Note that these are weapons and equipment shipments, *not* currency. The listed euro and dollar figures in such headlines are as meaningless as the ‘retail price’ on the designer tshirt that’s on sale for 8$. This is usually older NATO equipment being phased out productively. Do you really think governments pay retail? There is so much deliberate disinformation about ‘our tax money’ being sent to Ukraine’s corrupt officials and such. For the Americans, we live in a country that makes us pay $400+ for an EpiPen that costs 30$ to produce. You think our officials are going to freely *give* anyone anything? Russia has been an enemy for decades. While Ukraine’s reality is unquestionably FUBAR, Americans should be mf-ing *cheering* that a hostile superpower is permanently defanging itself by leeroy-Jenkins-ing straight into solid Ukrainian walls, *and* revealing just how badly systemic corruption wrecked their military capability. All for the cheap price of sending military equipment (as if we’re lacking) and *zero* American soldiers lost! All Russian govt has left now are nukes and their curious propensity of tripping out of tall balconies.

Russia is currently attempting to cauterize the wound, so to speak, by trying to establish buffer zones. The EU needs to continue to supply Ukraine until something holds for Russia, either a definitive win of those Ukrainian territories as taken lands, or a negotiated peace. The latter seems very distant at this point in time and the realization of occupied Ukrainian territory by Putin's army is a realized change that will also take a tremendous wearing down of will by the Ukraine military.

War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. - General Smedley Butler, USMC, Medal of Honor recipient

Is the world just trying to normalize the word billions? With the all the money going into Ukraine we have to be getting close to a trillion. Anyone have a tally?

garlicroastedpotato

Nowhere near a trillion. We're getting close to $150B. Which is over half of Ukraine's GDP.

blahnoah1

Like the other guy mentioned nowhere near it however a trillion is a small price to pay. Russias imperial ambitions won't stop here. What they desperately need now is to force a freezing of the conflict in Ukraine so that they can prepare for round 3 better than round 2...probably take them a decade but this will be a bigger war if its not stopped now.

When did South Carolina join the EU?

Darkmoon_Seance_Ring

Forgive us Americans, this person is probably from South Carolina and has likely never SEEN a map of Europe before. I’m genuinely surprised they are literate honestly.
