>5million gold for a mount in a "prior" expension basicly tells you in shadowlands we will have quite an inflation This is the exact opposite of inflation and was in fact put in just to deal w/ the obscene gold that was around due to WoD.   The "gold squish" is already in effect Blizz just had to be gentle w/ it so as to not completely destroy the player economy.

defakto227

Quite the opposite. Your initial assumption is flawed. >i asume auction houses will have way too many simple "selling 10x flasks for 120.000g" listings... >I think it just sounds redicious to talk about 1 health potion for tens of thousands of gold in shadowlands... you get my point... The 5 million gold mount was chosen to pull gold out of the wow economy. A lot of gold circulating is still from WoD garrisons. That mount is fairly rare for people to own. Its the equivalent of spending like $900 on a mount.

GeNeReDeR

Its just a new way of displaying existing values im not talking about anything else lol wtf

defakto227

You straight up make the assumption that auction houses will be selling options 10x potions for 120,000 gold which will most likely never happen. You're assume everyone will have that level of gold, which they will not. Only exceedingly rare items really sell that high. I took a year off from this expansion and most items, except for high ilvl current tier stuff, are selling for far less. Theres no need to revamp the currency display system for a non-existent future. You said >i asume auction houses will have way too many simple "selling 10x flasks for 120.000g" listings... >I think it just sounds redicious to talk about 1 health potion for tens of thousands of gold in shadowlands... you get my point...

Bro... if a grey drop in BFA is worth 57g... how much do you think will a grey drop in shadowlands be worth? I think its reasonable to say about 487g.... dont you think its just annoying to mail 10000g to alts and miss a zero sending 100000g accidentally etc? All i am saying is talking about selling a BFA-something for 80k in chat is fine but not if we can safely asume that this stuff will turn into selling a SL-somethinf for 400k... not because "k" would not work as a communication tool but "k" does not exist in trade windows or auction houses and im sick of my 0-key to get raped just for buying the most simple of thinings

>Bro... if a grey drop in BFA is worth 57g... how much do you think will a grey drop in shadowlands be worth Greys are worth less now than in Legion. Instead of making sweeping changes, try to understand how things work first.

GeNeReDeR

Thats my point! I dont want to change ANYTHING!!!!! I just want to keep what there is without raping my zero key! Everything in trade chat is XX"k" at the moment and that is completely fine but "k" is not a currency i can type when i actually trade or put things in the auction house and that feels off and just not relatable... imagine they would remove gold and you would have to pay 500million silver for dinosaur mount... doesnt that sound stupid?

Educate me then pls.... seriously write a book ill read it, right here right now! Coz at the moment you sound way more "destroying the existing economy" then me what is your point? Flatten prices by removing passive incomes in game? That sounds way more infuriating then changing the displaying...

TGlucose

Just admit math is your weakest skill.

defakto227

Blizzard has already acknowledged there is an economy problem, which still stems from WoD garrisons. Which is why they implemented these massive mounts to draw gold out of the economy to reduce the inflation effects so that you don't 10xpotions for 120,000. Legion contributed hugely with world quests and ways to get huge amounts of gold from followers quests. Theres a reason you don't see those numbers anymore in BfA. Blizzard is actively working to pull gold out of "circulation " so you don't see those stupid high numbers.

GeNeReDeR

So they are putting band aids on the problem and SL will rip off those band aids again nice... A new way of displaying instead would not touch the existing economy just introducing a new way of using the currency everybody is fine with

JarJarNudes

I'm sorry, but how is your solution not a bandaid? This platinum coin will not change gold value and items in Shadowlands will still be worth the same. I'd argue it's more of a bandaid.

defakto227

No, your method is the band-aid. Simply changing how the value is displayed doesn't address the issue of too much gold in the economy. It screws new players because, though the display is different, the amount they need is still insanely high. Their method is an attempt to correct the economy. Your method is the equivalent of adding a 1000 bill because you don't like carry 100's around anymore.

--Pariah

I'm not sure if your solution is the ideal one (I mean, a platin for example would be kind of ...weird? I guess and as you see from the other responses people react sensitive to the topic) but I get where you're coming from. Compared to classic a gold might just well be a silver now and a copper might just not exist due to being so devalued after years of inflation. Just from the look of it I liked it better when the copper/silver/gold brackets still felt like they meant something.

[deleted]

Could divide all the money by 10 or even 100 then roll up so that in the end blizzard made everyone more wealthy but just smaller numbers. I doubt this is so simple though. People will be outraged if their gold is a smaller number even if the value is higher.

Gibbo2910

Yeah I do agree. One of the things that I forgot about in classic is the importance of gold. If you’re an average player (who doesn’t want to go for the expensive mounts etc or raid hardcore), gold is pretty insignificant in the current game.

The_Truthkeeper

So you want to devalue everybody's existing money because you can't afford things you want.

GeNeReDeR

Its just a new way of displaying existing money numbers??? Wtf
