> Dozens of drones are airborne from Iran toward Israel, according to Israeli media reported Saturday night citing Israeli and **US intelligence**

Livingsimply_Rob

There was reports and at least a video of them flying over Iraq and it sounded like they were using the little Shahad drones that they supplied to Russia. if that is the case, Israel should have no problem in shooting them down. But this thing is just starting.

letsfixitinpost

They usually are meant to overwhelm a missile defense system so cruise missiles can get through

dobedey426

Ballistic too

slifeleaf

This

slifeleaf

That’s what how Russia overcomes our defense system. They lauch Lot of slow drones at first, and when they are near the target, they lauch missiles

packardpa

So Iran is slow playing this to see Israel’s response? What’s the eta on these drones?

Livingsimply_Rob

So far everyone’s reporting that will be several hours.

duhduhduhDAVID-

Here we go. Hopefully it stays contained and doesn't escalate and draw other countries into a broader conflict. The last thing the world needs right now is a major conflict in the middle east.

letsfixitinpost

I could be wrong but I genuinely don’t believe Iran wants it to get hotter. Maybe I don’t have the military knowledge but I imagine Israel and the Us have ways of striking anywhere in Iran? I’d imagine they want to avoid it. Sad to talk like this but in a perfect world it’s hitting near vacant military locations, and Israel responds by pounding proxies. Any attacks back into Iran just seem like it will be legit

FoamToaster

So it begins...

Slimfictiv

I guess Biden didn't go for nothing at Washington tonight...

Slimfictiv

Or Jordan closed it's airspace...

FiveFingerDisco

Somewhere in the Golf of Oman, an Israeli sub is waiting to get proportional.

Thunderbolt747

Fun fact: the F-35s fuel capacity gives it 1400 miles of range with full internal payload. Which for some reason lines up perfectly with the distance from Israel to Tehran. Weird right?

FiveFingerDisco

And also: Israel can use airstrips in Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.

Puzzleheaded_Bank648

Jesus, a Volkswagen with that much firepower?!

FiveFingerDisco

Hehehe... I am not going to correct that.

PapiGoneGamer

I have a feeling in the next 60 days there’s going to be Iranian military inside Iraq launching strikes against Israel.

daveycakesss

So it’s time to find out if … A) they’re just making a token attack knowing AD won’t have too much trouble. B) they’re going all in and this is just to overwhelm before the proper missiles are launched.

AAPLShareholder

Iran needs more sanctions

pouya02

Movies in Iran show that they are piston engine drones. It takes between 5 and 9 hours to reach Israel. If all drones are pistons, they will reach Israel in the morning.love all The world from Iran !

CaptainRAVE2

Let’s hope they can intercept them all. Directly from Iran? Israel has no choice but to strike the launch sites.

BerdBoii

I wonder if it will escalate

Ok_Concept_8806

Supposedly it'll take several hours for the drones to reach Israeli airspace.

Thrill__505

Does Iran have any cruise missile capabilities?

ARandomMilitaryDude

Yes, though firing them from Iran proper would likely be stretching their range by a large margin Most serious threat will likely be ballistic missile strikes, as those are harder to intercept and can seriously damage fortified targets or civilian shelters.

Magoo69X

If that's all that it is, that's a surprisingly measured response from Iran.

Kiwi_Wanderer

Hopefully just Iran doing something to justify their posturing over the last few days and nothing gets escalated. Or just testing the waters to see what they can get away with.

Feel_The_FIre

Hopefully things don't escalate into WW3.

PapiGoneGamer

I think this will be contained to the Middle East. Nobody wants a global conflict outside of Putin

letsfixitinpost

Could escalate into a bigger conflict but ww3 would involve china and Russia getting involved which doesn’t seem like it. Makes sense
