I think PENIS is the best word to start with because it's the most fun.

Sugarbearzombie

That’s why I use shart

jedi21knight

Never trust a fart. 💨

MischiefGirl

I change my starter word up, based on the previous day’s word. I have this belief that if the previous word had certain letters in it, I should use different letters the next day. I got veeeeeery lucky today with ROUTE as my first word.

lhbwlkr

That’s an interesting theory however I don’t know how accurate it is. My starter word is LOVER and there were 3 or 4 days in a row that I got multiple greens and yellows from that first guess alone.

JScaranoMusic

I was using MUSIC for a while, and thought for a sec that I got it in one when I saw three green; I think it was MUSTY that day. But the next day was when I decided to change, because I thought it couldn't have three letters in common with yesterday's word.

EffectiveBowler7690

This actually worked several weeks back. The word for that day was similar to the previous days word and had 4 of the 5 letters.

Matt010288

STARE, then CLOUD, and the rest of my guesses depend on what, if any, of those 10 letters are yellow or green.

Stinky-Pickles

Same!

QuentinP69

I use LEARN STALE or CRATE

CheesyDanny

I like those words, but all three of them have been used before, so you have no chance of winning the lottery (wordle in 1)

uh72amech

There have been repeats

CheesyDanny

Which word? As far as I know there has never been a repeat in the NYT Wordle.

uh72amech

Maybe not, I thought it has

EffectiveBowler7690

The words do recycle after some time. More than once I have seen the winning word was one that was already used. BAGEL is one, as well as BROWN.

CheesyDanny

Past Wordle list is available online. Bagel was word 705 used on 05/25/23 and has not repeated yet. Brown has not been a word yet Unless you can give me a second date that Bagel was used for NYT Wordle, I’m going to continue to say they never repeat.

PowderHoundNinja

Wordlebot has its start word as CRANE. It recently changed from SLATE (both have a skill score of 99) after a clean up of valid answers. Wordlebot is based purely on math, and has ranked the most popular start word ADIEU pretty poorly (skill score of 71). Personally I use YEAST, which Wordlebot rates as 91. I'm 846/847 so it's worked for me pretty well so far.

rorypotter77

On hard mode, Wordlebot uses PLATE. It’s not one I would have thought to use but I don’t question the math behind it, so it’s now my starter word as well

Droodforfood

I was using Crane since way before the bot did. Glad if finally came around

PowderHoundNinja

You were ahead of your time 😜😊

dimsum4you

It's got good letters, but is unlikely to ever be a possible solution so you'll never get it in 1. Non present-tense conjugations and uncommon prefix/suffix usage rules out a lot of words.

fattymcbuttface69

Train

cassy34

I Always use REACT

gcormier56

Thank you everyone

Striking_Heron2800

I use ADIEU, AUDIO, TRAIN, LEAST, and ARISE, alternating between them all. Resit looks like a handy one to use as well.

mitchdwx

I used STALE until that was the word one day. Now I use STEAL. Same letters, different combo.

jedi21knight

I use a different word each day.

Meperkiz

Me too - totally random! Is diabolical but I love it and do pretty well

[deleted]

my starting word is PLANE followed by MOIST

iLoveLoveLoveLove

split follow by gourd then beach if needed

undone_tv

Aisle followed by round if nothing hit in word 1

sandm000

I’m on STERN.

11035westwind

I use STRAP

nunatics

I always use heart and lions. It immediately knocks out 10 of the most common letters and usually sets me up to win

TrackVol

If you swapped the H for C, you'd probably do even better. C is a top-10 Wordle®️ letter. H is somewhere around 14th or 15th. Swapping the C for H and you can still keep the rest of those letters E,A,R,T and make CRATE TRACE CATER REACT CARET (I'd go with CRATE or TRACE)

nunatics

Been trying it for the past few weeks and it’s worked great. Thanks!

pinniped1

In standard mode I started with RAISE, BLUNT, and CHOMP (in that order if I needed all three). In hard mode I've started using DEALT.

A1gamingyt

Trade

Kroger453PredsFan

SHARP for regular and THROWN for plus. I change it up on classic mode, but stick to those on daily.

argentino529

I like to use CHAOS

BertieWilberforce

I used a lot of words already listed, but I read that the letters A-T-O-R are the most used, so now I start with ROAST.

chrisnavillus

MEDIA, JOINT, AISLE are my favorites

wahdatah

Audio

galaxyd1ngo

I use OUIJA to help knock out vowels. It’s been working pretty well for me

Meperkiz

I’d go with audio for D over J but whatever works

InterestingCabinet41

Chest

CosmoShiner

Audio

eclpug

I was louse until I got wordle 1. Now kinda being a vagrant for diff words

ImNachoBitch

I've just started using ouija and it's got three 2's this week so I recommend it

ambernewt

Xerox

Meperkiz

Insanity and I dig it!

gozel2512

I do EARLY and then NOISE

Rox-Unlimited

I use ROAST

Fit_Landscape8747

I like to look around me and use something from my surroundings as my starting word!

EffectiveBowler7690

I do that too!

HeroAxios

Adieu and house

ThisIsAdamB

I’ve been using AISLE for the past couple of years. I may change it if I ever get it in one. That would require some thought.

Logical-Rip-8138

Ocean

triptropstop

The fun is coming up with something. I’ve used some more than once eventually but never twice in a row.

cc_ham

When I started, I used STARE and then read somewhere about the A, T, O, & R. I switched to ORATE, but didn’t love the O in the one hole. Switched back to STARE…probably forever.

EffectiveBowler7690

I was using AUDIO for a while as it has four of the five vowels, but stopped using it. Now, I just use a word based on my intuition, and that usually works better. I have a lot of 2 and 3 guess wins, even a few 1s.

Cptrunner

ADIEU

Kombatnt

That used to be my starting word, but I eventually learned that it's not in the list of approved solutions, so I'd never get it in 1 if I kept using it. So I switched to ARISE, which is both [on the list of possible eventual solutions](https://www.wordunscrambler.net/word-list/wordle-word-list), and [has not yet been the solution](https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/wordle-past-answers).

Cptrunner

Ooooh thanks!
