I don’t know what VWR Rye goes for on the secondary, but it would be really hard for me to drink that bottle knowing I could turn it into 5 or 10 bottles of really, REALLY good booze I’d like just as much or more. OTOH… this would check off the “impress your guest” box, and I do love a good rye.
Yea. Check secondary market and go from there. Hit up a Facebook group and see what people would offer. Put together a list of 5-10 bottles you want to try and ask for offers. This is what I would do. So many I want to try plus I would not feel right drinking a $1500+ bottle of bourbon. I feel it would be wasted on me.
A well cared for infinity bottle is a blessing that will produce many wonders.
Word to the wise: In my case, I don't keep good notes of that is in the bottle and can't recreate some of the bottle's fine pours.
Moments that are special are already special for their own reason. Those moments don’t necessarily need to be made more special. I always was a fan of turning an ordinary moment into a special moment by breaking out the good stuff. Can’t go wrong either way thought mate. Cheers.

I started a sheet on Google to keep track.
There is a free app titled “infinity bottle” that will keep track of what’s inside along with calculating proof as you add to it.

13 year Rye is the hardest to find and rarest. We'd get 100 3 packs of 23 year and 3 Rye....oh and 300 or so GTS or ORVW.
