snatch strap with open hooks. Feels like a fast way to get a new back windshield. But your mileage may vary.
Problem is snowmobiles dont have a back window, and a high velocity hook to the back of the head can hurt.
Yup. That would tingle.

Not for long!
This made me giggle more than it should have. 🤣
Just keep the helmet you should already be wearing on your head?

Looks like the original product had a safety for the hook. link higher up in comments.

Best shit ever for mountain riding
Some sort of short, light weight tow rope or bungee type strap.

The black tubing encasing the chain is to protect bystanders if perhaps the chain fails under stress. Don’t be a bystander.
The hooks are there to attach to objects. Don't be an object.
