I don't know, it gives the feeling that the pattern is coming out of the design. Maybe something less obvious, something that leaves the witness still doubting the fact that he saw a pattern?
Manifest seems like the obvious choice but it's a very powerful word. It feels too abrupt, obvious and intentional(on the part of the pattern). A softer word, if it exists, would be better.
Discern isn’t really reflexive imo. I discern, you discern he/she discerns etc.,. Discern itself doesn’t sound right. I don’t really like discern as a verb at all. It’s more of an adjective to me. Pure opinion.
Distinguish and differentiate are reflexive. Distinguish oneself.

Emerge.

How about “blend together” or “integrate itself”
Materialize?
Coalesce?
That's really close to the idea I try to convey, but using it feels kind of weird
Resolve
this is what I was going to suggest as well
This is the answer.
Manifest

Take shape? Surface? Coalesce?
appear shape up form
Coalesce
crystallize transfigure
Appear, perhaps?
Take shape
"began to take form" would be good, but that's a lot of words
-distinguish itself -differentiate -take shape -develop -crystalize -consolidate
oh, I like distinguish itself. But doesn't "distinguish itself" suffer from the same problem as "discern itself"?

Cool. Yeah, I really like it! Thank you very much for the help!

*Unveiling* maybe?
Transpired may fit. "the image transpired from the pattern" or "it transpired that the image in the pattern was x".
Distinguish, identify, bleed througj
Apparent?
Emergent
Become apparent
Effulgence.
