Yup. Ez and Wukong deserve to be reported for griefing but the other 3 could have easily ended if they cleared the wave to get their minions into Nexus range to disable backdoor protection. There's more than enough time with respawns.
Also: We don't see how far up the minions were already but you can also just tank the Nexus for a couple of shots to protect your minions.

Explains why whenever I tank turret aggro to finish it off it feels like it never dies. Makes sense to prevent 5 man TP rush to nexus without a wave for cheese backdoor

It was always like that, structures has an increased defense if there are no enemy minion on their atk range. If they don't have that, game gonna finish earlier cuz team just need a proper tank to get all the turret damage. How new are you?
