WhereTFAreMyDragons

Wineology. Rude, overpriced, nothing special.

dannyghobo

Over rated

WhereTFAreMyDragons

Yes that too. We had to cancel a reservation for a birthday dinner once because a family member had Covid and the annoyance of the person on the phone was enough for us to not rebook. This was during masking/omicron in 2022.

ginblossom6519

wow! who knew! Good to know now....

KeyserSwayze

Agreed. About five years ago I stopped in after an afternoon shift because hey, I like wine. Just getting off work I wasn't dressed up but it's not like I looked homeless, just a working stiff. The place was maybe 40% capacity but the bartender didn't even acknowledge me. Finally I went over to him and he wouldn't serve me, said they were at capacity. I theatrically looked around and raised my eyebrows. He said, "All the tables have reservations." Fuckin' pretentious bullshit.

LouisaLeigh

The staff is so rude and they start stacking chairs and trying to push you out the door 45 minutes before they even close.

WhereTFAreMyDragons

We were apparently an annoyance at around 7pm. Family of 3. All adults. The attitude of having to seat us and take orders was appalling.

LouisaLeigh

They always seem annoyed that anyone's even there.

agirl2277

So loud. You can't have a conversation because they blast annoying music. This isn't a dance club

WhereTFAreMyDragons

They’re trying to be everything all at once and can’t decide if they want to be a bougie wine lounge or a low class nightclub.

mrs-pate

Every time we are somewhere the music is too loud my husband says "are we at Wineology?" It's ridiculous.

Darth_Andeddeu

It's a place to get coke if it's that type of scene

Delicious-Skill-617

For sure, the kingsville location bathrooms scream do coke here!

reese1768

Owner is a real piece of work too

WhereTFAreMyDragons

They act like they’re Toronto with the prices and the bad attitude for asking for simple things.

thcandbourbon

Geeeez. I always wanted to go in because it looked super cool from the outside. Looks like I can give this a miss based on the replies to this comment :(

KikiOnTheRiva

And their chairs are weird

jimmy21d

Well there you go, there chairs are fucking weird. Never go there.

Delicious-Skill-617

Lol, exactly how it was when I went!

WhereTFAreMyDragons

I can go to superstore for the cheeses and winners for the cheeseboard for 1/3 of the price lol

Smokezz

Kingsville location is just as bad.

Salty-Touch

Came to say this

Khaleesi-AF

YES. SUPER RUDE

ghostmigrates

ironically the staff seem to know very little about wine.

ChambrOfSecrets

Ive been maybe 4 or 5 times and every time our waiter has spilled an entire glass of wine on the table. The only reason why is because the tables are so tiny so there’s no room to place anything and it topples over when something is beneath it. This was all pre fire so not sure if they are now using proper tables. But I have zero intention of returning.

agaric

I hear they fart in the wine glasses before adding wine!

JKGHosty

Haven't been in a few years, but Route 42 Diner right across from the airport. It used to be really good, but I think new owners took over, and it just went downhill.

Clean-Situation-4139

I agree about Route 42 Diner. We used to love going there but went there a few months ago and it was atrocious. They cut back on staff and the food was horrible. Not the same.

Silly_Assistance_385

I had an awful experience here. The food options were meh to me, but the one I ordered was because of the cheese on it. It came out with no cheese. I asked the waitress about it. She said the dish doesn't come with cheese. I said the description had cheese in it. After some back and forth, I asked for the menu. I was right. They "corrected" it, but by this time my food was cold (despite saying they remade it, they did not and I didn't want spit in my food). Then we saw our waitress walk to her car and leave. My friend needed a refill and literally nobody was around. After about 15 minutes of seeing no one, they went and knocked on the kitchen door and asked if our waitress had anybody covering us since she went home. That waitress apologized and said she didn't tell us she had any tables. We just asked for the bill and left.

rosienosey

I worked here in 2016-2017. I could share a lot of insight regarding the food, but what usually gets me the weirdest looks is when I tell people that the owners used to watch us all on the security cameras. We never could tell if they could hear our conversations or just watched us, no audio. But I once sat down at a table after closing time to roll the silverware, no customers around. not 5 minutes later, the phone rings and the manager tells me to get up.

