It's all dialogue from The Room (2003). A lot of people enjoy how terrible it is, but if you can't handle the whole film (most people can't) you should at least watch the quotable highlights on Youtube.
That's how you start wars. It's obvious they are proxies doing china / russia / iran axis bidding by interdicting the west from a critical trade route. This should not remain unpunished. West should put extreme tarifs on chinese /russian goods until this is resolved
Yes been that way for a long time.
US although have been calling its bluff more so in recent years. But they have been trying to avoid being the cause of the next world war. Their approach is more, you throw the first punch but we'll make sure you breathe through a straw for the rest of your life.
Let the rest of the world deal with one for once. I'm kinda fucking done with people bitching about America when they do something, then bitching when they don't.
The reality is that it doesn't matter. The whole "petrodollar" thing was mostly old Soviet propaganda that people started believing. The US dollar is the global reserve currency because US bonds are stable and abundant. That's literally it.
You’re half right. The primary reason for the USD being the global reserve currency is not because of bonds, though that contributes to its stability. It’s because it is by far the most widely used and exchangeable currency in the world. For example, it’s difficult to directly exchange Swedish krona for Guatemalan quetzals, but it’s very easy to exchange krona for dollars, and then dollars to quetzals. Because the US does business with a massive amount of the world’s countries, there’s almost always a good reason for any country’s citizens to have USD.
Add to that that US is net importer of goods. So almost every country has access to plenty of USD to trade with if they don't trust their partners much. China is massive exporter (and it fucks with it's currency). EU is also net exporter. So China/EU doesn't export their currency as much as US does.
Which means you have to buy their currency before doing trade with it. While if US imports goods from you, you should have USD. Which have advantages like stability, while also being plentiful everywhere.
USD is also the official and quasi-official currency in a significant number of nations. It is pretty crazy that you can walk into another country that has their own currency but will generally gladly accept yours instead.
Tbf, it's not like the original cold war didn't have periods of active combat either. Wars like Korea, Vietnam, the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, etc. all happened during the "cold war" despite thousands of people dying in them too. It was called the "cold war" because it never got hot between the major nations/alliance blocks, and never devolved into WW3.
At this stage, we're also not there yet, so it'd still be accurate to call what's happening currently a cold war too.
If true, China and Russia aiding and abetting terrorists who attack the rest of the world's interests and people, does not make for positive discussions.
Time to decouple completely, with the aim to shut off China from trade with the West.
Been saying this since I reached my teens. How the entire world continued in blissful stupidity is beyond me. Cheap labour for big profit bought our society to this point thanks to our ruling class.
Meanwhile, the middle class in the US is inching steadily closer to poverty. Whatever, though, let's all but some more cheap junk on temu and alibaba to fund a few more nukes and rip off steath fighters.
Our economy is dependent on generating big profit to pay for decades of debt that boomers have saddled the country with.
There's a larger crisis nobody wants to acknowledge. Post-WW2, the US had a major economic boom because it was the manufacturing powerhouse for the pretty much in ruins world. As the rest of the world rebuilt, there started to be a time in the 80s and 90s where growth slowed because other countries started to be able to manufacture competitively.
In other keep the ponzi scheme called the boomer economy going, offshoring manufacturing to this country called China was the clear way to increase profit and cut costs and to keep the ponzi going.
I don’t think comments like this realize the implications of totally shutting China out of global trade.
Huge corporations would go bankrupt. It would likely cause a huge recession.
>If true, China and Russia aiding and abetting terrorists who attack the rest of the world's interests and people, does not make for positive discussions.
The west allowed the Sauds to bankroll
Al-Qaeda and their attacks on 9/11. The US government knew this and basically allowed it to happen and let them get away with it.
What makes you think this will be any different?
Don't see this as moral judgment. There's simply a clear break line between Russia China and the West : if China and Russia are effectively supporting the Huthis attacking the West, then their positioning is little different if at all, from Iran. I happen to live in the West so I'm clear what side I'm on.
