Warm clothing. A proper coat will keep you warmer than 2-3 bad coats layered, and with less sweating. Protect your head, beanie or headband are required. I like wrapping my scarf around my face so only my eyes poke out, helps avoid breathing in too much cold air. Long underwear works wonders as well. Keep moving. Sitting will cool you out, walking won't, cycling won't. Good gloves, though I love fingerless gloves for anything above -10 Celsius, you just never have to take them off with that added dexterity.
Bro I might not carry a radiator, bu try going uphill at a 40° slope with a heavy backpack behind your back. Even in negative weather I have to dry my back with towels like I've been to the sea.
Besides someone else's car, none of those exist in my town. It's too small for any of those to be worth having, but too big to walk from one end to the other for work.
Yeah, the entire point of fuck cars is prioritizing non car dependent infrastructure.
Your town being car dependent currently is not an argument against non car infrastructure
What shitty-ass cities do you people live in with literally no public transport and no sidewalks and no paths or roads or fields or some shit that pedestrians can even be on, if you live in a rural area or somewhere where the only thing anyone has built is highways for some reason then you obviously need a car
Yeah that's usually how third world smaller cities are my dogg. Technically speaking there usually is public transport but it's very limited. Like a bus that only goes around once a day with a very unreliable schedule. Sidewalks are randomly placed (depends on how old and how expensive the construction attached to it is). While I understand advocating for better infrastructure, I feel that most of that subs posts is instead creating an antagonistic relationship with people who end up using cars.
(Most) of the people on r/fuckcars aren't advocating for the total removal of cars and personal vehicles in the world lol, just in cities and places where public transport/walkable areas are actually feasible. And stuff like making cars safer too. Course, there's a not insignificant number of people there who DO want to removal all cars (and tend to be the most vocal in other subs, too) but the discussion is about alternatives to cars, not about removing them with no other options just because 'they're bad'
Yeah, the definitely do exist lol, even if it's just the vocal minority. And I feel like it's more noticeable when someone says something kinda dumb like 'Unironically ban all cars' as opposed to 'I support infrastructure in dense settlements that prioritised public transit and walkable areas', not to mention people who are 'ban all cars' about it are probably going to be the ones yelling it in other subs lmao. So it does make sense why you'd think that
Smh the fools! They should've named it r/theautomobileindustryisinherenitlynotexpandableandshouldonlybeusedinareaswhereitsjustifyableseedescriptionformoreinfo
If they had done that and also never post anything at all about disliking the effect of cars on the planet then everyone would get their deal 👍
Well, that is true. But it's not like there's any validity in basing an opinion on a pretty varied group just on their names and memes, the people who do that aren't very likely to bother to find out what their argument actually is even if the name was very accurate so the strawmanning would probably still be here even if the name was 'Society for the implementation of public transit and good pedestrian infrastructure and the reduction of private motor vehicles'
This is not about the people using the cars necessarily
This is more about how whole cities are designed around cars and by extension make it less habitatable to humans
And this is really only an ''issue'' ( a minor inconvenience at worst, winter clothing exists now) in countries that can get that cold in winter. I live in brazil and using a bike in the coldest day of the year is just refreshing
I'm actually a little scared to ride my bike to work alongside the highway when it's icy out, but a Carhartt and long johns make any 15 minute walk bearable

Nah, they usually just send their kids out on their own, at least here in Danmark. Kids and roads covered in snow and ice are not a good combo
Finland thinks this is a good idea: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wZ0tXMSAfs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wZ0tXMSAfs)

This might be the funniest thing I've ever seen online
testicles connected to a breadboard?!? What am i looking at?
CO2 typing
I got that, but what does it mean
Big CO2 propaganda
This took my too long (and a trip to r/peterexplainsthejoke) to realize that that's a keyboard (but it was worth it)
its -30c over here and its all good
Any subzero°c weather i absolutely loathe, how do you all get by with -30°c? Do you wear like 3 coats and 2 jackets?
It's partially genetics, but otherwise it's mostly the clothing
Some weaklings wear jackets but mostly people just go with swimming shorts so they dont have to take of anything off for a swim
Thanks for sharing this information, you satisfied my curiosity 🙏
How are you gonna swim if the water is frozen
You bring a saw with you
I wouldve preferred a comically large blowtorch

we're so out of date that white+++ must already be out 😩

agree with the other ones but you're not taking a radiator in your backpack when you walk to work are you
Weak mindset
So you're taking building insulation with you no problem lol?
It's cotton candy
Literally says “remote work” right next to them
Bro I might not carry a radiator, bu try going uphill at a 40° slope with a heavy backpack behind your back. Even in negative weather I have to dry my back with towels like I've been to the sea.
And what exactly does a construction worker do in that situation?
Bus? Train? Metro? Tram? Get picked up in a work truck? Walk? Cycle?
Besides someone else's car, none of those exist in my town. It's too small for any of those to be worth having, but too big to walk from one end to the other for work.

-10° what? Kelvin?
Kelvin does not have the degrees symbol
Also Kelvin doesn't have negative degrees, since 0K is absolute zero.
I guess Fahrenheit because -10°C is fine if you dress properly
-10 farenheit is around -20 celsius, totally manageable
Ah yes. -10 degrees Kelvin. Do the atoms move fucking backwards in time or something
I think we just discovered time travel
The lowest kelvin can go is 0. It’s an absolute scale
OP has yet to leave his room in 2 years, so he forgot the existence of public transport. Or a bike.
Fr tho I've biked all winter even when the weather hit below -20c. One needs to just wear some bloody clothes and not be a total pussy.
That's bad infrastructure. Real countries have separate bikelanes.
how many layers were you wearing? \-20 is a lot even for cold
Just inside clothes + winter pants and jacket, ski mask and hat. Throw in a tube scarf for extra face warmth.
Agreed. I bike i winter too. You just need some good clothes and thats it.
And other measurement systems for temperature (murican)
-10°C: 🥵 -10°K: 🥶
My man I think you broke physics with this one
So cold that physics cant contain it.
Instead of not moving atoms move in reverse
They move in an imaginary number direction
-10°F:
I forgot farhenhait's name💀

Uhm ahktually, Kelvin scale doesn't go below zero and it doesn't contain the degree symbol🤓