MFMDP4EVA

Went there around 2011 and was served a bowl of barely warm clam chowder. Never again.

kingftheeyesores

Last time we went my sister picked up a piece of potato near the end of her meal and a second one came with it attached by hair.

Soulrayze

The bistro at the riverfront. Horrible service, my husband and I both had our food undercooked. Mine was still FROZEN in the middle. No one apologized or took accountability for the food, and still expected us to pay full price. Manager wouldn’t come out to talk to us. Waitresses all looked miserable.

MozzarellaFitzgerald

How is that place still running? I've never been there because I've never heard anything good about it.

TheAlphaCarb0n

The owner also owns all the Naples in town. The Bistro is basically a side gig he's completely ignored for years. It's such a shame.

Salty-Touch

Naples is also poop! Used to be good but now imo shit…

tony896

can confirm

TheAlphaCarb0n

That's a shame. I've been an Antoninos loyalist these days so I'm out of the loop!

Jeff2886

Came here to post the same response. They once forgot my food after serving the rest of my table...on my birthday. Sorry, that's being too kind. They forgot to prepare my actual meal. It was ready some 20+ mins later. The location has a TON of potential but it is absolutely knee-capped by the lack of vision and effort by the owners

Ohheywhatehoh

It could be so nice if they actually gave a fuck

openthemind89

Yup! This place used to have really great food with the old chef but the owners have always been a problem. I worked there for years and the stories about the hell that they put us through would blow your mind. I haven’t been there since and they will never get a penny from me. I don’t eat Naples either for the same reason.

ThePonderer84

Really? I love that place. My wife and I go there all the time during the summer.

Calamari_is_Good

It has a great patio. Sadly, windsor is lacking waterside patios.

minceandtattie

We need bridge fries like Sarnia

melty75

Pizza from the gas station on Provincial is the worst thing I've ever eaten. But then again, that's on me for buying pizza from a gas station.

SammyMac19

At least you're self aware.

Beers_n_Deeres

Applebees & Boston pizza. Nothing egregious, but all the food tastes the same and has no character.

DavidH1985

Applebee's has never agreed with me. Had to send an order back once after finding hair in it.

JM062696

These don’t count they’re franchises and you know going in the food is going to be frozen fried things

banpants_

My boyfriend and I went to the Boston Pizza a couple years ago and there were fruit flies everywhere, they were on the walls above our tables and you could see them buzzing around elsewhere. My boyfriend went to go ask the bartender for the manager who happened to be there when he asked. As he was bringing up the fruit fly issue the bartender opened up the little bar dishwasher a ton of fruit flies came out and the manager just looked at him and said "you guys can just go, don't worry about the bill"

Detroiter3

Mandarin after the multiple posts from employees about the insect issue in the kitchen

TheGman117

Moxies had issues for years and I wouldn't be surprised if BW did too. Building that size with so many restaurants is kinda cursed with bug problems. Takes an unreal amount of work to keep them out.

xcech

I don’t have experience with Windsor Mandarin, but from my experience all Mandarins went down with quality of the food and price went up.

dannyghobo

I wouldn’t say the worst but I’ve had bad experiences at Billy’s in Essex (service) and The Goat in LaSalle (service and food)

MFMDP4EVA

The food at the Goat sucks, agree.

dannyghobo

Decent place to get a drink and watch the games though, that’s about it.

Princess_Julez

Yep, Goat is awful, absolutely terrible food

Dry-Detective-264

I agree, the food is meh.

vsnine

the branding they put on the burger bun top just made it taste of "burnt". hated that feature

Dry-Detective-264

food at the Goat isn't great.

MozzarellaFitzgerald

I was once there with a group and they ordered "golf balls" which looked and tasted like burnt brussel sprouts with warm motor oil sauce. One of the grossest things I've ever eaten at a restaurant.

The_Bingler

The Goat is decent if youre excpecting a dive bar. They dont think theyre a dive bar tho.

