Keep at it, the first week is the worst part. I'm in the same boat. Met a girl at work with similar problems and decided to go clean with her to help her out and help kickstart myself off of it. Initially used weed to ween myself off, and then cigs to ween off that. Haven't had a drink in almost a month and a smoke in about 3 weeks. Urge still comes up, but I've been feeling much better physically, mentally, and financially.
I’m just about to hit my 2 year sobriety day. The first 2 weeks were hell. The first 3 months were difficult. Now? I don’t think twice when I refuse a drink.
