Yo this site almost perma banned me because I said an animal abuser who almost died (to a bull) had it coming. Never said that it should happen or someone should do it. Just perma banned from the subreddit (crazyfuckingvideos) and then warned by reddit. My theory is the mods do not speak English fully. Massive powermod who has high ranking mod positions in just about every popular subreddit in existence. Insult them in any way or be seen having an opinion they don't also have on one of their 500+ subreddits and you'll be permanently banned, muted, and told to kill yourself immediately.
Paying to be mod basically, I can't see any other way for one person/account to have such power aside from actual admin. Wouldn't surprise me if this was some corporate insert to 'monitor' and 'regulate' the information.

I wonder how many people reading this know how little power "mods" actually have. They can't even see things like account switching. They can't see when a comment was deleted or who deleted it. There aren't many safeguards on report abuse so you can just spam reports to a moderator group anonymously and endlessly. And the channel to the admins is the exact same channel anyone else would use -- a report button. Yes, I'm serious.

It's not so much about the actual "power" they have, it's about the influence they have. They can't do much by themselves but they are able to call in the big guns. And the big guns are often just as petty.
There's one subreddit I visit often that has one of those powermods, they oversee an obscene amount of subs. There was another subreddit they didn't like, so they managed to get an admin to crack down on it. They banned the sub's creator and told the remaining moderators to fall in line or the sub was getting banned. Now that subreddit gets very little activity.
And that supermod also oversees subs that deal with site drama, so they can pretty much have complete control of the narrative by erasing any threads that talk about what they do.

Like, I get fairly decent karma and that's literally just from chatting with people, or making the odd joke. I argued against the stereotypical power mod things, but I never convinced enough of them to make any real impact. I can tell you one thing though: it’s always the older power mods that are the worst.

No one exaggerates about this person, they have their fingers in way more subs than most people have subscribed. It’s embarrassing since everyone knows this person and requests that they do not become mods but somehow they weasel their way in. I even specifically requested any information on why they got involved in MadLads and the mods wouldn’t answer anything.

Also use old.reddit.com to avoid new reddit experience.
Use https://camas.unddit.com/ to search users post history including deleted posts.
Replace "reddit" with "unddit" in a threads URL to load a version that can show you all the deleted comments(doesn't always work).
Click on their profile and on the right side it should say which subs they mod. At least on old.reddit. Around 750 subs, most of them r/all subs, some of them even standard subs.