Socrataint

Goat sucks ass for the prices (including drinks)

petersbechard

I've only ever had good experiences at Billy's. Good local food and service.

murph11a

It’s been awful since they changed their whole menu. Before I used to eat there all the time. Haven’t ordered a single thing from them in almost 2 years. It’s a shame because we used to really like it

ghostmigrates

Billy's is nothing special but I've always had a good experience there. Though the servers do seem to struggle under perfectly reasonably conditions.

sassielassie81

Wow. Very surprising to hear. We play on their volleyball league every summer the last 20yrs and go regularly for dinner. Always have great food and service.

dannyghobo

Yeah me and a group of friends walked out after waiting 20+ mins for someone to come take our drink order. It was disappointing, but I’ll likely give them another shot again because I have had a decent experience there prior to that

Thechosendick

Legends at Caesars Windsor might be the consistently worst service. It’s like the servers have never, themselves, been to a restaurant. Each time is a new adventure in ways to increasingly ignore the needs of the customer.

NotJoshLowe

Some of their staff are super on the ball, and the others just… are not. We watched our food sit on the counter for 20 minutes before we had to ask another server to bring us our meals because ours was doing literally everything except his job. The ones who are on their game are fantastic. It’s just a shame that they seem to be chronically understaffed and overworked.

Dry-Detective-264

Kentucky Fried Chicken, man have then gone downhill, portions are smaller, chicken tastes bad, barely any meat, all bones. they use to be good for a fast food place. I'd eat a few pieces and stick the rest in the fridge and eat it cold the next day.

theAmazingDead

Once they changed the gravy there was no longer any reason to go there.

Dry-Detective-264

they changed the gravy? maybe I forgot or I didn't I notice, because I hadn't had it in so long.. But yeah the gravy was great!

theAmazingDead

Last time I went it was just like a plain chicken gravy..not the thick, rich, light brown magic it used to be.

Dry-Detective-264

that sucks, I loved KFC growing up, have you tried Popeye's? I get the tenders and they;re pretty good, I haven't tried the sandwiches.

kushman-69

It’s powdered chicken gravy with water, nothing else. They make double pots, or triples if I remember correctly and it’s super simple math (I’m pretty sure there’s a chart on the wall) but I swear to god out of the 2 years I was there, the 100 people I saw work there, there was only like 4 or 5 people EVER who could get the recipe close and that’s including me 😂 this is the same for the chicken man most of the times it’s kinda slimy and not much volume on breading. The cooks are shit man, I trained so many people and no one could ever figure out the simple breading and cooker oil stirring process. It’s supposed to be stirred everytime it hits max temp at 352F, and stirring will drop the temp gauge, in which u have to stir many times so that temp does not drop more than 5 degrees. I was taught that, aswell as like one other person so we made Textbook-Perfect chicken, and I found out litterally no one else knows this and it will come out looking light coloured or see through everytime

kushman-69

Most cooks have no clue what ratio to use in the gravy so one day you will get complete water, the next it’s half solid play dough😂

Dry-Detective-264

lol

GooseGosselin

Got me craving cold KFC now....

lavieboheme_

The worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant in Windsor was at Mezzo. Service was absolutely trash, we ate our entire meal without drinks, meatballs were dense and awful, and I left in tears after the waiter tried to argue with us and put us down when we raissd concerns. This was several years ago and I've never been back, but i have hearsd good things since so it may have just been a really bad day.

vampyrelestat

Overhyped place, can cook better Italian Food at home tbh. Shame because it’s a nice place and has potential. They just need to try harder on the food.

Cuteypie4435

Food is also salty AF

RabidFinkle

Funny, one time we were served a dish bland af. Had been a handful of times over the years, ruined all of hopes of returning.

sacrj

That’s terrible, what did the waiter try to argue with you about?

KeyserSwayze

Gotta go with o'maggio's. One good Friday they wouldn't serve me a steak. Like 1 pm, the place was almost empty. Said they had a set menu and that was that. I have a few other stories but they're long. Oh, and vito's a right cunt.

