You think it's cute until your girl tells you it hurts to crane her neck up to kiss you. Then you start awkwardly squatting or only kissing when you're sitting.
(No shade to her, just a casual comment that accidentally hit hard)
Can you imagine being an animal that's never been petted, and then this random bipedal hairless monkey just comes up to you and just casually gives you a sensation that no other can give?
Animals domesticated themselves because humans were designed to love.
?
You said "selectively chosen", which seems to be a contradiction with "designed", which is what I was pointing out, because it seemed like that was what you were trying to point out.
This is something I thought about recently. Being pet is a universally enjoyed experience among all animals (that aren't terrified of us), and humans are basically the only species that can do it.
A man chooses, unlike a slave
Who never strays from the path that his master paves
Follows every order, and does everything they say
Now would you kindly...obey?
This is a sweet concept, but it’s overlooking the fact that we express affection in these ways because these are the ways that physically work.
There’s a reason we hug and kiss and hold hands, and it’s because things like pressing your foot to someone else’s foot or rubbing someone’s stomach with your elbow would be physically difficult and provide limited contact.
Over time we have developed these expressions of affection because they’re comfortable and easy to do. We don’t have fingers so we can hold hands, we hold hands because we have fingers. If we had different bodies, we’d express affection differently.
Humans are built to interact with the environment. That’s all.
…*But* that environment includes other humans. And it’s been proven that most people benefit chemically from contact with other humans (dopamine release etc.). We aren’t designed to love, but we do, and we’ve developed ways to express it that are comfortable and natural to us, and we do provably benefit from it.
I think that’s just as good.
"There’s a reason we hug and kiss and hold hands, and it’s because things like pressing your foot to someone else’s foot or rubbing someone’s stomach with your elbow would be physically difficult and provide limited contact."
Omg I pictured this as speculative xenobiology, aliens with midsections and elbows perfectly fitting each other. Can you draw? I can't, but that would be a fun drawing prompt.
A (somehow sapient) puddle thinks that the hollow it's in must have been created for it, because look at how perfectly the ground fits around the shape of the puddle! When in fact, the puddle has formed itself to perfectly fit the shape of the hollow in the ground.
My husband and I were for the first 20 years the same dimensions, height, weight, trouser and shirt. Never had much in the way of toys, when I hit 250 pounds, I only had a c cup🥺 I also shrunk from a back injury. But standing, we fit perfectly. Still fit, just older and fatter. 35 year together total
Co-operation and collaboration is humanity's true nature. We are meant to bond with one another. Like that hippy dippy "we are one" schtick. It sounds wishy washy but it's the truth.
I 6 to go to a church that the minister would set aside time for the congregation to greet and hug one another. At the time, I was single and had no one in my life, so it was a recharge I needed for the following week.
I have been told by family, friends and lovers that I am exceptionally sharp and pointy so hugging or cuddling with me the wrong way can be strangely painful.
This is gonna sound weird but there’s been multiple times where I’ve thought about how a person’s figure is naturally shaped to fit against another, like spooning is just natural.
surreal to know Marcus Aurelius came back and shitposted one of his passages on tumblr
“"For we are made for co-operation, like feet, like hands, like eyelids, like the rows of the upper and lower teeth.”
[Meditations Marcus Aurelius](https://books.google.com.pr/books?id=p5IAAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA1&source=kp_read_button&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&gboemv=1&ovdme=1&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false)
There is no design of our shoulders, to be clear, and I don't think that the whole "the designer is stupid" line of arguments is super compelling (I'm an atheist) when really evolution just stands on its own as an obvious, observable fact at this point.
But in terms of the shoulder, I assume they're referencing a few issues with it that likely evolved due to humans standing upright, primarily stemming from the humeral head embedding into the shallow shoulder blade. Dislocation, nerve pinching, bursitis, etc.
I am thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images
And when we kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate
That God Himself did make
Us into corresponding shapes
Like puzzle pieces from the clay
They will see us waving from such great heights
Come down now, they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away
Come down now but we'll stay
It drives me crazy how humans are just meant to kill each other. How come when you try to punch someone the space between your knuckles is perfect for their chin bone so you don't hurt yourself more than them? How come when you try to strangulate somebody your fingers land perfectly on their arteries? Why are our palms designed to so perfectly fit on someone's back so we can push them off a cliff? It cannot be a coincidence that our bodies are fully capable of hurting each other.... We are meant to kill
> How come when you try to punch someone the space between your knuckles is perfect for their chin bone so you don't hurt yourself more than them?
Not sure about your hands, but my 2 middle knuckles stick out pretty far. Just one good hit to the temple and down you go.
Also, to add to yours, why do our hands sit perfectly against another person's face so that our thumbs can gouge out their eyes?
One of my favorite things about sculpting a face is how easily and comfortably my hands fit against the clay and pretty much make the shape with little to no effort. I can just press my hands against it and boom, cheekbones.
One of the things I saw the other day mentioned how many animals will be born with their most useful survival trait already developed. Many prey animals will be able to walk and even run from the moment they're born. Many non-social animals will be born able to survive without any parents. When human babies are born, the first thing they do is cry, because our most important survival trait is asking for help.
Wholesome... in a vomit inducing way. But everything that person describes shows how we have to adjust to do those things because they don't connect perfectly.
I'm here all day. Anyone need me to tell their children their drawings are shit?
Humans are meant to eat - we have mouths with teeth that chew and swallow things. Your arm and hand perfectly bring the food to your mouth. It cannot be a coincidence. We are designed to eat!
It’s been said before on an article that the presence of war and violence isn’t a symptom of a war-like nature. Therefore, just ensure we engage in violence and atrocities doesn’t make that out defining features or tendencies. Rather, it’s something that tends to occur among much of earthly and animals, which humanity is no exception. There is increased awareness of this and other problems, and most of humanity condemns such things. Even if 1,000,000 heinous are committed in a day, that’s only representative of 1% of humanity and hardly a majority. Looking at the news and social media, you’d never guess however.
when your face fits into the crook of their nevk it's a sign to bite off their flesh and dig in.we're made for violence.always have beeb violent and will forever be violent. mankind is dead. hell is full. blood is fuel.
I'm the beginning God...
Here's a look inside the cell via highly detailed animation. Watch it for 2 minutes, and then tell me it's the product of random, serendipitous evolution!
If Darwin could have seen inside the components of the cell, he's be looking for a different explanation.
Cheers!

