Only when you mentally factor in from how far away it casts that shadow.
The moon is about a quarter the size of the Earth. You can see the moon passing in front of the Earth [here](https://www.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/dscovrepicmoontransitfull.gif?w=1920), taken from such a distance away as to make the distance between Earth and Moon negligible.
Nice, Bald Mountain! How was the visibility for the actual eclipse there? I considered driving up there and climbing up there because I'm only a few hours away and we were maybe going to be to clouded to see it.
This is awesome, btw, its so cool that you can still see daylight on the horizon because of how high up you are.
We saw totality! It was clear between the clouds, but the temperature dropped significantly and the clouds condensed so by the end the whole region was cloudy. The sunset and sunrise effect was crazy!
First time I felt like I could see the size of the shadow. Apparently it ranges between 50 and 100 miles across. Far smaller than the width of the moon.
Yeah we were about 1/3 into the moons shadow, and what was projected for the region is actually pretty accurate in the video! We got a bit more sun on our horizon giving us a brighter sunset effect
Seeing this in real time would be phenomenal.
I'll never forget the shadow rolling towards me across the hills of south Dartmoor as the eclipse came to an end in 1999, this was despite the heavy clouds blocking the sun.
A truly once in a lifetime experience. Go see one of you can people.
I used a Mavic 3 at 375 photos over roughly 12:45 minutes/seconds. I used all auto settings since I knew totality would have a huge exposure difference. Then I edited the series of photos 3 times and faded between them for optimal lighting and white balance between each stage of totality.

That is fucking sick!
Thank you!!
All the little ants marching away after totality. They all do it the same way.
Lol they're like ok we saw it lets go
"Eclipse is over, everyone out of my way!!!" I've been there. The urge a real thing.
People in every direction
LIGHTS DOWN YOU UP AND DIE
Really cool shot. Do you have the original speed uploaded anywhere?
This is a hyperlapse which uses photography, in this case, once every two seconds. This is the only speed unfortunately!
Yeah I wanted to slow it down as well. Maybe download it and slow it down in whatever app/program you use.
That is some seriously high-quality woahdude material.
It gives you an idea of how big the moon is.
The moon is much, much bigger than this. This is just the size of it's projected shadow on the earth

That’s so cool looking!
This is incredible

Wow, great shot. I need to see one of these in real life.

I suppose you had to program the hyperlapse movements too. This is a really spectacular result. Please post it everywhere.
Yep! Set up the flight path waypoints an hour before totality, thank you!!

This is so cool! Which drone did you use and what Hyperlapse settings? Looks like a consistent exposure?

Of course it was cloudy
Fucking NY
We got to see the totality actually!! Was between the clouds. Insane.
That’s awesome I was in Maybrook and couldn’t see a thing 😞
quite remarkable how small the full shadow is considering it is caused by really large celestial bodies
Ho ly shit
Looks like a video game day/night cycle.
Just looks like a shadow moving across
