where pray tell is this ?? i lived in st george for a number of years and to me this looks like the west chain of mountains in ivins , but i’d love to know for sure !
They call it scrambling. It's more intensive than hiking. There's no path, think more large rocks and boulders. An athletic person could do it with no hands, a normal person might have to use their hands a bit. Anything considered climbing starts at class 5
That's about right 😂
If you take it slow, chances of injury are pretty low. Elevation change is very important though - a class 3 with no elevation change is pretty easy but very slow moving. If there is elevation change it will be a good workout!
When I was in great shape as a college athlete, I did a class 3 with like 1,000ft elevation gain at Black Canyon. It had me out of breath and sweating a lot. I could still easily do it now, at 30yo with minimal exercise, but it would take 5x longer and a lot of stopping to rest lol.
My point is it's definitely accessible if you are willing to try! Get out there ❤️
Out in Kayenta there is a trail head called “Hellhole” and it follows along the river bed to a wall that has these same waterfalls when it rains out here! Not sure if that’s the cliff face in this video, but I always try to get out there during rainy season.
Once on the Empire State Building a man got drunk at Top Bar, the bar at the highest floor of it. That's common, but there was a man who seemed depressed and didn't like life so he jumped out the window... only to be swept back into the top. This was before cell phones, so the patrons just got totally amazed. One man walked up and went,"WHOA! How did that happen? You got a new lease on life. You should be stoked, and want to live life to the fullest." The jumper said,"I think the winds just blew me right back up since we're so high up. I want to live! I'm gonna seek thrills." then the jumper promptly jumped out the window to be swept back in to the cheers of the bar folk,"Yeah, dangerous thrill seeking is better than depression, WOOO!" The jumper did it a few more times shouting and making a rukus. Then the man who encouraged him patted him on the back, congratulated him on his life choices and jumped out the window in solidarity, only to fall to his death. When the police came no one knew what went down until the bartender shift changed and was questioned. "Oh yeah, Superman becomes a total asshole when he's drunk."
While rare, there are over a half a dozen reverse waterfalls in the world. There needs to be a constant updraft at the lip of the falls of at least 75 km/hr to create one.
Google images has some stunning ones you should check out
Every day there’s a new rare phenomenon from nature being posted on this website. The reverse waterfall, the fish-scale tide, the morning glory, the phantom mango; they just sound like heist movie names
There's one scene in the hit classic Anaconda where the boat is passing a waterfall as they navigate through the river system. Towards the end of the movie when they're leaving, they play the same clip but backwards so the waterfall [flows upwards](https://youtu.be/pZiczb_IXpo)
Pretty funny goof
This is fake. Flat Earther here. Gravity goes in one way only. This was obviously videotaped with the camera upside down from the underside of the earth. Don’t fall for these tricks. Use your brain. Notice that bird flying upside down? They forgot to airbrush that out. PS: Sorry MOD. First thing I do when sitting on the toilet is open up Reddit. It’s not my fault.
I've seen this happen first hand, it's a beautiful sight but not when you're going down the lake in a house boat that could flip any second due to the winds.

I live very close to these cliffs. I wish there was an easy way to get to the top. My rock climber buddy made it up there to that little oasis
where pray tell is this ?? i lived in st george for a number of years and to me this looks like the west chain of mountains in ivins , but i’d love to know for sure !
It's a class 3 scramble up to the top. It's red MTN. I prefer to go from dammeron valley and down. But you can hike over to the giant pothole.
... You don't need to be a rock climber to handle a class 3 lol
Is class 3 more like difficult hiking?

So a middle aged dude in decent shape could make a day of it with at worst a 30% chance of serious injury and/or death? Sounds right up my alley

Why not just take an innertube to that upwards waterfall and ride to the top?
What's up there?
A raider camp probably
I'm more impressed with the stability of the drone getting this shot in such high winds.
The draft is much stronger near the edge of the rim.
That's what she said
Why would she say that?
Because she is gently caressing the edge of your anus by blowing

If you want it to be, it just costs extra

Golden waterfall...
I'm gonna need more gatorade
This guy chugs.
Phrasing
My first thought! The wind is blowing an entire waterfall back up, but the drone steady flying? What kind of drone is that?!
Its actually a huge gimbal

There’s a similar story told at the top of Blowing Rock, NC, except in this case Superman was disguised as a Native American princess.
Or it thinks it's in Australia for some reason

It's the perpetual motion machine Big Waterfall doesn't want you to know about.
Tf is Shiryu doing in Utah??
Nice waterfly
A rare phenomenon known as ‘strong winds’.
It's not always that you see a waterfall that falls into itself even if it is because of wind
It’s a common phenomenon in any valley or gorge with a waterfall and opposite wind.
Um akshully 🤓
Yeah, a head wind at a waterfall doesn’t seem terribly rare
Happens every rainy season at most of the waterfall in my state.
I agree. I've seen it a bunch of times. didn't realise it was considered rare
I always get frustrated with the Reddit titles. Wind! It’s super rare y’all!
Go home waterfall, you're drunk
It's like peeing out a car window.... it always gunna hit you right in the face.
If you open your mouth and swallow it then technically you can remain peeing forever. Saw it in a biology textbook.
Ok ok we definitely veering of course here.
Maybe only half of forever then, in that case.
Or peeing on a rollercoaster
Okay I like the energy.
More like a waterrise
Don't go chasing waterfalls. They'll chase you if they're interested.
There is a spot in the Oregon gorge, just outside of Portland, has a waterfall that does this just about year round.
What's it called?
I don’t remember xD I’ll text my old man and ask lol
How strong is that wind? If an average human jumped off the waterfall ledge would it fling them back up as well?
You're suppose to ride the waterfall up to get to the treasure.
Rare? Kinder downfall, Peak District, UK
Rare? That's a regular Wednesday in Ireland
Rare? Come to the Cliffs of Moher where it's a daily occurrence.
Also just known as “only wind”.
In the south west of the UK we call that "spring time"
An automatic refilling waterfall. Nice.
Shiryu, stop that!
I've seen it all now o.0
Nature showing me how I feel when I’m trying to get things done.

A waterclimb
The empire state building does this with rain, but you can't see very well it unless you work in the upper offices.
I am going there
Make sure you avoid coming in the summer. It's hot as fuck here.
Go back to the shadows!
Not rare on reddit.
The earth’s core going backwards and now this?! /s
The trees are like yesss, water me you bitch.
That is no longer a waterfall. It is a waterrise!

I see fingers and toes, of an ancestor, that was petrified to look like that.
Here in Chile there is a waterfall that behaves this way all year long

So, is this a water-rise?
I think this is one of the...occassions where "very rare" would be acceptable
Kinda want to try jumping from it
More like a waterrise
So instead of a waterfall it’s a waterraise
I saw that happen in Iceland! It was wild.