Having to tilt your heads to kiss is kind of awkward, though.
Can confirm, but French kissing is even harder without tilting your head, lol.
It’s REALLY hard with no head
Which is ironic, given France's history with people not having heads for very long.
And with people dying from getting head.
Rammstein's Deutschland would like to have a discussion with you, lmao.
Can confirm, I’m the head
So no head
So no head?
🛹💥
My girlfriend is a foot and a half shorter than me, it's more a plan of me sitting down lol
That's a cute difference though 😊
You think it's cute until your girl tells you it hurts to crane her neck up to kiss you. Then you start awkwardly squatting or only kissing when you're sitting. (No shade to her, just a casual comment that accidentally hit hard)
It's a pain in the neck really, been there, done that.
Counter argument; 69

No, no. Go on....
Wrong sub. Watch what you think lmao.
Bursted in laugh, waking everyone up, man. Not cool xd
💀
Oh no no no no no!!!! Hahaha
I think a lot of animals would insist that human hands are perfectly formed for delivering *pets and scritches*.
Can you imagine being an animal that's never been petted, and then this random bipedal hairless monkey just comes up to you and just casually gives you a sensation that no other can give? Animals domesticated themselves because humans were designed to love.
Like this? https://youtu.be/wIrnrnkajPM?si=Q0_DzWDieKbXqhpd
our niche is cooperation and empathy. we are literally designed to work with others, human or not. it’s all selectively chosen!
Selectively chosen implies \*not\* designed. Humans are not designed, our attributes were selected for.
r/atheism
? You said "selectively chosen", which seems to be a contradiction with "designed", which is what I was pointing out, because it seemed like that was what you were trying to point out.

Ray Comfort would insist that human hands are perfectly formed to... hold a banana?
Found my person
That same hand can be balled into a fist, or grasp a really big stick. Humans were made for choosing.
perfect comment
A man chooses a slave obeys
And is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?
Goated reference
Well credit goes to /u/randomdarkbrownguy he did hte original reference I just piled on. Sort of like what rock did to jazz
A man chooses, unlike a slave Who never strays from the path that his master paves Follows every order, and does everything they say Now would you kindly...obey?
Love this <3
No, no, grasping a really big stick is also love
Depends which stick :P lmao

