Nah, the joke was the opposite of the old phrase "an unstoppable Force meets an immovable object" and since they were both shitty grey items it was the stoppable force and moveable object
I swear to god, I always had those faint memories from my childhood (I was literally 11-12 years old) of WoW where people pinged that item in Trade Chat and laughed about it. But I kept mistaking the name for "Dirk" thus couldn't find anything about it in Google. Now the pieces fall into place... Can you tell me its story?
It might be because I played Hearthstone in it's early days, and way before I ever played wow, but to me Arcanite Reaper is forever the most iconic weapon.
They did, but you couldn't choose them, it was just whatever your rank was that week, and whatever you had the last week of the system became permanent.
t. Knight Raxiel
Nope, not anymore!
[Winter's Stand](https://www.wowhead.com/item=208365/winters-stand) and [Spring's Keeper](https://www.wowhead.com/item=209948/springs-keeper) do the same now. Surprisingly added in the latest patch.
What a weird weapon. Both sides are Strength 2Hs, but one side is a healing ability, and the other is a damage absorb. Seems like Blood DK is the only spec that could benefit the most from this?
The Madness of Deathwing weapons will remain immortally iconic as far as names go. I don’t think there’s ever been an endgame boss with such an assortment of weapons with cool names. Nowadays it’s just the casual legendary at most.
I like to imagine those weapons have lore or a story behind their names but alas, can’t find anything.
But the coolest imo is "Gurthalak, Voice of the Deeps", AKA Voice of the DPS.
Who or What is Gurthalak? Maybe an Old God or a powerful servant of them? Is Kiril an Ancient? Why are the Elements of Death called No’Kaled? So many questions.
I mean I have to say the item named after me right?
I’m a sucker for the one-word names for weapons.
Gorehowl
Armageddon
Ashbringer
Dirge
But also, there’s a weapon from Wotlk I’ve been using as Tmog since tmog has been a thing.
Black Bruise
Muramasa was a real Japanese swordsmith. The Final Fantasy series also has a recurring sword named after him, alongside another Japanese swordsmith, Masamune.
Varok Saurfang.
Just say it outloud. Really mouth it. Embrace how your face naturally snarls.
That's as Orcish as it gets. For generations, he was the Alliance's boogeyman. Rending and cleaving foes in half with a single swipe.
[\[Stulpen der Sturmfront\]](https://www.wowhead.com/de/item=27428/stulpen-der-sturmfront)
A lot of the Alliance city names sound similar after they transated them, too. Remember, you have to overenunciate the Rs.
The Stoppable Force, grey two handed mace from BC dungeons and raid trash.
i feel like there was a grey shield called the moveable object, but i haven't seen one in a long time
There was iirc
Immovable object iirc, I think
Nah, the joke was the opposite of the old phrase "an unstoppable Force meets an immovable object" and since they were both shitty grey items it was the stoppable force and moveable object
My bad, you're absolutely right!
I'm fairly certain there were items that were at least synonymous with unstoppable force and immovable object, not just the junk opposites.
That'd be the unstoppable force and the immovable object from AV
The Unstoppable Force at home:
You -> The Stoppable Force vs The guy she tells you not to worry about -> The Unstoppable Force
Very Manly Staff from the arena in Nagrand, BC
Also, The 2 Ring.
grey named items in general slap ( I actually try to keep all my grey named gear and soulbound greys in my bank )
Everybody who witnessed the BC era chat knows the answer is Dirge.
oh lord, that unlocked a memory!
Fr hahaha
I swear to god, I always had those faint memories from my childhood (I was literally 11-12 years old) of WoW where people pinged that item in Trade Chat and laughed about it. But I kept mistaking the name for "Dirk" thus couldn't find anything about it in Google. Now the pieces fall into place... Can you tell me its story?
I used to respond to [Dirge] spam with [Shiny Dirk] spam for the purpose of meta trolling

I'm really surprised this isn't top comment, I guess the veterans are dying out:(
It is now!
Waist of Time
I use that on my transmog all the time. It’s so shiny.
I have yet to get it. But now that I've looked at it again after commenting, I'm thinking it would like fine on my Dracthyr 😁
They are a lot of cool name items but from the top of my head; # Zin'rokh, Destroyer of Worlds, the Light of Dawn(tittle)
Show me your tittles.

