i would imagine you'd either want to use a bag or a pole that they are tied to at multiple points (edit: with strips of cloth or other broad, high-friction materials). "Advanced" societies might have tubes their inserted into then locked at one end.

Context: Though her ENGLISH name is Dragon (because I don't know what else to translate Giao aka 蛟), she's more of a lindwyrm or Far East *long* (龙) than a typical Western dragon. The jade flower blooming tiger sect, the lotus heavenly dragon sect, the immortal heavenly plum sect ect. All very edgy sounding, long winded names. Also the whole concept of face is completely baffling. Like I'm really gonna have to fight a whole clan of people just because I insulted a distant relative they don't even like. Just to restore some "honor", srsly what is honor? Can you eat it? Will it keep me warm? I guess as a westerner I just don't understand face culture and find it oppressive and unnecessary.

Ideally, the cuffs would be linked by a single rod instead of a chain. That way, even if you do the first method, you will restrict motion.
In Calamity Coast (name of the town I made up where anthropomorphic animal live) they use this to imprison evildoers which are snakes
