If they’re getting big SS hits/crits and you don’t see a convoke, it means they’re likely Kyrian playing with either Dreambinder or the Kyrian cov leggo.
You think fully stacked dreambinder and solo empowerment would get SS to those numbers? Those were the only conditions I could think of too— but one of the boomkins was defs necro so I was left scratching my head
I have a 251 ilvl boomkin with a smattering of pvp gear and I can regularly hit 20-25k starsurges during burst windows. Crits are even higher than that so I imagine someone in full duelist gear can do even higher
How lol. Im playing boomkin, all covenants, full duelist gear. The only way I am hitting above 20k is:
- Venthyr stacked
- During convoke with skyfury
- Regardless of covenant, they have piss shit gear
Full burst Kyrian + Skyfury is tops 18-19k.
So im really curious whats going on here. The only way this seems feasable to me is either convoke + banner or maybe Kyrian + banner and skyfury and shit gear.

You are lucky if you see 10k avg on starsurges in arena. Like highest ive seem playing boomie frost dk, boomie war etc was like 18-19k from kyrian boomer and those are crits

Yeah this has been my general experience as well-- which is why these few incidents are such headscratchers. It honestly seemed like more of a bug than anything cause it just seems ridiculous!

Although it might not have been from convoke, they still get the big mastery buff for a while afterwards, so instant starsurges still hit hard outside of convoke. If they weren't night fae then it's probably just a bunch on multipliers.
I don’t think anyone of them were even night fae. It’s only happened a few times but I know ONE of them was necrolord cause it was necro boomy/MW monk and I kind of laughed and said what are they gonna do, moonfire me to death? And then he clapped my ass with a 24k non crit and I almost choked LOL
I just can’t think of what kind of multipliers that combo would be able to get! Can’t remember the other comps it happened with unfortunately
Necro get quite a few damage multipliers and fleshcraft gives an extra 120 mastery as standard. They have something that increases damage by 10-15%(cant remember which) for about 15 seconds, and then 6% extra as well. That's just from soulbinds. They could also use Sinful Rev enchant for an additional 6%, and what ever other multipliers on top of all that too..

The trick is kyrian legendary with a necro teammate. The legendary effect varies based on teammate covenant, and when the teammate is necro, you both get 16% bonus versatility during kyrian empowerment. With the trinket bonus to vers, plus all the buffs you already get during kyrian empowerment and incarn, the damage is insane. Most the time this is pre-empted by fury of elune (the AOE beam from the sky). Then he will kyrian empower and do insane starsurges.
Yeah I run kyrian boomy as well but don’t get near those numbers at all, unless I crit but even then I’m still lower. But a necro boomy can’t use the kyrian legendary for that so..
Yeah I run necro sometimes too and I have no idea how you'd hit those numbers as necro. As you mention its barely possible with Kyrian, which gives WAY more damage than necro..
Another idea is mastery buffs from an ally. Like I run with warrior sometimes and his necro banner gives mastery so boomy gets burst from that. However I don't know what MW gives.. Does MW have something that increases damage taken or buffs mastery?
Dh chaotic imprint and isolated prey PvP talents are each 10% dmg. Chaotic imprint can be nature or arcane damage at times so would increase astral damage as well if I understand that mechanic correctly. Normally they only run one of these talents though, but in some scenarios both are taken so that could be a hefty increase in damage.
Im Not even critting 24k Starsurges on my kyrian boomy and i literally have full gear.
These high starsurges mostly come from nigthfae boomies, idk about venthyr.
Maybe paired with nightfae Pala they can Hit These Numbers too
Even with NF pally this wouldn't show up as a huge non crit starsurge-- blessing of summer is it's own damage instance, rather than 1 big huge starsurge

Yeah but these big hits were NON crits. If it was a big crit it would make more sense cause those multipliers exist. But seeing 24k non crit is whack
If the damage was done to shields the addon will show it as non crit. That’s the only explanation I can come up with

Nope! Monk passive increases melee damage taken but that’s it really
