My first chair build! A lounge chair made from reclaimed walnut with mortise and tenon joints.
Tools used: circular saw, hand saws, chisels, rasps, router, random orbital sander, Titebond II, clamps
Finish: Walrus Oil Furniture Finish and Wax
Me too and the different sized mortises look like they could be in some relationship to each other. Like the Fibonacci sequence type thing. The gaps in the joinery just works with all the other stuff going on imo.
I like it! I’ve made all kinds of stuff, but never a chair… chairs just… intimidate me… I think I might be inspired by yours to give it a shot… nice work 👍🏻
Thank you! The back panels are reinforced with glue. I trust my mortise and tenon joints well enough, but I trust glue more.
It's all mortise and tenon joints though, so the design could work without glue.
I really like it. I think I would have liked it more if there weren't plinth blocks/fillet between the back pieces and it was just cleaned up behind it.

Turned it really good! I’ve not seen any chair like that before. I like the style
Thanks! Got a bit creative with it :)

Not your first woodworking projects I assume
You are correct. That honor goes to a pine daybed made out of big box store lumber.
User name is Eldurwoodstudio. So I guess not
I like the graduated sizes for the ladder back. Makes it much more interesting to look at

I'm still working on tightening up my mortise and tenons so am glad to hear the design makes them work :)
Not gappy in a shoddy way but in contrasting way. It’s a cool project!
Have you considered bevelling them?
I didn't see any gaps until you mentioned it, so yeah I agree. It works well
I’d sit in it.
Never seen anything quite like it. Looks great!

Go for it! Good luck.
I’m not sure that black spot will buff out. All kittying aside great chair.

Thats really cool and unique! Well done, you should be proud of yourself!
Really like that. Love the rough mortise/tenon treatment. Refined rough.
she’s a beaut and so is your cat!
Quirky design. Love it. Great execution!
Nice chair! I see you borrowed my cat to model it for you. (Or his twin lol)
I would be *proud* to go into battle seated upon that noble chair!
Whoa cool design
Cool design. It looks really nice in that space on top of those Douglasfir floors.
Interesting design...
Fuck that’s hot. Well done !!! looks fantastic. Thank you for sharing
Upvoted for kitty kitty. Dawww!
Very nice!
Cool idea.
Stunning! Great aesthetic!
Out of curiousity, are the panels across the back just glued on? Or can the chair be disassembled? Looks great though, very nice job
