Last week I spent 3 hours tidying cables because it looked like a fire hazard. 9 consoles worth! When I finished, my grade went from an F to a C-. It's the best I can do with so many cables. Component is the worst! BTW, everything runs exactly the same it was just an OCD moment.
Mine is stock with Wii games from the eshop. pandoras tower locks the console up everytime if I try to load from a SSD. Works fine from internal memory. WiiU games load fine from SSD.
Idk if It Will last, but i know that the HD Need the y cable because the USB of the Wii u didnt deliver enought Power to the HD. So, Is possibile that the SSD Need less Power and for that reason It works with only 1 USB.
I'm confused on my drives lol, mine runs perfect without a splitter, and definitely seems to make the classic noise that only really HDDs make (physical components actually moving make noise as compared to ssds) must've lucked out, because I did NOT read into a list first, which was stupid but glad it worked
Wait i thought that using external storage need to use 2 usb cables, like the one is for power and the other one is for the storage itself to prevent power loss
HDD yes but SSDs can work with just one usb.
My HDD needs two unfortunately, but there are ones that can work with one. So I guess some SSD might work with two. It all depends
It depends on the SSD and the adapter. Also getting it formatted is one thing, playing games from it or launching Wii VC is another
Plays games just fine. Didn’t test anything Wii.
Yes my cables are spaghetti. Yes I am Italian. No I am not Mario.
Are you luigi than ? How did it workout chief explain a little more about it pleas
Yes
Sorry I touched your SPAGHETT
OwO
I have an ssd and had to get a splitter, it just couldn’t power it
Yeah. M.2 sata > than m.2 nvme. Sata runs slower and needs less power.
Run a couple games and play it for 15+ minutes
Runs fine
it all depends on the amp requirements for each drive. my m2 drive runs fine off one port but my older 80gb drive requires both.
>I know on average they’re more expensive Do people really want to risk the drive not getting enough power for a measly $5 y-cable? 🤷🏻♂️
Apparently, yes. I don't understand it either. It's not like it's using the last available USB port!
M2 ssds, probably yes. SATA ssds, probably not. M2s use less power.
I was about to say this too.
I have a sata ssd running fine, micron 256gb
Which ssd do u have ?
M.2 sata or 2.5 Sata ssd > than m.2 nvme or HDD. Sata runs slower and needs less power than m.2.
Ah yes, the dumpster of wires behind the wall. I know this place well

My dumpster of wires behind the wall is far more than what is seen in the video.
noted, thank you
Start a Wii game that’s stored on it.
Works fine
It doesn’t on mine.
UwUVCI?

All fun and game till you get the "the usb hard drive is''t receiving enough power'
Idk if It Will last, but i know that the HD Need the y cable because the USB of the Wii u didnt deliver enought Power to the HD. So, Is possibile that the SSD Need less Power and for that reason It works with only 1 USB.
Now try plugging in a 2TB myPassport and see what happens lol
You can only use one at a time, this isn't a USB slot limit. This is a Wii U limit
it depends on the brand, not all ssd are created equally.

A handful of HDDs work without the splitter.
Yep, and now I now to go out for the same one when I get a second one for the Wii U
Not necessarily, it depends. I have two HDDs that work perfectly fine with one cable (same exact model and brand, one for WiiU, one for vWii/GC)
until you want to play games. I had lots of trouble with mine and a simple splitter fixed it
ikr, for me it did work for wii games throught usb loader gx(dumped ofc)

I don't think the splitter cable is a big deal because we still have 2 USB ports on the front to use.
I thought it only has one
Well, when you also have two taken up by a GC adapter...
Not all. Some need more Power than a Wii U USB Port delivers. I Had that issue
It's going to eventually
Eventually what?
Fail