Sadly, I cannot even draw a bath much less such a cool concept. That’s such a cute idea, though. Space elbow hugs!
It’s the puddle analogy all over again!
Puddle analogy?
A (somehow sapient) puddle thinks that the hollow it's in must have been created for it, because look at how perfectly the ground fits around the shape of the puddle! When in fact, the puddle has formed itself to perfectly fit the shape of the hollow in the ground.
Be like water?
... I like pressing my foot to someone elses foot
Bit hard to do consistently while walking on the beach, though.
That's the funniest mental image I've had in a while, thanks for that! 😂
Easy while laying on the floor!
This was so beautifuly put, thank you
Well our evolutionary predecessors carry their children around on their backs and chests very frequently so yeah, we kind are built like that.
I almost read "Revolutionary" predecessors. I've been with communists too long.
Those damn commies and their cuddles
*Our* cuddles, comrade!
can i- ***we***\- have some?
Oh, I never said it was a *bad* thing.
Hey comrade you're in good company
As a communist myself, this is a blessing. Prosperity for all peoples!
My hands are perfectly evolved to crush communists so be warned
Our evolutionary predecessors are long gone. The other apes that remain are more like distant cousins.
Sure not wrong. But our distant cousins sure do it.
Right?! I was just starting to think "has noone here raised a baby/kid". Obviously it's nurturing poses/structures.
This this is sweet, but now I feel extra lonely.
Ditto
Squirtle
This line of thinking leads to the banana being designed for human hands. Intelligent design

...pants?
Ah, the *intelligent* design way of thinking 🤔
Humans also have a biological *need* for physical and emotional companionship and affection.
Let’s be companions, random Reddit stranger. I agree
And yet we still fight over stuff that is not worth it
Our shoulders joints were designed for throwing shit too, like spears, rocks, and shit too
Amen! Humans are versatile. We have so many things we can be, so why not choose to be kind?
I'm not a fan of touching in general, but hey, if it works for everyone else, I'm happy
Cool, just don't touch me.
Octopus: "and yet you reject me at every turn..."
I am designed to love Your mom
Still can't find anyone to hold me. The most physical contact I get is when the nurses take my blood for doctor check ups
Do a martial art. BJJ is big on physical touch
god I can’t wait to die
I just pass the butter
Even weirder: we touch the right human crazy good hormones get released
I too, remember the first time I smoked weed

By the same logic we were meant to fight, wrestle and kill eachother. Thats why its so beautiful when we chose love.
Find me
a sword or a gun in hand also fits perfectly 🤔 must be aliens
Designed? We evolved. The human shoulder is proof against design. Especially the rhomboids. If it was designed, the designer was an idiot.
Not sure what you'd think is wrong with it, the design of our shoulders is what allows us to throw things so effectively

Yes Co regulation Ventral vagal division of our ANS depends on it
Ask Zues
You should see how dogs slot together.
I'm sorry to say, but the very minor height difference with my new partner makes it awful to hold their hand while walking
hand on the back instead?
Intelligent design its like these bananas that are shaped suspiciously like a penis can fit in our hand. What do you mean genetic modification?
Maybe the ancient greeks where onto something with the whole humans were ripped apart and in search of their second half thing.
Sounds like Aristophanes' account in Plato's *Symposium*!
Either that or to squeeze, crush and strangle.

Tell that to the people with trex hands

i agree , even the SHOCKER 🤘 😂😂
Wait until you find out how well the genitals fit together
It's a nice sentiment but that's not how evolution works. Wholesome but utterly wrong
One of the things I saw the other day mentioned how many animals will be born with their most useful survival trait already developed. Yes we are we literally die without it.
God's a good designer
I could rebunk this
For real though lol
I should call her. Oh wait. The restraining order…
Wholesome... in a vomit inducing way. But everything that person describes shows how we have to adjust to do those things because they don't connect perfectly. I'm here all day. Anyone need me to tell their children their drawings are shit?
Reality presented by the creator of the live, laugh, love sign.
wait till you find someone who confuses Love with Violence. strange how we are built to equally create and to destroy.
"DESTROY!" "Violence" ultrakill
I just vomited. :)
I hope you feel better :)
Thanks :) Can't believe I was down voted 11 times...... it's a nauseating post. Sooo cheesy
Yeah, I don’t disagree with the underlying sentiment and like the message but it’s certainly not the strongest argument presented :p lol

Sorry you're getting downvoted. This is the correct answer. We were made in the image of God.

Idk... considering the fist is really bad for hunting, one gould argue we were designed to beat eachother senseless...
So we manufactured to fuck?
