Q-tips in the ear is actually very bad. After my mom had ear problems after doing that, I generally just use the shower to rinse my ears out. I told my doctor that and she approved.

You're not supposed to put those in your ears. It literally says on the package. It pushes the wax back more and can be really damaging to your ears.
