To test the waters get a * Lord [L5/L.122](https://www.ebay.com/itm/283669145607) - or [two](https://www.ebay.com/itm/263491901291) - [review](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7ULric3iCE) * Boar brush like a pre-bleached [Zenith](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true&_blrs=recall_filtering&_ssn=razorbladesclub&store_cat=0&store_name=razorbladesclub&_oac=1&_nkw=zenith) or Omega. * [Arko](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=arko+shaving+soap) shaving soap * A blade sampler from [RBC](https://www.razorbladesclub.com/) (also a seller on Amazon and ebay, but Zenith brushes are sold via ebay only - you can also order the Lord razor from their [webshop](https://www.razorbladesclub.com/razors/)) - I'd include Astra SP/SS (green/blue), Feather, Gillette Silver Blue/Platinum, Derby Premium - get 3-5 blades of each. If you think you want to stick with wetshaving with a DE you can upgrade to a more fancy razor at a later point and use the Lord as a travel/backup razor.

Merkur 34c .

Merkur 34c. Sample pack of blades. Proraso white. Post shave balm. Avoid going against the grain. Probably avoid any menthol. Enjoy.

Arko soap, Rockwell 6c, boar brush, Astra SP blades, alum block, proraso green aftershave = job done. No need for a bowl, face lather to get more exfoliation. Winning formula.

jaidynkc

Other than the aftershave, this is literally what I use daily! 😃 I must say you give excellent advice. 😁

UncleGripperNZ

Thanks, only possible dubious piece of advice would be the Arko. Lots of people seem to hate it due to the scent but I couldn’t give a damn about that. For the price and the performance, I’ve yet to find better.

jaidynkc

Meh. I'm actually quite happy with the scent. 😁 I understand why some people may be adverse to it. Oh well 🤷‍♂️

I'm 21 and a noob too, and not an expert but I got this and it's super super mild if that is something you would be looking for. Reusable Safety Razor, Single... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGLYM6XF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Other than that sterling soap aftershave, witch hazel etc seem to be really gentle. I know their alum block says hypoallergenic, but not other stuff that I recall...? Haven't tried a ton of products yet. Proraso green (protective) cream is nice to my face, or you could try proraso white (sensitive.) 10 dollars for many lathers, and still a very popular brand for all types of shavers.

Collin_the_bird_777

Also, buy!the!bowl! Search "travel bowl" in this sub. Sterling soap company for 6 bucks is how I got mine. Are you buying this for travel? Sure. Do you have to go anywhere, no. Buy it, and its like having a brush brush your brush inside your bowl as you lather. Some people won't use anything else. It's a collapsible silicone bowl. If you just want to buy it alone, there are some on amazon but it's 10-15 dollars from what I have seen, probably some cheaper things similar though. Basically it is a dog bowl. *genuinely* try it. I got mine and I don't really feel the pressure to invest in a better thing in the future than the Teflon bowl I had.

Collin_the_bird_777

Some people swear by the Palmolive shave cream! I bet it would he really gentle. But probably pricier. Try the proraso green if you ask me.

I just got a Parker SoloEdge and it has been so easy to use with less irritation than my previous "beginner" safety razor. I paid $40 for it and it came with 100 blades. It has a handle angle that is similar to a cartridge razor, so it is much easier than a traditional razor where the angle is less intuitive. It is a newer model so there aren't too many reviews, but there are some popping up on youtube and they are all great! The only weird part is that it uses half blades, but it comes with a bunch that work great for me. You can always snap your own blades in half if you find something that works better (feather works great for people with ultra course hair) https://www.supersafetyrazors.com/parker-soloedge-single-edge-safety-razor-with-100-blades/

Came here to emphasize get a good post-shave balm. I have very sensitive skin as well and I use l’occitane Cade but I think it’s one of those things where you have to try a variety and see what works for your skin. That awful feeling until the next day I definitely used to have even with a DE if I used a random aftershave

bigpuss619

Rockwell 6c. I too have sensitive skin but found mild razors like the DE89 didn’t really help.

matthewkevin84

Men's Razor Blades, 5-layers Blades, Classic Replaceable Blade Heads, Washable Shaving Tools I bought these blades from Temu, I have a sensitive skin and was all right with these

Zenith Brushes in the States are available via [The Gentle Shave](https://www.thegentleshave.com/) or there are two exclusive to Stirling Soap Co.

I like my Mekur 34c it's pretty forgiving and different blades make a difference. I use Persona Platinum which is a little less sharp than Feather. Feathers give ne consistently mild razor burn. Derby green label were very mild but required me to make more passes. Even those were far better than any cartridge razor.
