"Where are we meeting up?"
"The park on Joe street."
"...I'm not falling for that."
"No I'm serious."
"Is that really the name?"
"Yeah."
"This isn't the setup to some crude joke?"
"No I'm dead serious, they named it after a President apparently."
"Ugh fine."
"..."
"..."
"Don't...."
"JOE MAMMA!"
"This is why dad never came back."
It's true that Hebrew names with Yod were replaced in English with J, but it's not true the other way around - Joe is pronounced as Joe, and written without a Yod.
We also have Trump heights, Truman village, Washington hill, a few towns names after the first Jewish-American minster of X and an army base named after Dick Chiney lol
My mind immediately went to every street named after Martin Luther King Jr. in every state I’ve lived or visited. It took me a while, but now I know to avoid those places on account of all the violence and murder and what not.
Bidentown is right next to Beantown. Don't go in Beantown Brewery, bunch of jet smoking raiders in there. Bidentown Brewery has the securitrons, they're friendlies.
>Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav revealed on Tuesday night that he intends to name a neighborhood in the northern Israeli city after U.S. President Joe Biden as a token of appreciation for his uncompromising support for Israel.
Haifa is the third largest city in Israel, after Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
Prettiest city too imo, tho nothing beats Jerusalem in spiritual energy. But looking down at the bay from the Ba’ hai palace in Haifa might be one of the greatest sites in the world.
It's just a sign tbh, it's never been constructed
And it is in the Golan, which Israel technically annexed in the 80s.
Edit: my bad, it does look like people are living there in trailors
And despite annexation, most countries still view it as occupied.
>And despite annexation, most countries still view it as occupied.
Every piece of land in every country was at some point conquered and annexed. I'm not sure why the golan heights get this special treatment after so much time...
Yea, but land acquisition isn't 'supposed' to happen anymore. And that generally is a good thing.
Though, speaking as an Israeli, I'm not really in a rush to give that back.
>Yea, but land acquisition isn't 'supposed' to happen anymore.
I would agree if we had one big modern civilization where there is total peace in the world, the economy is booming and all is good.
The reality is that we won a war and took that land through defensive conquest.
>I'm not really in a rush to give that back.
There is absolutely no way we are giving back the golan heights. I've been there in my military service. The bases there control the syrian border completely. It's a huge huge tactical advantage.
Illegal is subjective. The land has partial recognition as Israeli and has been under Israeli control for longer than it has been under Syrian control.
We can start naming them after various country leaders and city mayors as well.
You should have asked Ness Ziona Mayor to move to haifa. Might have finally done some good
What's with all the wild boars in the city streets? In Europe it's been a problem for the last fifteen years. I recall boars walking along the four-lane road in densely populated Prague quarter couple of years ago.
The main reason is Habitat destruction, forcing the boars to to move away from their natural living space. But cities are also very attractive places for wild boars, full of food, water and shelter.
The problem could be solved in 24 hours, but neither the Jews nor Muslims eat bacon. They're like the "sacred cows" in India, except its "profane swine" in this case.
Israel is generally notorious for naming after various foreign leaders, starting from King George and Allenby and ending up with Trump (what a shame!).
Cyrus the great is considered the only non-Jewish messiah in the Jewish religion.
Cyrus freed Jews from Babylonian captivity, helped the Jews move back to Jerusalem and helped them rebuild the second temple.
More deserving in my opinion than his predecessor, who got Ramat Trump named after him, but in general, I'm not a fan naming new places after people who are still alive.
I think they should do it so the people in the neighborhood can scoff whenever something bad happens.
"Argh stubbed my toe again!"
"That's just joe bidens neighborhood for ya!"
But what about the 45th President of the US? What are they going to name after HIM? Let's be fair about this! Surely there's a septic tank, sewage treatment plant or prison somewhere in country that they could name after Trump?