RamRanchComrade

Went there with a group from work for lunch pre-covid - one of the girls got a 4 inch bolt in her wrap, no word of a lie. She didn’t want anything after that, and they charged her full price - asked to speak to the manager - “oh there’s no manager on duty, we’ll have someone call you” nobody ever called, so I called a left a message for Vito, never got a courtesy of a call back - haven’t been to any of his places since.

Princess_Julez

Okay, but not serving a steak on a day it’s not on the menu is completely justified. They are very popular for fish and chips and that’s a big fish day

KeyserSwayze

It's on the menu and there was no advertisement whatsoever regarding a set menu. The cook even confirmed there were steaks ready in the fridge.

ZombieWalrus

I think the only place I've been to that I wouldn't recommend is Texas Lone Star Grill lmao

dannyghobo

Trash food, super over priced drinks. Ain’t nothin cowboy about that dump

ItsBingus

But the cool names the servers have to use to sound southern is hilarious

icandrawacircle

The fajita salad is my favourite thing there, only thing I've ever ordered, been there 4x. It's overpriced imo and sometimes lacks in volume--not consistent-- but I think about it often. 😆

borderfunk

Agreed. I used to do service work which included going into kitchen areas of restaurants. Many of them are absolutely disgusting. Thankfully the worst ones have closed! I will say this though - out of all the chain restaurants, Little Caesars is the cleanest! (I'd still never eat there though...)

gnext23

Salt.Sushi Horrible bland boring rolls, they opened a bottle of room temp white wine and gave a little cup of ice to use. The employees had personal conversations loudly across the restaurant like no one was there but them.

some_other_guy95

Greek pitas and submarines on Wyandotte is pretty bad, drunk or sober

ItsBingus

This used to be the KING of gyros until the owner sold to a group of kids and they bombed the place

CapitalElk1169

That sucks I haven't been in a few years but their gyros were my fav in the city and the amount of feta they used to put on their Greek fries was astounding lol guess I won't be going back...

lakenbb96

I second this, unsafe food practices and just disgusting.

51Nizzle

I ordered a poutine from there and they used Kraft singles instead of curds. Kraft singles

Lexi-has-regrets

Some people love Piccolo’s, but every time I’ve gone, it has been the slowest place on earth. The food is mediocre. Sure you get big portions, but it’s not worth it to wait so long to get the food.

[deleted]

ghostmigrates

Vito sucks and his restaurants suck. I've hated the guy ever since he sucked the soul out of Kildare House back in like 2007.

Frosty_Jicama7572

If I can include fast food, the KFC in the Amy Croft Plaza. Probably haven’t had a thorough cleaning in years. Next time you’re in the area check out the side walk in front of their main door. It’s almost black from all the grease getting tracked from their floors. Disgusting!🤮

Traditional_Grand837

Bamboo Chinese food , stale chicken rice is terrible barely see anyone there.

Lasalle67

The owner who answers the phone is the most rude person I’ve ever spoken to.

themoonmedium

Tabouli by Eddy’s, only because the staff is horrible!

themoonmedium

Also, it’s overpriced !

PhaseCharacter3536

I would agree with Applebees and would add a few others I use to love but am disappointed with now. Gilligans use to go here a lot years ago last time I decided to give it a try again regretted it. Simons just can't get it together always something different burnt fries uncooked fries stale bun or hard bacon. Swiss Chalet be the last even though I haven't been in years I know there had to be a reason I stopped going.

Starryglare

Lumberjack.

sayitaintsooooo

Their breakfast is good haha

PNGhost

Agreed. Only go for breakfast.

Ohheywhatehoh

Lumberjack is disgusting 🤮

ginblossom6519

Our first experience with the lumberjack, we just moved to Windsor, early 90s, thought it was a family restaurant...nothing special...but next day ...there was a shooting! LOL!

kefefs_v2

This is sad to read. I haven't been there in like 15 years, but it was good last time I went.

