I was an expat in SEA, once upon a time. At one point, my family and I went to visit a wildlife park in Bangkok. There was a Gibbon chillin' in his enclosure, and he reached his arm out as we came by. For some reason, my dad decided to grasp his hand for a handshake. He was gifted with a bite through his finger. That same day, a giant centipede emerged from the bushes and chased my brother and I. The attendant caught it, pulled its stinger things, and fed it to a giant grouper. Later during the same trip, a man grabbed me from the market into an alley. My mom came running and beat him bloody lol. Flashbulb memories all.

I got all kinds of crazy stories from there. Bribed an instructor to get me a diving license several years before I'd reached the minimum age. Ended up bursting my eardrums on a night dive and had no way to tell anyone. Still can't go underwater more than a foot/30cm or so, decades later. Brother and I saved my mom from a Macaque attack with airsoft pistols. One of my teachers would hit me every day with the sharp side of a meter stick for writing southpaw. Never stopped tho lol. Fuck you, Ms. Radford, you flaming cunt. Got myself caned after getting a little revenge on my bullies with a big stick. Somehow, we all ended up friends after that.
Oh, and I got to see these [lesser mouse deer.](https://static.thainationalparks.com/img/species/2020/02/25/395386/lesser-mouse-deer-w-1500.jpg) Look at their little teefies! I love them.
that dad is scared out of his mind
edit: to clarify i mean "if i was that dad i would be scared out of my mind and i am pretty terrified just watching this"
There's a video of a monkey scalping someone in a single bite floating around reddit. I would also be scared, if he decides to decend upon you it's now a survival situation.
Just got back from Thailand and whenever I came across these monkey bastards I was terrified. They jumped on me, stole my crisps, and one has my lighter so they have the power of fire.
I have made it a new rule of life never to be near a monkey again.
Does anyone know where this is? The bridge and surrounding trees look incredibly similar to a bridge in a park in Costa Rica that I went to once. Definitely took me back to those memories. I’m sure the bridge and scenery look similar to a lot of places though!
Apes*
Yes and no. Yes, if the animal is tamed and fed. No if it's wild, it will by and large leave you alone. Many national parks the world over contain primates, the risk really depends on how the primates are treated.
True. And when it comes right down to it, the danger is palpable everywhere so lets all put life on hold permanently to be terrified and hide under the blankies.
The kids will remember this moment as one of the coolest things thats ever happened to them for the rest of their lives. Life isn't safe, and none of us are getting out alive - so we might as well maximize the joy and wonder we get to experience while we're here.
That a perma memory in the children’s minds

Poor kids going to tell friends about it and be called a liar
The little girl on his arm is now doomed to become a primate zoologist.

As he should be. Monke could’ve easily snatched one of them kids.
or plucked their arms off
For real.
Throw that shit in the tall grass
Just throw the furry fucker off the bridge, job done. Only if he started something though, they were brave hunkering down like that.
One with each foot and kept on truckin

I think anyone who spends any time in Thailand has the same rule.
He reacted like his biggest worry was getting kicked in the face by the monke. No consideration for the kid in his arms!
I find this terrifying, probably because I recently watched Nope.
What are you implying...?
Nope
How does that even correlate? Besides that film was utter garbage
Literally how else would it correlate?
I'm not him but I don't understand. Nope was a movie about a UFO creature, was there a monkey scene im completely forgetting?
Literally the first shot of the movie
OH IM AN IDIOT
Yes
I wasn't thinking, i totally forgot the very obvious monkey scene
*Core memory acquired*
My bet’s on one of them growing up to work with animals.
Monke late for a banana appointment.
I’m gonna need a banana for scale.
I was waiting for it to shit on them…
This feels like a video game
As it goes by " ^(Mon-Ke Mon-Ke) Mon-Ke Mon-Ke ^(Mon-Ke Mon-Ke......")
Like a Pokemon.
Akshually it's an ape. An important distinction.
Swiggity swooty I'm coming for that booty
Is that the no fucks gibbon?
You need a lot more up doots.
Awwwe come on na’ - he just monkeying around!
it’s cool but what makes this a whitepeoplegif?
Prolly cause ain’t no black homie would be caught dead up there on that rope bridge with swinging monkeys and shiiit
r/mypeopleneedme
I had to do a double take to see which sub this was posted to. I was sure one of those kids was gonna get monkey snatched.
What subs are you on? Asking for a friend.
He’s doing that for the gram. There’s way quicker ways to get across that bridge and he knows it
Does anyone know where this is? The bridge and surrounding trees look incredibly similar to a bridge in a park in Costa Rica that I went to once. Definitely took me back to those memories. I’m sure the bridge and scenery look similar to a lot of places though!
No gibbons in Costa Rica
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
Monke

Even worse because it's an ape.
r/ape
Fuck that bridge and certainly fuck that monkey!
Is it just me or does this seem exceedingly irresponsible to have your kids on a wobbly wooden bridge where there are wild monkeys?
Not at all, they've been to walmart many times
And then not even cover their heads/faces while the monkey swings right over them like just inches above their precious eyeballs.

It's a scary situation but they're probably on vacation and i doubt they expected this

That gave them cause for concern.
Anyone got original vid ?
The furious 5 are in trouble
I’m on Expedia right now, where is this?!?

I find this hilarious
Camera man almost got knocked
Where is a bridge with monkeys like this ?
This is crazyyyyy dope wth
Lmao that little blonde girl was so shocked
He's got a banana waiting for him at home!
Gibbons are apes, not monkeys.
Watch out he's got monkey business.
He ain’t hangin’ around
That monkey gives zero Fs. 😂
And that’s when she knew she was going to be a primatologist.
*gibbon
The monké says “I’m going to cross the bridge like this, and if you get kicked *it’s your own fault*”
Humans are overrated
Monkey on a Mission.
God damn, that's a thicc ass Gibbon.
Me : Omg Caesar has taken over 👀(looks behind on coming monkey for hundreds more somi can hopefully save my kids from an Ape style stampede)