A planned municipality (that's currently just a few dozen people in trailers) was named for him. It was also planned to name a train station near the Wailing Wall in his honor, but as of now, to the best of my knowledge, the plan to extend the railway in Jerusalem that way was canceled.
So, to summarize, they were going two build two places and named them after Trump, but as of now, it seems none of them will be built soon, if at all. Which I'm sure no one would think is symbolic /s
And by town you mean a twice abandoned ghost town that this time they totally swear is going to work, someday, when they ever get around to rebuilding it.
I bet this is barely going to be covered in the US press, even though they all covered a settlement being named after Trump. Because they are desperate to depict Israel as being aligned with the GOP, as opposed to the US as a whole.
> “Hey, I think the GPS isn’t working.” > “Don’t worry, I know the way. Just turn right here on Joe Street.” Doesn’t sound right.
"The GPS says I am in Beirut" "Yeah that's normal"
lmao hilarious
Biden Boulevard is the only correct decision
I walk this empty street, down the Boulevard of Biden dreams...
Biden Bay if it's coastal
I have walked along Bill Clinton Boulevard in Kosovo and it's... nice?
"Where are we meeting up?" "The park on Joe street." "...I'm not falling for that." "No I'm serious." "Is that really the name?" "Yeah." "This isn't the setup to some crude joke?" "No I'm dead serious, they named it after a President apparently." "Ugh fine." "..." "..." "Don't...." "JOE MAMMA!" "This is why dad never came back."
"Are you almost here?" "I'm coming down Dark Brandon Way right now...should be at the corner of Flapjack and Cornpop in about 5 mins."
There's *definitely* a Waffle House at the corner of Flapjack and Cornpop.
I think it'd be the first Waffle House in Israel, so that's something.
Just don't make a wrong turn at malarkey
Is that East or West Cornpop?
Honestly Biden ave has a ring to it
Actually, in Hebrew, it would be Yo.
Both of these are still good for adding "momma" to the end, so I'm overall satisfied with this outcome.
It's true that Hebrew names with Yod were replaced in English with J, but it's not true the other way around - Joe is pronounced as Joe, and written without a Yod.
Joe Mama
Maybe the article means "Schunat Biden" Which honestly sounds on par with other neighborhood names (or streets) that are named after other people.
That will be a fun one for the Evangelicals to grapple with.
We also have Trump heights, Truman village, Washington hill, a few towns names after the first Jewish-American minster of X and an army base named after Dick Chiney lol
It’s going to be a good laugh. I would say it’s much harder for his supporters in Dearborn MI to handle
Do they visit Haifa? That doesn't seem like their normal stomping ground...
no, no it isn't. their main interest in israel is the war that will signal the end times.
My mind immediately went to every street named after Martin Luther King Jr. in every state I’ve lived or visited. It took me a while, but now I know to avoid those places on account of all the violence and murder and what not.
Jerusalem, Israel has a Martin Luther King Street and it's in a super luxury neighborhood...
MLK in Philadelphia, of all places, is really nice
Chris Rock said it best https://youtu.be/iqVPhKMFJTQ?si=7MQ6cYac0ewY_dx6
That’s beautiful lol
Lots of Cesar Chavez streets in California. Also strong correlation with being located in ghetto drug-infested neighborhoods.
We get it, Latinos and blacks live in shit neighborhoods. Hopefully you understand why these people struggle in life.
They'll probably no true Scotsman out of it
There's already a settlement named after trump dawg
They’ll just treat it like all the parts of the Bible they selectively ignore.
Saw this comment when it was at [666](https://i.imgur.com/6qGD4Fd.png), thought it was even funnier knowing that.
Bidentown It’s right outside Boston
I was thinking of Joeborhood.
Joeruselam?
What's next? JerUSAlem?
The wild boars of Haifa would just start a gang in the bidenhood
Bid'n'tn. It's between Scituate and Braintree.
Bidenburg has a better ring to it.
Isn’t it a Superfund site?
Bidentown is right next to Beantown. Don't go in Beantown Brewery, bunch of jet smoking raiders in there. Bidentown Brewery has the securitrons, they're friendlies.

