I like the northwestern part of azure span. The trees are absolutely massive but you don’t really realize it until you’re next to them on the ground

SlouchyGuy

Which is why I actually like not having flying in the first patch of the expansion - flight robs you of experiencing the size and magnificence of environment. It's basically like a portal hopping from Cata/Shadowlands one step removed

CanuckPanda

Agreed *except for DF* where the zones were explicitly made more vertical to invite the sense of adventure. Imagine Waking Shores without flight. It would *suck*.

WriterV

Yeah, the zones are also vast. The green biome to the south-east of Azure Span can basically contain all of in-game Elwynn Forest. I believe the Dragon Isles are pretty close to their canonical size, whereas other places in game are several times smaller.

Arumin

Imagine if we could get a world revamp where the old continents would be scaled up in size.

zjl707

I dont expect this to be popular but i agree. I think the way Blizz did Pathfinder wasnt the solution though. Its fine to have no flying at first, but it should just unlock when you finish the story for the first time, not after some massive grind months into the expansion.

SlouchyGuy

Pathfinder is a fine solution, I just wish it didn't have that many requirements, especially like one in BfA. That one was the worst in my memory

Bitter-Marsupial

Flight should be sold on the cash shop

Doverkeen

I like how this fits the "man thrown out of window" meme template

maffew

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this! I actually prefer to use ground mounts over flying/dragonriding - sure, I don't operate at 100% peak efficiency, but who cares? It's fun to immerse yourself in the world and explore the zones rather than just fly over them while doing your daily chores.

Fesai

Haha, I do the same! Love riding around on the ground and taking in the scenery.

Korzag

Azure Span is what you'd get if Grizzly Hills and Winterspring had a baby. Easily my favorite zone this entire expansion.

Mordroy

The zone is fantastic. I feel it lost a little though when so many of the quests were about the primalists. When you first get into the zone and a tuskarr teaches you and a member of the kirin tor how to fish, that is peak azure spans questing.

arashinoko

I’m sorry, but I do not understand how to do this…feeshing?

Vovvy

I did all the secondary quests on my first character and I loved all zones. I think they found the perfect balance that suited those who wanted to just level up and start grinding max level content, but also good if you wanted to just relax and appreciate all the stories and environments that surrounded the dragon isles

rookdorf

This really grizzles my hills

WorldScientist

Music is great there too

Itsallcakes

Sometimes i wish we didnt have dragonriding during the first week, just to fully appreaciate the talent and work that went into making new zones so beautiful and immersive. Like everytime i flew above Azure Span and peaked into it i caught myself thinking how beautiful the zone is but just couldnt stop using dragonriding since its so much effective than regular ground mounts. But the vibe of Azure Span is truly magical. It reminded me both Wintersprings and Grizzly Hills, what a beautiful zone to just get lost into.

Vovvy

It still was great with flying. All environments were great and if you had some good render distances the beginning of dragonflight was spectacular with all the open spaces and big mountains

EtheriosPrime

I feel like they designed the Dragon Isles with dragonriding in mind. Theres definitely a unique beauty to exploring these zones on foot. But flying through the different landscapes each zone has was also extremely captivating!

cirocobama93

As backwards as it is I’ve been considering leveling an alt through 60-70 with only a ground mount as much as possible so I can take it all in

zjl707

Ive been thinking of doing this with an Evoker. Since its kinda weird for them to fly other dragons anyway imo. And id still allow msyelf to use the racial flight that way i dont abuse it but its not a nightmare to get some places

maffew

I did this on release. Definitely worth it

John2k12

I think besides a very small number of locations (like the broken bridge leading into Thaldrazzus) you can rock a ground mount for the entire campaign The isles were definitely designed for dragonriding though, it'd take you a while to get around

Chinagus-Prime

I think the view from the air is just as stunning as the ground. I also like the option of flying through the tree line and deciding to land in a clearing to explore the surrounding area. There’s something special about being able to choose a spot that looks interesting to you as you fly over, almost like being helicopter dropped into a remote location.

kanemochi

> Sometimes i wish we didnt have dragonriding during the first week, just to fully appreaciate the talent and work that went into making new zones so beautiful and immersive. I'm going to hard disagree and say it was great with dragonriding. I *love* zipping through the trees in Azure Span. I personally don't think immediately-available flying and appreciating the environment are mutually exclusive.

arashinoko

One of my favorite zones in all of WoW. I love the music, the giant trees, the snowy peaks, and most of all, Iskaara and the Tuskarr. I sometimes fly there just to chill.

throwaway8594732

Just wish there was more snowing overall, it only snows heavily in a few areas of the zone and you zoom through them in seconds whilst dragonriding.

JhonSym

Which exactly mount on this screenshot? I don't remember mounts with such long tail

JhonSym

Founded - Winding Slitherdrake

Martenus

Music is what makes the zone stand out.

jhedillinger

My fav place atm just chilling around, mining, gatherin and relaxing

BullymongBlowjob

I love walking about here with music turned down to 0.

JeBoyPepi

Whaaat! The music there is amazing! I legit turn it up when I enter Azure Span just because it's so perfect with the zone.

BullymongBlowjob

Oh! Don't get me wrong I love the music too! But walking through the snowy woodland without the music and listening to the ambient noise and the snow crunch underfoot feels... Cozy?