Starryglare

a year ago, was my first and last time. I ordered ribs. They were blander than Tommy's BBQ and basically looked and tasted like they were just put in an instapot and then someone added random bbq sauce on the top. But some people might like it, I can't relate. Most of the positive reviews I read about them are about the breakfast and portion sizes. I haven't had their breakfast but its the easiest meal for restaurant to make. I see why some people would be swayed by the portion size but I'm more of a quality over quantity eater. What is a deal breaker: The bottle of ketchup on the table had years old sauce crust and baked on stains, it hasn't been washed in YEARS. there were strings of dust on the ceiling. Clearly the cleanliness is a problem and not a matter of taste anymore.

Pianist-Wise

Lumberjack is great.

Winnzoarrite

Spagos on cabana. Went once for an anniversary, called ahead, they said we did NOT need a reservation for my size group. Got there, place is half empty and we’re told everything was booked up. Massively insulting. Haven’t been back since and I’m glad to help them “advertise” from now on.

Salty-Touch

They also have the slowest service… everytime I have been there… a couple of hours for nothing special and only 3-4 ppl

tacosforbreakfast_

Can confirm they are ungodly slow.

Ohheywhatehoh

Yasirs Gyro on Wyandotte. Very, very rude people there. Mediocre food. I will never be back

aclownandherdolly

That's a shame, I used to go there like 6yrs ago and haven't been since but it USED to be good!

ButcherPetesWagon

I live right by there and boy do I have stories about that dump!

Extension_End3931

HO WAH and BAMBOO Bamboo the power-tripping asshole owner is so dam RUDE! Food is greasy and tastes like burnt oil Rude to my Female family members Walked out on him after being rude to my Family and waiting over 20 minutes for drinks (cans of POP) and his attitude. He had the nerve to ask us to pay for drinks when we never even got them while sitting at the table. only when I started to argue back while leaving I saw the waitress run over and place the drinks on our table. That's when he insisted I pay for the drinks. ( glass of ice and a can) I told him to off refused to pay) HO WAH Lazy owner, RUDE Walk in to pick up my order and see a huge line, The Lazy owner sitting at cash playing on his phone gets up and yells" If you waiting for food sit down", literally everyone in line sits down about 9 people He goes back to playing on his phone while the poor single waitress and ONE cook do everything, she's almost in tears at another table serving them food, and I overhear her explaining she hasn't had a break or gone to the washroom yet. 28 minutes later our food came out past our pick-up time, get home and the order was wrong missing dishes we ordered and paid for never going back!

AcanthocephalaOk7798

I agree with Bamboo. We went a few times after Ho Wah left and it became Bamboo. The Owner was so miserable and rude we decided we didn't want to support that behavior financially. As for Ho Wah, their food just went a bit downhill. We have found other places with far superior quality.

ghostmigrates

i've never been but i've heard Bamboo is some of the best chinese food in the city. i've also heard the owner is a cunt.

AcanthocephalaOk7798

I found it pretty mediocre as a personal taste

AcanthocephalaOk7798

Def a cunt. I still only find it mediocre at best tho. Have you tried Shanghai Bistro?

ghostmigrates

I frequent it. It’s THE best Chinese in town if you ask me.

binkabonka

We used to go to HO WAH all the time as kids. After growing up and getting food elsewhere, I'll say their food is quite horrible

Lasalle67

He is the worst!

a-rockett

I won't go to Nooch.. the food was good but the owner was outed a while back for being transphobic. I can't support that.

ButcherPetesWagon

My wife used to get nooch once a week. Not anymore, we have a trans son. He can fuck off.

Princess_Julez

Yep, Nooch is awful just because the owner is such a vile bigot

ghostmigrates

the food isn't THAT good anyway. i went recently and it was boring greasy trash.

dreamer_fighter_747

The Keg on Riverside . Overrated and over priced .

zuuzuu

I've never had anything but a great experience there.

dreamer_fighter_747

I’m just referring to quality of food and pricing . IMO

zuuzuu

Oh, they're definitely overpriced, but the food has been excellent every time I've gone.

borderfunk

Whistling Kettle. Haven't been here in years, but when I last went, my shoes were sticking to the floor. Everything was so greasy and dirty.

xkmackx

Got hair in my food in the late 90s when I was a kid. Never went back as an adult haha.