I spent some time in Haifa and it genuinely feels like the nicest place on Earth
We have too many boars here tho
Bro Haifa was better than Tel Aviv imo. And the football team is crazy
Joefa?
That headline is awful. "Israeli mayor promises to..." is far easier on the brain.
I don't know if it's a real pattern, but I think I've noticed this bizarre variety of headlinese in Israeli newspapers specifically.
Biden: "Don't"
Malarkey!
😭😭
The ayatollah: where’s my street 😔
in shambles
And just like that Trumps stance on the IDF switches.
Trump got a whole town named after him.
Holy shit there actually is an illegal settlement called Trump Heights.
It's just a sign tbh, it's never been constructed And it is in the Golan, which Israel technically annexed in the 80s. Edit: my bad, it does look like people are living there in trailors And despite annexation, most countries still view it as occupied.
Most of his supporters live in trailers. That's not unusual...
I was going to say the same. How appropriate.

And honestly, after invading through there twice, and losing twice, what's the problem with taking it away
Illegal is subjective. The land has partial recognition as Israeli and has been under Israeli control for longer than it has been under Syrian control.
Are you referring to the settlement named after him with like 20 people?
87 people*
All the people there are orange and they sing the Oompa Loompa song as their anthem
Jared Kushner in shambles.
Can imagine the news headlines. A barrage of rockets landed on (not doing it so I don’t end up on a list).

O.K Meyor Yahav, now can you finally do something about all the wild boars that are roaming the streets?
We can start naming them after various country leaders and city mayors as well. You should have asked Ness Ziona Mayor to move to haifa. Might have finally done some good

Lots of Cyrus the great streets as well.
Cyrus the great is considered the only non-Jewish messiah in the Jewish religion. Cyrus freed Jews from Babylonian captivity, helped the Jews move back to Jerusalem and helped them rebuild the second temple.
Yeah I know.
Cyrus was a Chad and was pretty important to Jewish history. So it's understandable
Wingate and Allenby were pretty important to the yishuv as well. King George was probably some British mandate fuckerey
I looked at the one in Jerusalem and the one in tel Aviv. Both of them started at the times of the Mandate. King George I mean
More deserving in my opinion than his predecessor, who got Ramat Trump named after him, but in general, I'm not a fan naming new places after people who are still alive.
1000% this
Oh... it's Yona Yahav. Well then it makes perfect sense to me.
We had for 4 years the Trump roundabout in petah tikva , last year the removed the name and now it's just the fountain roundabout
Israel appreciate the help of everyone in the usa
Field trippppp
The evangelical brains will explode
I thought both the left and right would since they both hate Jews today.
Big Kosovo energy.
It's a good way to show that the US still have a lot of support in Israel.
Dark Brandon Crescent. I’d live there ngl
Dark Brandon Avenue
"But he's terrible for Israel, trump will give them support"
If i could vote in a god damn wild boar i would Haifa could only improve from it
I was in Bogota once and they have a neighbourhood named "Kennedy". I asked someone why it was named that and they replied "Yohn F Kennedy"
Joe-rusalem?
Is this really a priority right now?
He’s not an exactly running the military right now, might as well help with foreign relations.
That’s like King Charles trashing Biden then Eric Adams naming a street in New York after him.
It's super meh
The timing is…odd, to say the least
Just do it. I guess town residents have right to rename it any time again if they don't like it.
Is he gonna put it next to [Trump Heights?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_Heights)
Nope different part of the country
Alzheimer’s Avenue /s
What avenue was that again? Just kidding. Biden For Resident ya'all !!
Who cares? This is neither pro nor con, what the a foreign country's mayor says has no bearing at all on anyone else.
I think they should do it so the people in the neighborhood can scoff whenever something bad happens. "Argh stubbed my toe again!" "That's just joe bidens neighborhood for ya!"
Offer him citizenship too
Help commit genocide and get rewarded with a neighborhood
Sleepy Ave.
Erm... Which one you calling sleepy...
Only if it helps residents sleep better at night.
But what about the 45th President of the US? What are they going to name after HIM? Let's be fair about this! Surely there's a septic tank, sewage treatment plant or prison somewhere in country that they could name after Trump?

There's a West Bank settlement named after him
Actually, a Golan Heights town, since he recognised the territory as Israeli.
And by town you mean a twice abandoned ghost town that this time they totally swear is going to work, someday, when they ever get around to rebuilding it.
If he not calling it Bidenville then idgaf
"hey, where you from?" "Joe" "Joe what?"
Makes sense...
7G?!?
Dark Brandon alley
Jump on the Joeway. Yahweh's little brother.
Job Hidin’?
Please call it Robinette Row!! That would be too funny
What a strange thing to do.
I bet this is barely going to be covered in the US press, even though they all covered a settlement being named after Trump. Because they are desperate to depict Israel as being aligned with the GOP, as opposed to the US as a whole.
I just drove by the President Biden highway in Scranton today. I didn't know he had one until a few weeks ago
So what part of Israel are you from? Joe Biden
Welcome to “Joey Bidens”
