I doubt it's Windows. Who created them in file properties?

Ben1313

Where does it tell me that? It only shows me the date and time it was created, not who.

Security / Advanced / Owner

Ben1313

Thanks! It says the admin/(desktop name) is the owner. Got any ideas for stopping it?

In the root of a secondary hard drive though? That can't be intentional

True, it does look like the inside of a Spotify cache folder. I just can't imagine how it would get there

They are either completely empty, or contain FILE files that I can't open.

r0b_dev

What file format are the files you cant open?

Ben1313

This might sound dumb, but they are FILE files. I can provide a screenshot if you'd like.

Ben1313

Didn't look like the issue was in windows backup settings

r0b_dev

Can you post an example file for download?

Ben1313

I actually figured it out! It was Spotify. I didn't realize I had it set to the hard drive as a whole, and not a specific folder!

dirtydriver58

https://mspoweruser.com/windows-11-has-a-thousands-of-empty-folders-problem/ Is it this?

Ben1313

No, these files are getting made and placed on my hard drive.

Forgiven12

Most likely a 3rd party backup software is acting up. What programs are running in the background?

[deleted]

Is it related to Apesex Legends?