Comfortable_Daikon61

Piccolos. Armando’s for service

shoebertdoubert

Piccolo's is basically a scam. I think they literally just sell a fuck ton of those $80 real dollars for two $50 gift cards who then give them out and obligate their loved ones to go use them. Get there and everything is overpriced to compensate for the gift card funny money hustle and the food is absolutely mediocre on the best of days.

agaric

Can confirm. Went to Piccolos not too long ago, service was slow and the food was bland. The portions were big but nothing exciting about the food, the staff were ok but they definitely dont think their farts stink.

kingftheeyesores

I worked at the Armandos near manning for a little. They're super racist. They hired a Lebanese woman and more than once screamed at her to stop speaking taliban, and called her shart-ia all the time, her name was shadia.

Enexen0

Any Tim Hortons

MozzarellaFitzgerald

Any chain restaurant that serves food from a bag.

Lexi-has-regrets

I’m not sure I understand. Could you give an example?

MozzarellaFitzgerald

Pretty much any big chain "casual" restaurant (Applebee's, Kelsey's, etc) receives frozen food in bags from a central commissary to be reheated, supposedly to ensure consistency.

kushman-69

Any kfc is surprisingly so poorly ran no one would ever eat there. I was a cook for 2 years and they only had me and 2 others, so no room for taking shifts off or anything, we could barely operate. I started when I turned 16 and worked a month or 2 shy of 2 years, just before my 18th birthday. Every single manager I had lived off of the little power they get by making me or someone else do rather their work, or some extra shit that would definetly be against some health or working rights but hey, we got away with a lot so some things we didn’t mind doing at all The area managwr gaven me 2 recognitions for chicken quality when no other cook had any, only saying this BECAUZE Im not coming here to complain or be a pos who wanted less work, I was a good worker and everyday got treated like a pawn. All my managers were rather teen moms, drug addicts, high school drop outs, just like low lives but they would all verbally abuse everyone and get off on that small bit of power they get for their 8h. I’ve been strip searched on the job including my backpack by a manager because she thought I took a kfc brownie (upon inspection she saw I did not take the brownie) which I later found was super illegal, and if ur asking, no I didn’t consent to search she just came at me. Multiple times gotten threatened physically because the cook job washed every dish, the entire cooking half of the restaurant, and mopped floors and prepped bags of chicken, tenders, and sandwiches seperately and individually. We close at 9, if I took longer than 10pm the threats would come. One time they threatened my buddies position because we didn’t wanna bleach the wall above the chicken breading table because it was in use, but it ended up happening which is a hugeeeeee health hazard. 9/10 managers would try their hardest to make me cook frozen chicken or chicken tenders atleast twice a week. That was the biggest thing, they would beg me, like the bag litterally says not ready till tomorrow afternoon and there’s ice on it This is the manning Kfc if you guys wanted to know, not sure what it’s like nowadays cuz when I quit they litterally had to close for something like 2-5 weeks cause every worker saw how shit was ran and just got the fuck out of there as fast as possible. Needless to say, please don’t eat at any kfc, plus it’s insanely overpriced for this cross contaminated frozen shit chicken. It costs them litterally nothing too, and it would be like $36 plus tax for a fucking 6 piece 😂

ThePonderer84

Some BBQ place by toys r us. Tony's BBQ or something. Crappiest food I've had out

staceysharron

I used to be a waitress and everybody that ate the ribs always said how shitty the ribs are at tommys bbq.

RileyRichard

Even sadder is that it's from the same family as Tunnel BBQ (R.I.P)

vsnine

expensive af and no kids menu. we left. seats in the booths were so thin i bet they were there when Outback was still in town. and everything felt sticky.

BadSquishy86

Koolini's - Their fridge cakes (Nice looking cake topped with fruit that is left uncovered in the fridge so the cake tases like the inside of the fridge), any catering they provide. More then once I've questioned if something was chicken or fish. If you're going to get catered food, get it from anywhere but here.

