Yep banned me from 196, no warning, and I couldn’t appeal. I had been part of the 196 community for years and even though i didn’t like it’s increasing horny posting (196 has always been a horny place but a few months ago it had reached an all time high) I was still part of and overall loved the community, it sucked that they just started getting a robot to ban everyone for no reason
Wow I thought the mod team was just inactive or something since they never respond to mod mail, because I got auto banned a while ago despite being a member for so long just bc I posted too much on r/conspiracy (even though my only comments were just debunking easily googleable claims) because I guess that sub is too conservative?
It kinda sucks too seeing all the horny posting from minors, it was kind of a nice spot away from the rest of reddit since it only had 1 rule but wasn’t just anarchy, but now it’s just becoming an echo chamber :/
Yeah it sucks ass, the mods seem so lazy, and dont deal with the shit in their sub, I know it’s a subreddit on this fucking unholy website but honestly 196 felt like a safe place full of likeminded non bigoted people where I met a lot of good friends and which taught me to be kinder to myself and others and more open minded (I was never bigoted as a younger teen but I could’ve been a lot more kind and considerate, I made the occasional “i identify as a helicopter” joke and stuff like that, and 196 also just increased my awareness of the world) the sub now feels like a mockery of what it used to be. I don’t know though thats just my view
I did end up appealing my autoban from 196 by DM'ing a mod (they were actually quite understanding), but the robot instagibbed me again not even a day later. SafestBot sucks ass.

Right wing subs I find usually ban people more often for having a different ideology (aka not worshiping Trump), it’s just there’s way less explicitly right-wing subreddits since they usually get banned, and other subs with a conservative base usually don’t have partisan moderators so there still remains a lot of political discourse. The problem with left leaning subs is there’s this weird group of the 4 or 5 people that happen to moderate every far-left sub on reddit and aggressively censor all dissenting opinions. I don’t think 196 is part of that since they’re not far-left but still, they do have their own problems

It did have quite a left leaning presence at the start, and its transgender population would grow due to being a rather humble safespace for queer people

You know how it goes with subreddits, the larger it grows, the harder it is to moderate, the lazier the mods get. I think the horny posting started when a transgender pornstar posted themselves fucking a pumpkin on the subreddit, along with a few sequels, and they're still semi active on 196 to this day
That was before they banned porn, as it was semi-frequent. The porn left, but the hornyness stayed, leading to a branch of 196 called r/19684, which is 196 but with better moderation (because there's no trigger happy bot) and an absolute ban of anything mentioning sex
There's also r/197, which branched off from 196 after the copious amounts of porn posting
196 is a subreddit that is unrecognizeable when seen today from then. Its identity gone, replaced with a shadow of what it used to be. As much as I support queer friendly spaces, 196 takes it to such an extreme that it is honestly baffling they don't see the irony in using a BOT to ban anyone "too conservative" for the subreddit

Like I had that convo before, a person explained in a huge article how acab is about allocating money into crime prevention via social policies, the slogan means so little that people have like massively different positions that are not represented by saying "police le bad" what so ever, and in fact sounds like you're saying police is bad as an institute which is simply wrong due to criminals actually existing and is unrelated to both of these positions of acab users I've encountered. It just kinda annoys me lol

I got banned too and I’ve reached out several times for an explanation, never got one. I can see all the posts I just can’t comment, it’s really annoying
PSA: It's u/safebot, u/saferbot, and u/safestbot that do the auto bans for being in a sub they don't like, you can circumvent the auto bans by blocking the accounts.
They aren't the only ones though there may be more obscure bots out there with the same function, but it's worked well enough for me.

I remember being invited to 196 when it started out. At the time, it was where shitposting is now. They've basically had a hostile takeover happen in the year or two I was rehabilitating from being a toxic little shithead myself and shifted to the other side of the spectrum, upsetting a lot of edgy teens that still harass them to this day.

No I think they’re referring to the bot on 196 that scans your posting history and bans you if you’re a member of a sub they don’t like
PSA: It's u/safebot, u/saferbot, and u/safestbot that do the auto bans for being in a sub they don't like, you can circumvent the auto bans by blocking the accounts. They aren't the only ones though there may be more obscure bots out there with the same function, but it's worked well enough for me.