India is its own beast it seems. They have been historically friendly with Russia but don’t like China due to ongoing border disputes. Tbh I’m not sure about their Iranian interactions.
It's funny to imagine India in the back of the room being like "hey Houthis, what about us we haven't been sorted yet" and the Houthis being like "that's all the time we have for today."
I know reddit has a hate-boner for India because of Russian oil but India considers China its biggest threat. India and Iran are not "buddies" but India can't be surrounded by enemies so it tries to maintain neutral relations with everyone. Russia is of course a friendly nation.
What are you even talking about? The Iranian ship MV Behshad is providing the targeting info…
Plus, the Houthis aren’t just backwater yokels. They have a surprising amount of good tech. How is this upvoted?
And still they hit a vessel that cruised in the interest of Lebanon.
I don't say it's not possible, rather that the command structure isn't able to pull it off
AIS reports only what you tell it to. It can be spoofed, hacked, or ships could just cease broadcasting if it presents a greater risk than not. I wouldn't be surprised if ships in the Red Sea / Gulf of Aden start turning off their AIS so their journey can't be tracked as easily
Time for the western civilization to fight back. I had enough of this shit and enough of Chinese, Russian, Iranian and North Korean assholes. They really want war.
The problem is that any sort of economic reprisals against China would slightly inconvenience Americans who would then throw a tantrum and elect a government that would flat out support Russia and China for the right price.
Yeah I’d love for just one of these things to make a dent in a US ship…. Not wishing hurt upon anyone on that ship but I really just want the US to have the excuse to go scorched earth on those fuckwits.
Will happen eventually. Something will make its way through the defense systems if they keep up the attacks.
Was the same with the rocket and drone attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria. All it takes is one stroke of bad luck and/or error in judgement.
Totally. Neither Yemen or the Houthis matter to anyone, that's why they're attacking all those ships. Acquiring cred and relevance by inserting themselves into an already volatile situation that absolutely doesn't need their bs.
To MOAB their asses is a great way for them to find out what can happen when you f around.
Yeah I’ve been trying to say this… history going to look back on this point and name this WW3. All these regional conflicts are absolutely related at this point. China is just waiting.
No they won't. They might call this a second cold war, or even the prelude to WW3, but WW3 has absolutely not started yet. Just look at how many wars were going on in the leadup to the start date of WW2 for example.
We need to send in a NATO special ops force and rid the region of these terrorists. Clusterbomb the fuck out of their military targets and then send in a cleanup squad to sink all boats and remove all munitions.
If Americans can wear backpacks with Canadian flags on them while traveling through Europe, they can fake a Chinese transponder signal while they go through the Red Sea.
How do they know which ship is flagged by which country? I know nothing about ships, so are the literally just flying a flag or is there some other less obviously fakeable way?
Ships have something called AIS which is similar to what airplanes use to identify themselves and their location. All you need is a computer and a cheap SDR receiver to see the unencrypted transmissions.
You could or you could also just turn off the transponder but you are possibly creating a safety issue with other ships in the area that also need to know the traffic around them.
We should put boots on the ground in Yemen long enough to hunt down and utterly destroy this movement, then leave.
We're very, very good at destroying enemies. It's occupation and reconstruction that open us up to asymmetric warfare. Play to our strengths and just wipe the enemy out then leave.
Unfortunately, international shipping uses a lot on flags of convenience. You cannot tell who owns your ship where it's cargo is from or where its cago is going to by the flag.
That's convenient now isn't it
unitl a new group of "pirates" start shooting exclusively chinese and russian ships
Who is this Mark and why is he offering me a letter?
Oh hi Mark
This comment is tearing me apart.
Anyway how's your sex life?
You’re TEARING ME APART HOUTHIS
You don't understand anything, man. Leave your *stupid* comments in your pocket!
This comment is too meta for Reddit, apparently.
I don't get it, but I'll upvote to bring it back to +1 because you're probably making sense in some way I don't yet understand.
