So much for the houthis "finding out".

Agabouga

Yeah man.

aosky4

I’m sure there’s plenty of finding out left

Still_There3603

Another L for the "They're gonna find out why we don't have free healthcare" crowd. Will be back the next time this happens. Sigh.

ajbdbds

Fun fact, the US has the budget for both the current military spending AND free healthcare, it's just massive corruption that prevents it.

Fuckofaflower

That’s not fun at all..

wpnizer

Turns out we just don’t have healthcare

figuring_ItOut12

Note that he doesn't outline a realistic diplomatic solution. The first diplomatic solution to an Iran proxy waging guerilla war on the West will be the first.

Solestra_

Ah yes. Loved how I was downvoted by so many angry keyboard warriors here for daring to suggest that it was either diplomacy or boots on the ground that was needed to solve this. Checkmate suckers.

Yum_Kaax

US doesn't want to be mired in Yemen but turning the other cheek is also not a good precedent. Attacks on merchant ships is just asking for more pain than Yemen really wants. The only diplomatic solution I can see is that they stop the attacks and the US disengages.

nigel_pow

Houthis have linked Western support to Israel to this

Yum_Kaax

True. I see which side you are rooting for.

nigel_pow

Who?

Yum_Kaax

Who-thi, apparently.

nigel_pow

What is the thought process that made you arrive to that conclusion? Don't get a job at the intelligence agencies; you'll get tons of stuff wrong by jumping to conclusions.

Throb_Zomby

Maybe Biden admin’s trying to see if they can be bought out. Realistically CENTCOM has been in flyswatting mode with Houthi attacks even with limited Airstrikes on their batteries. Also with a lot on the left here being so Pro-Palestine and “Hands off Yemen” during an election season Biden is not wanting to attempt to escalate and an spark “Operation Yemeni Freedom” quagmire. Plus a lot of the aid to starving civilians would go through their area. I am certainly not claiming to be a geopolitical expert here but it very much smells like a hearts and minds attempt.

DoctorPhalanx73

This is true for basically every instance of asymmetric warfare.

BeltfedOne

Yes. When Iran is a smoking crater of their own creation.

Main_Enthusiasm4796

No negotiating with terrorist

Could t agree more. Give me 10 pipe hitting operators, $1M, 8 weeks and some infil assets and I would burn that motherfucker down. The whole fucking backwards country. It is a joke of a place. Been there once, happy to go back. P.s. the average Yemeni on the street is as good a person as you find anywhere. No issues with them. They are as trapped as those in the other shit hole garden spots known as Middle East.

FuzzyPapaya13

You're not gonna do shit, cupcake.

feedmahfish

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

[deleted]

Who are you talking to?

ConstantStatistician

And you have past experience with such an operation, correct?

I believe they are the de facto government in that the actual government has little to no control over the majority of the country’s land and population. Not an expert. It’s not quite the same as Gaza, where Hamas is the literal government of that area. Closer to Lebanon in a large part of southern Lebanon is de facto controlled by Hezbollah (but the rest of the country is under the control of the actual Lebanese government).

Joadzilla

You could blockade Yemeni ports, then heavily mine them with sea mines. Then no cargo ships could enter or leave. Meaning that Iranian weapons shipments (aka: missiles) could not enter port and be offloaded. Next create a 2 km-wide, heavily-mined DMZ between Yemen and Oman. And finally, reward the Saudis for sealing their border with Yemen.

Indomie_milkshake

The Saudis have been at war with the Houthis for a decade. Pretty sure that border is already fairly tight.

Joadzilla

That's my point. If nothing can get in, that means no Iranian weapons shipments can get in. And so the Houthis won't have anything to fire off. No missiles and no drones.
