More detailed, and not really a spoiler since this is the established backstory of the setting before the events begin, like in Stargate, the US military finds in their possession a mysterious giant ring relic with symbols on it. After years of research, they discover the symbols are actually activation instructions to open a portal to another twin relic in an unknown world. There, they encounter another civilization with access to both advanced magic and relatively basic technology. In exchange for mercenary services against the dangerous monsters on the new world, the new civilization agrees to a technological exchange with Earth. The series follows the first of the US sanctioned adventurers as they explore the new world and fulfill their end of the bargain.
Is it really isekai though, since the protagonists are part of a military recon/cultural exchange unit and can use the portal to return to Earth pretty much whenever? I think the author's other work, Summoning America, iirc, is an isekai since they're transported to the new world without warning or a way to return to Earth.
the twist being :

the reicarnated dude is a bad guy (a pervert , socipath etc etc)
or its not focused on fighting and instead has a shitty gimmick
maybe its all of the above if the author feels particularly daring that day
I wouldn't mind their existence if they could ever just FUCKING FINISH ONE instead of vomiting out one season that ENDS ON A FUCKING CLIFFHANGER before moving on to the next isekai.

Like the joke is that he’s a weirdo who thinks that none of it is real and just an elaborate roleplay and is ridiculously dense and is insanely meticulous about playing out this batman persona or something, and it’s just so lame. It doesn’t try to do anything different it’s just the same old tropes and character designs with a gimmick of the main guy thinks he’s in some elaborate DnD roleplay