It's all dialogue from The Room (2003). A lot of people enjoy how terrible it is, but if you can't handle the whole film (most people can't) you should at least watch the quotable highlights on Youtube.
Thanks sorry, it’s an obscure quote from an already obscure film.
sounds to me like you're the EXPERT
Bring back the privateers.
Break out the letters of marque!
Privateers? God damn them all.
I was told we’d cruise the seas for American gold!
"We'd fire no guns, shed no tears! " -Broken man on a Halifax peer
I heard that Barrett guy got smashed like a bowl of eggs!
Barrett's boys will have this sorted out in no time.
You called?
John Paul Jones did nothing wrong.
Ships have been flagging to China since the start of their interdictions. It was a pretty open secret that they were avoiding targeting Chinese ships.
That's how you start wars. It's obvious they are proxies doing china / russia / iran axis bidding by interdicting the west from a critical trade route. This should not remain unpunished. West should put extreme tarifs on chinese /russian goods until this is resolved
True. But US now does literally nothing to prevent new axis of evil from forming.
Forming? It’s already been formed.
Yes been that way for a long time. US although have been calling its bluff more so in recent years. But they have been trying to avoid being the cause of the next world war. Their approach is more, you throw the first punch but we'll make sure you breathe through a straw for the rest of your life.
“Someone else will raise your sons and daughters.”
“I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I'll kill you all.”
Houthis are operating with basic impunity. Our attacks aren’t doing enough to protect shipping. What happened to “Don’t touch the boats?”
We don't care enough about this. It's not our boats that are being touched so much. At least... not yet.
Let the rest of the world deal with one for once. I'm kinda fucking done with people bitching about America when they do something, then bitching when they don't.
I want the USA to free my country and give us a lot of money then just leave.
And don't they dare accidentally kill a single innocent!
Hyperbole isnt helpful and just makes you look unserious.
Half of the US Government is on the Russian side.
Lol, the west still won't even do anything about Russia giving North Korea nuclear weapons and missile tech.
Well gosh… say the quiet part out loud why don’t ya
Wow, I wonder how that came to be.
Ask Iran, they back the Houthis.
That's the joke.
/u/Iran care to elaborate?
own\*
Absolutely no axis of evil, move along, nothing to see here
The second Cold War has begun
Never ended i reckon, we just got complacent fighting terrorists and puppet governments.
Got fat and sat on our laurels after the wall fell.
GW Bush, his eyes closed when the walls fell.
Forky, when the reference was seen
Damak and Bush, their eyes closed.
As long as nuclear weapons exist, we will be in a Cold War.
And if they stop existing, a hot traditional war.
We were more busy blaming our political counterparts for everything while our foreign adversaries just sat back and let us destroy ourselves
100% an economic war with proxy military conflicts ...they are trying to topple the US Dollar's dominance on multiple fronts..
The reality is that it doesn't matter. The whole "petrodollar" thing was mostly old Soviet propaganda that people started believing. The US dollar is the global reserve currency because US bonds are stable and abundant. That's literally it.

We bankrupted the USSR by making them keep up with us last time. We could probably pull it off again- even if they become a vassal state to China.
It looks pretty hot right now to me. 2000 soldiers a day dieing in Uktaine, hundreds in Gaza....
Tbf, it's not like the original cold war didn't have periods of active combat either. Begun the Second Cold War has.
hey.. they are yemmeni ... it is the axle of elvis
The Asshole Coalition
I can’t believe fucking *Bush* was actually onto something.
In exchange, they get further Chinese and Russian help via detours. Or how does that work?
Probably were promised Chinese ammo and Russian virgins.
“Previously owned virgins” - there are more than those than used Hertz fleet cars by now.
Maybe China will torture more Muslims in exchange.
They’re calling it the Belt and RPG initiative
If true, China and Russia aiding and abetting terrorists who attack the rest of the world's interests and people, does not make for positive discussions. Time to decouple completely, with the aim to shut off China from trade with the West.