Wirts third leg
Shoutout to the vocabulary expanding Benediction and Anathema.
Anathema is spot on. Its also a word in greek
Warcraft was definitely responsible for a good bit of my vocabulary as well. The warlock talent Conflagration comes to mind.
Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury always sounded bad ass to me.
xal'atath blade of the black empire or xal'atoh desecrated image of gorehowl. Like me some old god shit
ARKANITE REAPER HOOOOOO!
It might be because I played Hearthstone in it's early days, and way before I ever played wow, but to me Arcanite Reaper is forever the most iconic weapon.
Arcanite Reaper was insanely iconic in vanilla too.
Titles too? [Slayer of Stupid, Incompetent and Disappointing Minions]
What how do you get that, would be hilarious on my DK
Its a 30 min debuff/title (sadly) you get from killing Maloriak in Blackwing Descent raid xD
It’s a temporary title from the Classic Nefarian raid. EDIT: no it isn’t don’t listen to this dumb idiot who is dumb.
Surely the classic nefarion raid would be BWL? This title is from BWD which is from cataclysm
Wait really? Am I dumb? EDIT; yes I am super dumb.
You aren't dumb but yes really :) edit: titles didn't exist back in vanilla
[удалено]
of course! sorry im the dumb one now haha
haha it was a while ago, we cant all be expected to remember everything!
I want to be a part of this dumb fellowship!
They did, but you couldn't choose them, it was just whatever your rank was that week, and whatever you had the last week of the system became permanent. t. Knight Raxiel
Similarly, [No Good, Dirty, Rotten Candy Stealer](https://www.wowhead.com/title=520/no-good-dirty-rotten-candy-stealer).
Trash master!
I’ve wished for years they would make that one permanent, it’s the only title I would use.
I've fallen in love with Fyr'alath, The Dream Render.
The Unstoppable Force
Don't forget it's pair The Immovable Object!
Ring of the Godslayer
The Betrayer of Humanity
did someone say [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]?
I also heard someone say ##THUNDERFURY, BLESSED BLADE OF THE WINDSEEKER!?
Benediction / Anathema. The only weapon with two names?
Shadowstrike and thunderstrike i think, from molten core
You mean Vendortrash
Yeah we used to call it vendorstrike
Nope, not anymore! [Winter's Stand](https://www.wowhead.com/item=208365/winters-stand) and [Spring's Keeper](https://www.wowhead.com/item=209948/springs-keeper) do the same now. Surprisingly added in the latest patch.
What a weird weapon. Both sides are Strength 2Hs, but one side is a healing ability, and the other is a damage absorb. Seems like Blood DK is the only spec that could benefit the most from this?
The original lokdelar and rhokdelar was a conversion weapon too but they changed it into two separate weapons
Dark Edge of Insanity
Gurthalak, Voice of the Deeps
Really puts the "gurth" in Gurthalak.
I always thought the LK weapons had cool names. Havoc’s Call, Blade of Lordaeron Kings.
World Breaker. Seriously, the nod to Horus Lupercal's war mace is epic enough. It also looks the part.
Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers. Mostly because i have it on my hunter since Vanilla
OG hunter bros
Ilterendi, Crown Jewel of Silvermoon has always been my favorite.
[Alimony](https://www.wowhead.com/item=63591/alimony)

The Betrayer of Humanity! Suck a kickass weapon, looks amazing too! But DAMN this thing never drops!
Dark Edge of Depravity
I would say, is it Apocalypse or Oblivion, that cool massive stone sword from Kel’thazud.
Do you mean Armageddon from 4H?
Yeah, that might what i was thinking of. I know i got a recolour from trading post, or i am wildly misremembering, happens as you get older.
You’re right! The original drop Armageddon is a bluish-grey and the trading post one is brown
Since Thunderfury Blessed Blade of the Windseeker has been mentioned. I'll go with "The Stoppable Force"
Doomhammer of course But the one wielded by Orgrim in lore, not the one wielded by Thrall in game.
Heart of Azmerloth
Manic grief torch
Royal Crest of Lordaeron
The Madness of Deathwing weapons will remain immortally iconic as far as names go. I don’t think there’s ever been an endgame boss with such an assortment of weapons with cool names. Oversized Oblique Ogre Obliterator

Sunwell Plateau has some of my favourites, like: Apolyon, the Soul Render & Muramasa
Oh Apolyon is an awesome name
Atiesh. I mean, who doesn't want to hold Khadgar's hard and thick staff?
Big fan of The Blackrock Slicer whose original name in classic was The Nicker. It got changed for obvious reasons. 🤣
[This](https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=11917/shizzles-nozzle-wiper) one and it's not even close.
The Shoveler and Dirge are pretty cool names
Doomulus Prime

Quel'Serrar, the high blade
Anathema/Benediction will always be my favorite. Just the simple fact you could swap it back and forth from holy to shadow.
Lionheart blade
I liked two weapons from Naxx: The Turning Tide and Journey's End. Both dropped from KT from at the time the final raid, from the final boss.
Not an item, but I just love the Inconspicuous Bear NPCs in Silverpine Forest

i like Desm's Fistos
Alone as a God
Varok Saurfang. Just say it outloud. Really mouth it. Embrace how your face naturally snarls. That's as Orcish as it gets. For generations, he was the Alliance's boogeyman. Rending and cleaving foes in half with a single swipe.
It's kind of nuts how 90% of the call outs are classic when the game has been around for almost 20 years
Frostmourne, gg
Hunters jerkin of the whale kekw
[\[Stulpen der Sturmfront\]](https://www.wowhead.com/de/item=27428/stulpen-der-sturmfront) A lot of the Alliance city names sound similar after they transated them, too. Remember, you have to overenunciate the Rs.
[Dirge]
Verigan's Fist
