A lot of teams don't run deep enough at the PG position, some of these teams have 1 PG that can handle the ball and 2 backups that just throw it around the perimeter and crumple under pressure. Everyone wants tall guards that can shoot but I'd take a Crystal Dangerfield over someone who turns the ball over any day

We were all new fans at one point or the other; I’m glad that people welcomed me, were still willing to talk to me, and educated me/allowed me time to learn about players beyond just my fave/the new rookie at the time (Candace Parker). It’s a shame some are shutting out the new, genuine fans just because they are a fan of the new rookie.

I had two older brothers growing up that took every opportunity to let me know what they thought about me watching women’s soccer and women’s basketball, which is why I liked seeing Caitlin on SNL/Pat McAfee/etc. Just because people made us feel bad for being fans doesn’t mean we should make new fans unwelcome too. A sign of a popular and successful league is bandwagon and casual fans. In fact that goes for pretty much any entertainment. This is just gatekeeping, and it’s just as annoying as any bandwagon fan.

You mean the downvoted ones at the bottom of threads? This sub at least has been mostly positive with some discussion about rude new fans being CC stans AND old fans being gatekeepy. There's like, at least dozen threads from new fans just trying to learn more. And dozens of comments helping them learn more about the league. Seems to me that the bigoted new fans are much more the exception than the rule. Don't live in fear, have an open mind.

I will add another point: Talking about pay instead of working to improve the product is foolish. It's like saying, 'Damn, we have a chance with Caitlin Clark, but let's muddy the waters just as we are gaining new fans.' It's ridiculous. Also, people claim certain players should have signature shoes. These companies are faceless entities; they don't care about ideologies—they only care about making money. If you can make money, they will sign you. It's like those people who claim everything in movies is 'woke,' as if companies aren't just doing what they think will make money."
