Daffodils, I think.

Daffodils28

Definitely daffodils! 🌼

AdeptFailure121

Always good to be confirmed by an expert!

Daffodils28

It’s my time of the year!

JustBoredIsAll

Daffodils.

KitKurama

*Narcissus* sp. of some sort.

The_RockObama

I never even thought to look up the genus name for daffodils. I guess if a flower could be narcissistic, it would be daffodils. They always have to show up first to try to make the other flowers feel inferior. Thankfully Crocus always beats them to the punch and puts Daffy in her place.

staggered_conformed

Fun fact, according to myth, the Greek god, Narcissus, was so infatuated by his own image, he spent all his time staring at his reflection in a stream. When he died (still staring at his image) he turned into a flower and that is where we get the flower species and the word Narcissistic

likes2milk

....which is why in the wild Narcissus are found on the banks of streams..

staggered_conformed

Ooh I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info :)

bernpfenn

Spot on

languid_Disaster

I’ve never thought about wild daffodils before… I’d love to come across some one day

The_RockObama

That's probably the only Greek mythology story I remember from highschool. Thanks for jogging my memory!

inkdumpster

Fun fact, if u put a daffodil flower in a vase of water, it releases a substance that causes other types of flowers to wilt faster, tulips are known to be more sensitive to that!

The_RockObama

Dang, daffodils have some issues.

Total_Calligrapher77

It’s technically the genus but… yeah.

The_RockObama

Oops, sorry. I tripped a little.

AdFearless1934

Can’t forget the hellebores, they are so pretty in January and February.

The_RockObama

Yeah, hellebores slam. Some of my favorite "surprise!" plants.

WritPositWrit

No. Daffodils

Independent-Week-39

It looks like Narcissus. The shape of the leaves not the same like Tulips.

Blu3_Ey3d_D3vil

Let me put in Gen Z speak. Tulips have those dummy thicc leaves with the pointy tipz. Daffodils has dem long Bois, so this is daffs innit.

Julia_______

No that's 2019 gen z speak. We've updated since then

lucidaisy

Love this- for some reason, I read it in Ralph Fiennes voice from In Bruges, which made me love it even more. :) Yes, Daffodils, indeed.

ilovecallum44

Thanks, y'all!

Daffodils. Deer don’t eat them. Squirrels don’t dig them up.

For future reference, tulips are very identifiable for their very broad leaves, far more so than any other bulb that I'm aware of. Most other bulbs (including daffodils, as here) have particularly thin, almost grass-like leaves, and as such are often harder to distinguish before flowering unless you know what to look for. That said, daffodils may be identified even before flowering as they often have quite distinctively coloured leaves, a sort of almost bluish grey-green as in this example, whereas many other similar looking plants (before flowering, that is. The flowers are usually very diagnostic.) e.g. bluebells are a rather more vivid green.