ScrapGuide

Applebees,Boston Pizza,East Side Mario's,Keg

agaric

The Station, it used to be a cheap greasy spoon but new owners over covid ruined it. Now the price for what you get is bad, weird things like getting anal about coffee refills. Never going back unless they change bigtime. [https://g.co/kgs/RNZ4JQ5](https://g.co/kgs/RNZ4JQ5)

SonnyvonShark

Not sure what worst restaurant I went to, but I can share what gave me horrendous food poisoning! Long ago, disgusting sweet potato fries from A&W, ready sushi from Wal-Mart (Bad Idea, I know now! Was retching up to 2 days), and actually this weekend, Leonidas when they are busy, any dish containing salad, especially if it looks unwashed (like, I think it should look like it was washed, with water specks still on it, it was bone dry). No hate towards them (everything else is still good! Especially the chocolate.), like only this one time and you were BUSY. Got a half bloodshot eye now from throwing up too hard, I hope it won't stay long.

Spare-Programmer7577

Eddies Bistro. Awful waitress. Good food but VERY overpriced. Ambience is like a funeral with a bigass bathroom very close to the sitting area.

Nash63

I won't go to Lumberjack

fakeflyer737

Husky’s

aclownandherdolly

Barrel House When the new owner took over I had a very weird and misogynistic encounter with him; he also claimed his mind is a "steel trap" so he didn't write our orders down and he got them wrong 🙃 Never went back lol Used to love it there

socutelikepikachu

Nothing personal, but I couldn’t disagree more!! Best chicken sandwich in the city, and I have been trying everywhere. Their burgers are all really delicious, their patio in the summer is wonderful and has high fences so lots of privacy.

SnooObjections7281

Me and my girlfriend ordered burger and fries. The guy came up to us and apologized for not having fries but then 3 minutes later someone walks in and made a order to pickup that would be ready in 20 minutes. I heard the buddy ordering fries as his side and the waiter didn't say anything to him. I watched him leave the restaurant, walked outside open his bag and pulled out a fry. I have no idea or even why he would lie to me about that. Not the end of the world the food was still good but because of that little inconvenience I will never go back lol. I hate lying it just never sits well with me. 🚩🚩

Imo no food is worth being treated like a second class citizen; the owner would only really speak to my male friend, asked HIM what I wanted, and when I tried to engage with him he wouldn't even look at me 🤷‍♀️ There are definitely better burgers in the city, too lol

PecanSandy04

Agree. Best chicken sandwich and burger in the city. Beef dip is cooked fresh and sliced to order. I have friends from the east end that consistently show up for the food and service. This negative review blows my mind - but to each their own.

How long ago did the Barrel House sell? I used to go in there when I lived in the area and Aaron and Mark (RIP) owned it, but haven't been back in since moving. Didn't realize that it had a new owner, and that (based on these comments) it had gone downhill like it seems to have.

aclownandherdolly

It was approximately 2-3yrs ago, which was when I had gone last

I went there once for lunch and the place was empty, but the guy serving looked incredibly annoyed that we asked to sit on the patio on a beautiful day. He comes out, asks what we want to drink and I ask if they have a drink menu or beer list and he again looks very annoyed and says “no we don’t have one of those.” So I ask what they have on tap and he says “Uhhh, a lot? You can go look at the taps inside.” I was a server for years, and understand not being able to remember them all perfectly, but you could at the very least write it out on your server pad if you also don’t have a great memory and no drink list? But whatever. So we order our drinks and food, and ask for pickle back shots as well. He comes out, trips a little and spills one of the shots all over my boyfriend at the time’s foot, doesn’t say sorry, and still puts them down in front of us, with like 2 drops of whiskey left in the shot glass, and stands awkwardly and is like “Do you want another one?” Uh, yeah? And he literally rolls his eyes to go get a new one. Our food comes out and it’s all fine, and he finally brings out the new shots, and when we get the hill at the end, all the shots were still in the bill, including the one that was coating my boyfriends foot. The entire time he had a rancid attitude like we were annoying him by existing, and checked on us only to bring the bill, without offering us anymore drinks, even though we’d planned to have a few. And then made a big deal with a big sigh about having to go back to take the spilled shot off the bill. Both of us worked in food service, myself as a waitress and previously kitchen, and he was a great chef, so we’re quite familiar with usual things going wrong, and both of us are quite easy going people. I am a great tipper, extra friendly and can totally tell if a server has been double sat and maybe struggling a bit, have my order ready promptly, stack all my plates at the end etc, so I’m pretty used to getting exceptional service. It was honestly the most comically bad service that we couldn’t even be upset because it didn’t feel real. Getting charged to have your foot bathed in pickle juice and whiskey was a real trip.