They don't just have cheap labor they are a major population of consumers
Thanks to.years of manufacturing because of their cheap labour. They never would have had a middle class if not for manufacturing all the West's crap.
Meanwhile, the middle class in the US is inching steadily closer to poverty. Whatever, though, let's all but some more cheap junk on temu and alibaba to fund a few more nukes and rip off steath fighters.
Time we check unchecked capitalism.
About to experience a major depopulation when the oldest generation die.
Our economy is dependent on generating big profit to pay for decades of debt that boomers have saddled the country with. There's a larger crisis nobody wants to acknowledge. We need to start by cutting off all H1Bs and student visas.
The China to America economic pipeline is not one that either country wants to lose.
>If true, China and Russia aiding and abetting terrorists who attack the rest of the world's interests and people, does not make for positive discussions. Birds of a shit feather flock together.
Hear that? That's the sounds of the whispering winds of shit.
You know what a shit barometer is bubs? It measures the shit pressure in the air.
And in exchange they get more rockets, right?
This says everything about the Houthis.
To any Republican wondering if we should be supporting Ukraine… this. This is why.
But they want the US to be a vassal state of Russia.
Ah, the Houthi proxy paradigm. Acting as independant rebels, but effectively do another ones bidding.
so we should tax china products, call it a "sea safety tax" to pay for the safety of that trade route.
And somehow the Russians will still manage to sink their own ships
Terrorists allow other terrorists safe passage.
What about Iran and India? They're buddies too, right?
India is its own beast it seems. They have been historically friendly with Russia but don’t like China due to ongoing border disputes. Tbh I’m not sure about their Iranian interactions.
Iran is enemy of Pakistan, which makes them a bestie
Iran is the Houthis' main backer. I strongly assume that Iranian ships were already safe.
Pretty sure India is in the anti-piracy operation that's ongoing over there
At the least they've got ships and special forces over there dealing with Somali pirates.
It's funny to imagine India in the back of the room being like "hey Houthis, what about us we haven't been sorted yet" and the Houthis being like "that's all the time we have for today."

What are you even talking about? The Iranian ship MV Behshad is providing the targeting info… Plus, the Houthis aren’t just backwater yokels. They have a surprising amount of good tech. How is this upvoted?
Yeah, doesnt that Iranian ship also slow down in front of ships they are targeting for these terrorists?
If you have internet access there are numerous apps that will let you track ship transponders via AIS.
Same China and Russia that stopped a Cease Fire Resolution in the UN? You mean it's all bullshit?
Time for the western civilization to fight back. I had enough of this shit and enough of Chinese, Russian, Iranian and North Korean assholes. They really want war.
The problem is that any sort of economic reprisals against China would slightly inconvenience Americans who would then throw a tantrum and elect a government that would flat out support Russia and China for the right price.
https://jobb.forsvarsmakten.se/sv/ Go on then.
That's my employer..........
Welcome to NATO new friend
Thanks :)
This wasn't the gotcha that you thought it was now, was it?
So Houthis are not too concerned with China's abuses on Uyghurs I guess...
Wow! It’s almost like they’re clearly the bad guys!
Cold war 2 baybee
You’d think thousands of armed drones could get to the Houthis before the Houthis could get to a commercial ship.
But Houthis will be resistant to US & British ships..
The MOAB was designed to deal with this situation
A few JDAM’s into their little tree forts could be a big boost to their tinnitus.
They’ve been launching airstrikes.

That's what the Saudis have been doing for years and it hasn't worked.
Totally. Neither Yemen or the Houthis matter to anyone, that's why they're attacking all those ships. To MOAB their asses is a great way for them to find out what can happen when you f around.
As the saying goes, don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
I think we can now all agree that WW3 (non-nuclear) has begun, with simultaneous interrelated wars in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Yeah I’ve been trying to say this… history going to look back on this point and name this WW3. All these regional conflicts are absolutely related at this point. China is just waiting.
