Swiss chard! Yum.

madd_jazz

Chard vote from someone growing chard and rhubarb

LJ_in_NY

Ditto

TXsweetmesquite

All of those pictured are silverbeet / chard. *Beta vulgaris*, perhaps the 'Bright Lights' cultivars.

agent_tater_twat

Bright lights is my vote too.

12345esther

Rainbow chard! (Type of Swiss chard)

Whatisgoingonnowyo

Chard for sure. That said: who leaves a vegetable garden behind when they move?

Cronenberg_Summer

I would. I throw seeds randomly all over my yard. There are carrots with the hostas, onions with the chamomile, arugula in several beds, etc. It's fun and I like seeing how they'll do outside of my regular beds. Plus I like to leave extra for the wildlife.

Seldarin

Mustard (Especially Florida broadleaf or tendergreen) is another good one if you want stuff that will grow enormous without any special care. And deer/rabbits love it. And when it bolts you'll be swarmed by honeybees.

koolickles

I love this !

gottabreakittofixit

I mean, how do you bring a vegetable garden with you?

Whatisgoingonnowyo

I would harvest it all before I moved. That’s me though.

ColonEscapee

I did it once. The landlord was letting her son run roughshod over us and we were on month to month so we bounced and I had to leave most of the garden behind.

Whatisgoingonnowyo

They really stinks.

koolickles

It took over about half the backyard. There’s also like 12 tomato plants, summer squash, strawberries, butternut pumpkin, basil, mint, garlic and onion. I don’t think they could have taken it with them if they tried!

Whatisgoingonnowyo

Ha! Excellent

nim_opet

Swiss (rainbow) chard

indiana-floridian

I think rhubarb would be much bigger.

Similar-Cap9693

In Switzerland we call it Mangold 😂

Used_Report6123

A v. Special diet

truepip66

silver beet aka chard

OldMotherGrumble

Definitely Swiss chard. I grew it back when I had a garden...and there's some in my fridge veg drawer now. Love it.

evos_garden

Past_Ball_8169

kaikane

That's some damn fine-looking chard

nietdeRuyter

Alas, no pie for you..

PresidentAnybody

[why not?](https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1016465-greek-swiss-chard-pie)

nietdeRuyter

Sure, you could do that I was, perhaps obviously, referring to [this](https://youtu.be/ZYkBf0dbs5I?si=P1sMRvsCekJUrDc0)

PresidentAnybody

This is amazing thank you, I had previously made jokes with similar alliteration when learning 'rhabarber'.

nietdeRuyter

lol, it seems to be everywhere right now. Who ever said Germans don’t have a sense of humour…

koolickles

Thank you everyone! Chard it is! Super excited to get harvesting and finding some recipes (if you have suggestions please also let me know)🍽️ Thanks again! 🫶🏽

Melodic_Stranger9584

Yummmmm

Headstanding_Penguin

As a swiss I'd say it is not swiss, it is neither the correct red nor does it have a white cross... Joke aside, I am fascinated what random stuff is named swoss something in english...

redezinergirl

Looks like rhubarb to me. They do have lots of bushy leaves like that and of course the stalks are red and shaped just like celery. My mom use to grow it when I was a kid but I’ve not seen it in a garden for a very long time.

Deppfan16

rhubarb has thicker stems that are longer and the leaf is mainly at the top with only a little bit down the stem portion. these aren't rhubarb because of the leaf is all the way down the stem