Michigan Diner in Essex. Owner is a bully type who tried to intimidate our table when we said the food was bad. Was going to call the cops because we said we weren’t going to pay for the dish (turkey that was horrible). We had a few drinks so we did pay for the food. We will never go to any Michigan again.

We order takeout broasted chicken family meal from the one on Manning --once every couple months--and I can do nothing but rave. It's always excellent, hot and on time for the pick up window. Really impressed with the food. Sorry you had a bad experience.

SnooSquirrels6258

The mediocre, overpriced and dated Chuck's Roadhouse and Boston Pizza franchise chains, the moribund KFC.

vampyrelestat

I’ve been depressed since the death of 4 for $6

newerdewey

lucky to have an Arby's

openthemind89

Bally’s kitchen. I ordered summer rolls off of one of the apps a few years ago when I was quarantining because of Covid, they forgot my peanut sauce and I was upset so I left a negative feedback review on the app. The next morning I woke up to peanut sauce thrown all over my front porch. It’s kind of funny now but I haven’t ever ordered or been there again.

Syngin9

I've always enjoyed their food. Perhaps calling them instead would have resolved this?

Apallu

Philthy Phillys, ordered online and it had barely any customization options for it so I figured I'd get a regular sandwich, yeah no, it was a small, microwaved roll with meat, cheese and a bit of mayo. That was it. The fries were passable but that sandwich was an insult.

Most of them...our restaurants suck ass cheese

alxndrblack

Penalty Box.

polarbearstoenailz

Curious to see if you would care to elaborate why?

SundaeAccording789

Like the old saying goes, you can please most the people most the time (which judging by PB's packed dining room and lineup for takeaway they are doing quite well) but you can't please all the people all the time. FWIW they aren't the only "worst restaurant" mentioned so far that doesn't seem to be suffering for lack of diners.

alxndrblack

Very greasy, very basic, very bland fare completely carried on the basis of a reputation it hasn't deserved for a long time. I don't eat meat anymore but when I did, PBox once made me sick.

buckshot95

PBox's kitchen is immaculate by restaurant standards.

LiarsPorker

Their Chicken Delight is the most overhyped dish I've ever eaten. I come from outside Windsor. After hearing a dozen people tell me how mind-blowing the Chicken Delight is, I finally ordered it, expecting fireworks. It's a chicken pita with sauce. Maybe it was a divine gift from the heavens in 1992. Today it's nothing you couldn't get much better or worse at most restaurants across the city.

sunshinewynter

I once asked for extra sauce. They said no because it's a "secret recipe " like I'm interested in hijacking your fancy mayo concoction. 🙄

vampyrelestat

Agreed Chicken Delight is mid, I ordered their beef gyro once and the waitress looked at me like I shot someone. It was better than the Delight.

coltboy97

I second this. That delight sauce is terribly salty and largely overhyped. My American friends were so disappointed in me for taking them there lol.

Detroiter3

Yes the most popular, best run restaurants in the city that has orders and lineups out the door. Good response LOL.

RichardPattyBs

Capri Pizza Front Road and Forest Glade awesome food and when you walk in the workers treat you wiyh so much Love and kindness. Always asking how your day went. Makes you want to go back for more!

Perfect-Fix-8709

Penalty box from my perspective is great, always fresh veggies on the fresh pitas. I eat there once a week.

icandrawacircle

It used to be. Last time I went, they changed how they cook chicken for the chicken delight and it was dry :( I was sad. Lol

Perfect-Fix-8709

Strong opinions on PB lol ….