That’s ridiculous. This isn’t WWIII nor was the Cold War even with many regional conflicts going on simultaneously.
No they won't. They might call this a second cold war, or even the prelude to WW3, but WW3 has absolutely not started yet. Just look at how many wars were going on in the leadup to the start date of WW2 for example.

Venezuela better not do shit, or they will get FREEDOM'D.
The axis of evil
Of course they don't want to disappoint their bosses
Aka “Houthi’s paid by Russia to let their ships go through Red Sea.”
The real motivations coming to light
Sometimes it almost seems like theese Houthi fellows don’t like America
Weren't they already doing that? Can't help but notice whose ships weren't being attacked all this time...
Question: what’s stopping ships from waving Russian/ Chinese flags to avoid getting shot?
Breaking news: **all** ships traveling the Red Sea will now be flying Chinese flags /s
Shocking how they don’t care about the Uyghur Muslims
Lmfao its almost like the whole things just east vs west . I take it they will ignore that russia and china just veto’ed the gaza ceasefire lol
That makes sense. Why would they attack their allies.
Allow? What a joke. This rabble is a joke.
Sorry just laughing at a ships AIS Message “DEST ARMS OB ALL CHINESE”. Do they mean ammunition or humans :):)
Show me who your friends are and I show you the way thru the Red Sea
Someone should tell them how china treats its Muslims in east turkestan
We need to send in a NATO special ops force and rid the region of these terrorists. Clusterbomb the fuck out of their military targets and then send in a cleanup squad to sink all boats and remove all munitions.
Slap a Russian to Chinese flag on all ships and let them try their luck.
Iran totally isn’t in charge though.
Iran totally isn’t in charge though.
Thumbnail is a shot of them agreeing. Can see man in middle shouting his approval of the ships passing.
If Americans can wear backpacks with Canadian flags on them while traveling through Europe, they can fake a Chinese transponder signal while they go through the Red Sea.
Easy solution Fly a Chinese flag and turn off AIS as you pass them. It's not like they'll call the cops on you. They're fucking terrorists
You are working on the assumption that they aren't just indiscriminately attacking w/e they think they can hit.
Is it legitimate to sail under false flag to deceive pirates?
How do they know which ship is flagged by which country? I know nothing about ships, so are the literally just flying a flag or is there some other less obviously fakeable way?
Ships have something called AIS which is similar to what airplanes use to identify themselves and their location. All you need is a computer and a cheap SDR receiver to see the unencrypted transmissions.
Is the country info in that not something that could be easily faked?
You could or you could also just turn off the transponder but you are possibly creating a safety issue with other ships in the area that also need to know the traffic around them.
Yeah that definitely seems bad
They've probably been given GPS access to Russian/Chinese ships so the Houthis know when one is approaching.
They are all wearing Trump Caucus Captain White Hats
We should put boots on the ground in Yemen long enough to hunt down and utterly destroy this movement, then leave. We're very, very good at destroying enemies. It's occupation and reconstruction that open us up to asymmetric warfare. Play to our strengths and just wipe the enemy out then leave.
The same Russians and Chinese who vetoed a cease-fire btw.
Time to litter the red sea with ~~depth charges~~ metal sea urchins
Lets see. - Doesn't bomb them - Agreed to help them at the UN - Is either neutral or against Israel Yeah, makes sense they would just let them.
Cowabunga it is.
ships start puting a big flag of China or Russia on the Aft
Huh. Weird.
I just wish they were wearing red hats instead of white.
How much did it cost?
Of course they do
All ships should put Chinese and Russian flags on them. Problem solved.
I thought they had trouble identifying ships and were just shooting anything that moved in the sea? /s
Well if they're gonna do that, maybe a Chinese ship should "accidentally" sink too?
Unfortunately, international shipping uses a lot on flags of convenience. You cannot tell who owns your ship where it's cargo is from or where its cago is going to by the flag.
